£1900 in 1999 was easily 2+ months wages for most young people. My first job full time paid me about £700-800 a month when I started (2001), and that included me doing some 7 day weeks.
Min wage was just under £4 an hour in 1999, lower skilled jobs that you were in say a good 5 years were lucky to hit £5-6 an hour, so £1900 just handed out for being a politician in brussels with no ties to your performance was just absurd. What a legend. Exposing the gravy train. For 21 long, hard years he drew that salary and perks. Sticking it to the man like a trooper.
Oh, and also employed his wife with said funds and was investigated and had to repay expenses he misused when hiring some lackey and will, I’m sure, claim is £71k pension when the time comes.

Is this a joke? He was paid an enormous amount of money to be on the EU fisheries board, but didn't turn up for a single meeting. He pocketed the payroll and allowed other countries to impinge on British waters because nobody was there to defend them. Suddenly the fisherman who so enthusiastically voted for him realised who he really was - a narcissistic liar who only cares about himself.

I have genuine respect for people who truly and unashamedly keep their convictions over so many years. Despite disagreeing with them about plenty that's why I'd always have more respect for people like Farage as well as people like Jeremy Corbyn, much more than vacuous opportunists like Liz truss, Boris, Starmer etc.

The trouble with Farage is that he’s been saying the same thing consistently for a very very long time. Nobody listened. But they’re listening now, and when the kind of groundwork he has put in to penetrate the public psyche, it will take an awfully long time for them to dismiss him. He’s a force to be reckoned with and the political class know it. I always wanted to see him in Westminster, and finally it’s arrived.
