Just been told by MOT examiner that I can upgrade from halogen to hid provided the alignment is correct AND THERE ARE NO WIRES POKING OUT THE BACK OF THE DUST COVER. OK but those ballast are not going to fit inside the headlight. 😔 So back to driving in darkness even with lights on.
Mitsubishi L200's have issues with this Kit as the side lights run on low power. Low power makes the lights flicker. Once on dipped and main beam they work fine as these settings send higher voltage.
I installed mine. The instructions said if the bulb didn't work switch the cables. I did this and the first one was fine. Done it with the second and smelt some burning, but it worked. Went to start the car and the battery was flat just the clicking noise. Tried my jumpstarter and still wouldn't start. So I took one of the kits out and the car started started. What could have caused that problem?
Technically HID lights require auto levelling system fitted on the car so as not to blind oncoming traffic, i.e if you have weight in the rear of the car(pasengers etc) it'll auto adjust the beam height so not to dazzle oncoming cars, and secondly, HID's also requires headlamp washers, plus projector type headlamps as it will keep the beam cutoff correct. In reality, how often have you ever been stopped by police for a headlight confirming check? I'd say as long as your beam projection is correct and the cutoff isn't blinding oncoming cars then just swap them out come mot time and refit after and you'll never have a problem. I have had the Stealth 35w kit in both an audi and another car, both projector style bulbs, never had an issue driving on the roads. Next best to these HID's are Osram Night Breaker bulbs, but they really aren't in the same league as HID's.... I can vouch for HID4u and their HId products, very good quality, very affordable and HID bulb doesn't cast any shadow areas in the beam, it's just a nice spread of blue/white light. 100% reliable too.
What type of bulb did you remove?? Looked like the car already had HID fitted. It really is not that easy to replace a H7 lamp with your kit or any kit as the bulbs are hard wired, making it almost impossible to get the retaining clip around the lamp.

I believe uk mots require the car with hid to be fitted with the headlight washers
