    I just ordered a Taurus TX22 competition and gave a few more days before I can get it. My first Taurus was a TX22 and than a TX22 COMPACT with a Riton red dot and I love them and I also like Walthers handguns my first was a PPS, PDP F 3-1/2 " , PDP 5", WMP, PPQ M2 22LR and I like them all.

    I read and heard how reliable the TX22 is, so I bought the TX22 Competition 4 weeks ago. I got it and fell in love with the feel of the gun (as opposed to the smaller grip on my Victory, but more expensive). I got it to the range last weekend and have never been so disappointed in a gun's out-of-the-box performance in my life, especially that of a .22lr. It misfired or hung up or ftf every 1st to 3rd shot. Knowing and expecting the worst from a new .22, I brought 6 different ammo types, and my friend had 2 other types in his bag, all to no avail. My friend suggested to take off the stock comp which did improve reliability, but still gets a consistent 2-5 failures per every single mag load..no matter the ammo type. I put a Cyelee Wolf0 rd on it, which weighs 1.4oz. I just hate spending hundreds of dollars having to play the Goldilocks game of buying, trying, and swapping out parts and upgrades. It would be cool to use the stock Tandemkross comp that it came with (which is the same one I put on my Victory a few years ago with NO problem or reliability issues), but it won't shoot worth a hoot with it on (and not much better with it off).. .Otherwise, I really like this gun and would hate having to get rid of it, especially to some buyer that I'd feel guilty selling such an unreliable pistol to. I certainly don't want to GIVE it away...it was too expensive with everything involved. Hank you for your video! I am just now getting interested in steel challenge and attended my first match as a spectator a week ago in Bulverde, Texas with Karlos of TexasSteelChallenge on youtube; he's a hellofa a great guy and Ambassador for this sport. TwoGunTerry out of Florida got me turned on to him. Anyway, I liked and subscribed and look forward to soaking up you knowledge and experience.

      I agree! I bought this for a Steel Challenge match. With a 5 to 10% failure to feed rate, you’re out of the running with the first magazine! Runs better without the comp, I suspect that the recoil spring is too stiff as well.
      Thanks for the review.

      Thank you for sharing your experience, this make me choose wisely, I’ll go with Sig P322 instead.

    What dot do you have there? Looks like an sro knockoff.

    Nice review. Recently bought this and on my first range day put 200 rounds thru of Anguilla super extra 40 grain. Not a single misfire or misfeed of any kind. I have three other semi auto 22's and all have had some kind of issue every other magazine. This was amazing! Red dot being shipped so only shot open sites this time. I found an aftermarket pic rail adapter for this online and fits great so you can use virtually any red dot for this, and don't need to even use the plate adapters it comes with which limited your selection of red dots or holos. Can't wait to try it with the dot. What a win for Taurus! Traded in my Ruger Mark IV at my local gun shop for it. So worth it at least so far. Very fun plinking gun and with 16 rounds is a viable home defense weapon for some.

      I'm still on the fence between buying this Taurus and the Mark IV. Needless to say i'm still scratching my head. Love 16 round mags. What didn't you like about your Ruger?

    • @Rick-hu9vc
      @Rick-hu9vc 2 роки тому

      @@danarussell4246 other than it was redesigned to come apart easily for cleaning by pushing one button under the grip, it was not better in any way than my Ruger Mark I. I shoot quite a bit and noticed that the magazines hate cold weather.... In near freezing temps it stiffens to the point of refusing to feed. That's a bad design. And it failed to extract too often to have any kind of reliability for me at least. The TX22 runs everything I put through it and is plenty accurate. Also the ability to mount a red dot on the Barrell directly is awesome. 16 shots in the magazines are a bonus.

    Some comments seem very concerned about disassembly and cleaning with a red dot sight installed. Can you include your comments in your next update to address these issues?

    I just ordered one of these the other day, just hoping it shows up 😅. I found a good deal on the JH special edition model that comes with the red dot. It was only like $50 more with it. Idk how good the bushnell 250 sight is any good or not but it sells for $150-200. Can't wait to shoot more since It's not as much as 9mm.

    Two things, my TX-22 hates hollow points. Will not run them. Solid points runs like a sewing machine, perfect. The other is the mags. Some people have had great success by taking them apart and clean and lubricating.

    You say it’s an inexpensive gun, but at $575.00 it’s more expensive or on par with pricing of quite a few guns, e.g. Canick TP9 Elite, Many Glocks, Sig P322, 2 x Taurus G3, etc…

    Looks like your thumb was resting on the slide, that will cause malfunctions specially with a "skeletonnized" lighter slide like the one on the Competition Version

    Wade, do your homework, you do not need to remove the optic to break the pistol down. However, you would need to remove the compensator.

      Thanks man! Comps on some of the competition rimfire guns is pretty common, some believe they make a difference some don’t. For me I like the extra weight it provides.

  • @flycastfish
    @flycastfish 2 роки тому

    Great! EXCEPT, you have to remove your optics and mounting plate every time you break the pistol down. Not a very good design, after all just how many times can you remove, reinstall and torque small screws before something strips out? And how will zero be? Re tuning optics after every cleaning ain't too good eather. Does anyone know of a quick connect optics mount that would keep me from constantly removing screws at each cleaning.
