Thank you very much for this video. You answered I question I was searching to get answered....that they bees were "wrestling" at the entrance which I thought was interesting and was wondering if that was what I was actually seeing.
I have a question. We have 4 swarm traps on our acre and my son has 4 swarm traps in various parts of town about 15 miles from us. Anyway his trap in his back yard has had some activity the past couple days , just a lot of coming and going, fighting and "kissing".. There has been the same activity at a couple of our traps. Tree pollen has been very high for about 4 days in a row now. Tonight my son checked after dark and there were a few bees inside. He read that scouts will spend the night.. Is this true? We went out and found a couple of bees in a couple of our swarm traps as well and one tagged my husband when he peeked inside. Ours are being robbed out by ants tho too. Also, in my son's trap he noticed the bees dragging out the q tip he put in with lemongrass oil... so they are cleaning! Is that a good sign that he will catch a swarm??
Hello, just curious, where are you located? Im in Southern ohio but our swarm season is still a month away. It's always a good sign to see bee activity around your traps. If bees are dragging out the q tip, it almost sounds like you may have a swarm in there already. The way I check to be certain... just before dawn or right after dusk (when the bees should all be inside) I put my ear right up to the side of the box, you'll know if there's a swarm or if it's just a few scouts are robbers hanging out. I put hang all my traps at eye level from a tree so it's easy to check. Hope this helps!
Thanks for replying ... They are bringing in pollen now in my sons swarm trap .. I added a short clip of them at the end of the last vid I posted. We are in NW Arizona. Tree pollen has been very high for almost 2 weeks now. Our hive from our first cut out in October is busy bringing in pollen and has many bees daily orientating.
I have a question, I have scout bees keep checking on the empty birdhouse almost every day. Does it mean that a potential swarm of bees are likely to move in?
@ I tried that and doing cutouts since last year and it was never successful. I called local a beekeeper and they were not willing to help me. I know there are beekeepers out there who is willing to help me
Nice job 👍 I subscribed. I like how you made your trap. Thanks, good health and God bless
