£1900 in 1999 was easily 2+ months wages for most young people. My first job full time paid me about £700-800 a month when I started (2001), and that included me doing some 7 day weeks. Min wage was just under £4 an hour in 1999, lower skilled jobs that you were in say a good 5 years were lucky to hit £5-6 an hour, so £1900 just handed out for being a politician in brussels with no ties to your performance was just absurd. This is one of the main reasons I have always been against the EU.

And with regards to coming out of the EU he's one of the few in this country who has financially benefited from it, the country on the whole certainly hasn't.
