- For more than 60 years, the Dogu Express train has connected Turkey's capital Ankara to the eastern city of Kars. Once a well-kept secret, Instagram influencers have recently turned the trip into one of the country's main tourist attractions. Tickets now tend to sell out in a matter of minutes. Our correspondent Jenna Le Bras got on board with Melvyn Ingleby for a 32-hour-long journey covering 1,360 kilometres, taking in Turkey's most stunning landscapes.

Wow this is extremly rare from a western news channel . Positive news about turkiye . Its always negative news about turkiye 🤔🤔
Might you be blaming the messenger?
People would have more positive things to say if turkey were run the way Kemal Ataturk led the country 😊
@@johnnybrave7443 Why don't you respect the people the peole of Turkiye choose?
Don't you like democracy?
@@NgyangAbdoudei unlike you, as a Turk we dont chose Erdoğan.. they made many tricks and stand with that and their time is ending as you see..
@@NgyangAbdoudei why always Western lecture about democracy to others? Why you think westerns is default of democracy? For us there is no democracy in West. All are shows fake democracy there. No human rights no freedom of speech until its fit on their agenda. No minority rights. No rights of religious practices. So what democracy you are talking about? We are happy with our leader who do justice to everyone.
Youg people and students made this train popular, it was cheap and they were having lots of fun, than it got expensive because of popularity, now young people and students can't afford it and taken out.
Wrong, it's still cheap yet nostalgic.

🚅 don't you all enjoy railroad
🚈 trams, trains etc are just so cool
🚞 take a ride in my ''transportation'' folder, (folder 2 in my playlists) :)
@@KenanTurkiye 4400 TL is not cheap.
@@odenat3701 Yes it is, students buy a pair of brand sneakers for that money in Turkiye.
Afterall this is like a cruise ship affair on rails, across the country! and nostalgic,
not a local suburban train ride from one suburb to another.
Gentrifying a train route
The first positive video about Turkey that were produced by western media. They usually try to show Turkey and Turkish people as a part of Arabic countries which is extremeley incorrect. But thank you to the producer anyways for showing real Turkey and Turkish people.
what is wrong with being an arab. çapsıza bak ya, avrupalılara ırkçılık yapamıyor elin gariban arabına yönlendirme yapıp hıncını çıkarıyor.
I took this train in December 2015 shortly before it got so viral and popular. It was the start of one of my first journeys abroad as we further continued towards Georgia with my friends by autostop. It was an unbelievable experience and I would never forget the landscape. Majestic views of the Euphrates and snowy mountains of Eastern Anatolia. When we reached Erzurum it was around -20C* and obviously freezing cold.
Only 20% of women in Turkey wear head scarfs and of course a western media channel uses 2 women with headscarfs as a thumbnail.
Cause they know it that turkey identity in the world is a Muslim one
We only paid $12.00 US dollars( no sleeper) from Kars to Ankara in March 2024
I did this two night overnight journey to Kars before it became a tourist attraction. Had a two berth to myself. From there on to Ani by bus.
Oh wow! I’d love to visit turkey someday and maybe I can catch this train too :)
Would we see these days too? FRANCE 24 makes positive news about Türkiye, are you sure? I wouldn't be surprised if the diaspora soon puts pressure on the channel management and puts the programmers out of work. Didn't anyone tell you? Saying good things about Türkiye in the Western media is dangerous, you will be unemployed.
Yeah. I thought the same thing when I saw the video title. Very interesting
Macron probably wants better ties with Erdogan at the moment?
They only talked about a train and you've already been moved by them? It would be very easy then to deceive you 😂
@@peregrine8 This simple example shows how Western media reports. Even the slightest hint of neutrality makes us say "WoW".
In which month this was filmed please?
So among all these people, you’ve chosen the only two women covering their hair as the cover of this video?!
That's beatiful though. The people you want to look like, the Europeans, they don't want you. Stick with your beatiful culture and identity.
@@MrDiwani100 ahahahah I advise you to read Turkic culture before commenting on issues you don’t have an idea
@merveylmaz768, I lived in Turkey for 8 years, and I hated when some of Turkish people try to be and act like Europeans. You have a such a rich and amazing culture, embrace it and be proud of it. Kendine iyi bak!
@@MrDiwani100 the choice of not covering hair has nothing to do with Europeans.
May Allah guide us on right path
Please put more train service.
It's Turkiye
So you can just popularized anything with social media. Man countries waste a lot of money advertising they can use this strategy
you did smear campaigning about us didnt you. fluffing french. always gonna find something to smear so to not look like bragging :D
Is this an ad for Turkish railways?
It is a documentary. As you can see at the video, Turkish railways do not need an ad as all places are booked 3 months in advance.
@@odenat3701 You have done a nice way to shut up someone farting his/her mouth
