    Hello, I purchased the 16 channel relay module. Can you show how to wire an led switch/button to the leo bodnar card? (I mean show the physical wiring between the relay module and the card. Im a little confused on how to wire everything up. It would be greatly appreciated.

    gday josh. finally finished one of my panels using the bodnar board , relays etc as per your instructions. worked perfectly. only issue I have now is assignment in XPLANE. 12. for instance I want to assign button 6 to avionic on/off.. I have done that in the joystick setup but I have to toggle twice to turn on and off... I I presume I need some sort of script? when pressed etc and when released etc.

      Isn't is amazing that no Simulator to this day has implemented that natively? You have a few options: 1) SV Mapper - A free software that captures Joystick inputs and turns them into keys, and also gives you an option of On Press and On Release and requires no programming 2) FlyWithLUA NG - Write your own LUA scripts to check for the Avionics switch and switch on / off using Datarefs. The examples included in the FlyWithLua manuals are very useful. If you are using Arduino or a similar interfacing card, then you can use MobiFlight's built in functions for when pressed and released. Hope that helps :)

    Hello. So I want to make a button box with leds. Engine start led 12v, etc. So correct me if I'm wrong but if I get the relay module (ease of wiring) that is basically so I can add buttons with leds that require 12v. That relay board would be the go between the 32 bbi which is an HID (USB) and the button itself?

    Tnx for bringing it. I'm using the LED Tip Toggle Switches connected to the USB DeskTopAvaitor Control Board, no need Relay, the only issue is lights are to bright, probably, need to dim them somehow, other than that works fantastic

      Thanks for the comment. As mentioned before these cards are powered through USB which is rated at 5v. Most LED switches are rated for 12v. You can power any LED toggle switch at 5v but you always risk shortening the life span or some other effects so I don't recommend it 🤷

    Really nice instructions mate.how should I wire a 12v illuminated push button(like a start engine button) when I want it to be constantly illuminated?

      This would depend on the switch. Most of the toggle switches will only switch on the LED when the toggle switch is moved to the "ON" Position. For the larger push button switches you see, they are usually always on. Do you have the wiring diagram/schematic for the button you will be using? That will help me determine the wiring you will need. Thanks!

    In the planning phase of setting up a simple button box as a first project, my knowledge at this point is very limited but growing. My concern with On-Off switches is that for example if you were to wire a on-off switch for gear to lets say "button 2" would the computer detect "button 2" as being pressed constantly or would it send a single command? Is this dependant on the board used?

      Very good question! This will depend on the software and the simulator. In most simulators what usually happens (using your example) is that when you switch to On it will process the command once, even though electrically you are always triggering that switch. That's why it is recommended you use SPDT (On-Off-On) switches instead of SPST (On-Off) although the same signal is sent constantly in SPDT as well. The difference is you can assign the two "On" states on the SPDT to Gear up and Gear down, and in the SPST you would only be able to use the "On" natively, and then for the Off you would have to use software since this action does not send a command.

    Hi I need your help. I want to build an overhead panel for the A320. Now I have the problem I do not know which buttons I should take best and which modules I need. So that at the end when I press the button the lights are synchronous with the lights in game and that when I press the button the action in game is executed.

      For this you will need to step into interfacing. It will require a card similar to an arduino, and software such as FSUIPC and MobiFlight, which read the variables from the simulator and can program the hardware.     hi, good vid.
    but how can i realize with push buttons ? couse starcitizen only regcognize a push, no "on hold" may i use a seperate Relais for a LED to turn on / off?

      A pushbutton works the same way as a Switch... But whether it stays lit or not will depend on the push button. The push buttons you saw in the video do not turn the LED on or off when pressed or released. The LED remains on but the push/release signal does get sent to the Simulator.

      Hey Kevin, thanks for the comment ✌To answer your question...no. The BBI-32 is only for digital inputs (push buttons, switches, digital encoders). The sliding POTS is considered analog.     Thank you for sharing this useful video. I have my Cessna 172 button panel (lights, fuel pump, pitot heat). This panel is driven by some controller of course. I would like like to replace only my regular switches with led switches. In this case I need only power supply and relays? Correct me if I’m wrong

      Thank you for the comment. What you state is correct. Just wire as shown in the diagrams in the video, and also consider the relay module boards which neatly pack multiple relays, and include terminal blocks so you can easily wire them. These boards also only require a single connection from the power supply.

      Yes, that is correct. Each switch needs it's own relay.

    Josh. I have a SPST switch that I would really like to use on my flight sim. I can't find a DPDT version of it. . I also want to add a LED to it. do you have a basic wiring diagram that can do this ?

    i'm sorry but i don't understand something...
    how can i bright 5 led with only one power supply? Do i need another card to plug power supply wire and all the wire for switch?

      The LEDs in the switches are 12V. The Arduinos and most interface cards operate at 5V, so the relay is there to help separate these voltages. A 12 V power sources will light up the LEDs, and the 5 V coming from the USB will supply power to the Arduinos / Interface cards, which will take care of processing the data (inputs/outputs).

      With 5V, you will end up with dimmer LEDs and you have to be careful with the current as you may affect the life of the switch. It all depends on the product specifications, but to play it safe 12 volts is recommended for a 12 Volt switch.

      You also need to keep in mind that typically Arduino I/O pins are rated to 40.0mA max and you have overall limit of 200mA. It's just not designed to drive a constant load for powering things. It's just for signals. Even if you would have 5V rated LED switches, but let's say more than 4-5 it's already a good time to consider either using relays or led drivers.
