Just fought it in G Rank in 4U (just beat Gogmazios) and I definitely agree with you on that
People often complain about the “random frenzy explosions” but they’re not random; they often cut off an escape route commonly used in low/high rank, like when he charges at you; the explosions act to punish you for running away in a certain way (if you run at the wrong angle; you’ll run straight into an explosion) or the explosions after the big slam is meant to make that opening harder to exploit

If I have to guess that looks like Shagaru Magala armor. I ran (still am iirc) that armor during most of my Hub quests. I could be wrong though, the amount of armors in the game is insane.
