This is live! No kidding. She is absolutely upgraded whitney and/or mariah!
All her performances are live because she is not a recording artist. She only has few albums on gospel. I suggest you listen to another her Whitney cover "I will always love you". She sings in windy outdoor with minimal sound equipment. She uses incredible vibrato and runs. Mind blowing.

I heard that David Foster who wrote this song was so impressed with SoHyang after watching this video,
he called around and contacted SoHyang and asked her to be his guest at his concert in Japan, which she accepted.
When the original composer is impressed that much, you know SoHyang did justice to this song.

I know most of them, but I have never seen a singer who sings better than So hyang.
Everytime she covers a song, she pretty much owns it, to the point she makes the original artists want to perform together with her. That’s what happened with this, which caught the attention of Oprah too, eventually leading David Foster himself, to do a concert together. The same happened with “You raise me up” and Josh Groaban, “In the flower garden” and Sumi jo, a grammy award winning opera singer, Michael Bolton and “lean on me”. Michael saw the performance firsthand as he was invited as the guest and called her a virtuoso and invited her to his tour later.
Its the combination of her mastery in arrangements and emotional interpretation alongside her impeccable vocals, is what makes it all possible.
Literally. Most of her covers has the most reaction videos made about it. Even more than the orginal singers. That's the power of So Hyang.

Welcome to Sohyang world. The more you know about her, the more surprised you will be.

A few points: 1) This is two keys higher than Whitney's arrangement (she starts where Whitney ends!) 2) She grew up with Mariah, Whitney and Celine and she learned english form the Little Mermaid soundtrack which is why her pronunciation and stylization is so American. 3) She does her own arrangements and every one of her covers is a unique interpretation that tells a story that she embodies in her singing.
A really great bookend to this reaction would be I Will Always Love You from the recent series Begin Again Korea where she sings it in the original key with an acoustic arrangement but is just as wonderful.
PS - your pronunciation of her name is perfect!

@@softshallow7435 I like Katrina and and generally don't like the UA-cam commenter genre of singer comparisons however here I'll weigh in. I think she may even be more of a natural talent than So Hyang however I see three big differences: 1) I don't get the sense she's as interested in the technical aspects of singing as So Hyang and that shows in lots of subtle ways such as a bit of instability in her upper belt, 2) She doesn't have near the natural musicality and arrangement sense, so many of her covers are Same As The Original but Higher With More Runs. Yes they are cool and agan she is very naturally gifted but she just don't touch me like So Hyang's arrangements do. and 3) (Related to #2) - her performance personality is pure Diva. Again this isn't a knock (that is Whitney, Mariah and Celine) but So Hyang has an essential sweetness that never gets lost no matter how incandescent the vocal fireworks It's the difference between "Hey watch me hit this note" and "I am singing this note to better tell the story."
That said I really do love Katrina and will always click on anything she puts out.

@@kbar5821 Well said. Lot of people tries to compare her with others of vocal ability and technique, and I agree that there are others who has better vocal ability than her. However, her musicality, interpretation and delivery are just way different level. "Everyone & Lean on me" are the typical example of her well scripted deliverance. After listening to many artists for over 50 years, there is no one quite like her.

“I wanted to meet her very much, and I am happy to have collaborated in putting together a concert. Here is how I got to know about Sohyang. Oprah Winfrey introduced me to 'a stunningly amazing singer whose video is a must watch.' I fell in love at once with Sohyang's first video I watched on UA-cam, 'I Have Nothing.' It was thrilling, and I searched to listen to most of her other songs as well. I have wanted to meet her for a long time. She is one of the top divas I've come across."
David Foster didn't hold back praises. "Her voice is very beautiful and overwhelming, and I found her every performance to be emotionally moving and amazing. Moving forward, I want to collaborate again!"

Many reactors started with Arirang Alone. While it is crazily good, many could not compare it with the original song.
Most of us know Bridge Over Trouble Water and I Have Nothing. Only then, do we know how much talent Sohyang has. She simply blew us out of the water.
