    Evening Ian, When you say it's easier to move that pin with the mower leaning the other way perhaps try with the lower drop links locked rather than floating, might make the mower stand more upright when folded.Good idea to mow rather than the cattle trampling it👍

  • @TheByard
    @TheByard 2 роки тому +1

    Hi Ian, As the new boy it was my first job each day to move the electric fence into the long grass, so the dairy cattle wouldn't trample too much. Later when the cattle were in the next field we cleaned out winter stalls and spread the muck, chain harrowed the 1st one. We rotated round the fields like that taking silage and hay. Other fields were for arable crops that were fed in winter. All milk went to the MMB, are they still around.
    Stay safe

    Good evening Mr.P. makes sense to mow and bale it you never know those extra bales might make all the difference especially as you have a building to put it in. I'm sure the cattle wont mind waiting a few more days before they go out there. Keep well and stay safe.

      If it starts getting stiff I take it apart, steam clean it, dry it then assemble with a light oil. Every couple of years usually.

Only info on the weed you picked up was in the comments. Ragwort, subscribers all said. Was it Ragwort, Farmer P. 🤔.. Looked like a bunch of carrots mitout the carrots, to me 😂 🥕🙈.
    Do you ever find Marijuana plants growing wild on your lands, Farmer P?. If so, do the cattle eat them, and if so, what does a 'high' Dexter look like 😊👀😀

  • @nigelgribble8736

    Christ Ian i graze covers way higher than that. Strip grazing they wouldn't waste much at all. I know some that pre mow, works but another expense. If you manage the fence with your daily moves you can achieve pretty good clean outs. I don't know how to post photos in the comments to show you? Nothing wrong with making extra grub but saying cattle would waste 70% is down to poor management. This year my biggest problem is quality as lack of N means the grass is heading much quicker than normal, tho looks worse than it is as there is a lot of leaf in the bottom of the sward.

    • @FarmerP
      @FarmerP  2 роки тому

      A very dry April didn’t help Nigel, we got loads of top with a poor bottom. Strip grazing the golf course is a bit of a faff, the stream through the middle and all those trees make moving fences a royal pain in the arse. 😄
