Tesla Joy I also signed up for the Tesla insurance, my premium is $566 for 6 mos. Joy, you should change your liability coverage to 25,000/50,000 and 25,000 to pay a lot less than your current premium. Just my humble suggestion 😄😄
What do you think of the Safety Score (Beta)? I have been using it to get the Beta release of FSD and I think it is terrible, even though my average score is 99.2. Where I live, you cannot get on the freeway without getting dinged for Unsafe Following (it claims the fleet median for Unsafe Following is 16% - I am at 4.7%). Also, it appears to me that if you happen to get caught by a quick changing or unexpected light (like one triggered by a pedestrian) your "safest" option is to run it as even touching the brake (not even very hard) will get you dinged for Hard Braking (the fleet median for Hard Braking is about 2% - I am at 0.2%). There is no way I would let this thing determine my insurance rates.
Have you tried Travelers insurance? I compared both insurances and Tesla insurance coverage is very limited in terms of Property damage, Medial payment and Uninsured motorist. Tesla insurance is 30% more than Travelers in my case.
Insurance companies are here to make money, NOT to be our friends... 😤 state farms are not your good neighbors, and Progressive is Progressively increasing my rates... you would think that after spending over 1 Billion in advertising, Geico would have enough business to pass savings to customers.... 👎🏻 Insurance companies spend over 9 Billion Dollars combined in advertising 🤯 I AM READY FOR #teslainsurance in all states! 🙏🏼
My friend's car was hit by other car which was covered by Progressive. Progressive simply refused to pay my friend, and even stopped responsing. What a sucky company.
Very true. I have Geico now; just did a quote for a Model 3 as my lease on my GLA250 is about to expire. I have a clean driving record; only drive 4 miles to work each way, 6000 mi/yr - they want almost double! Ridiculous. When the China Virus is beaten, the DoJ should look into Racketeering charges against the auto insurance companies. It's obvious from all the stories the companies are all gouging Tesla drivers due to the popularity of the car.
US insurance is expensive. I pay 900 USD per year for a LR awd in Denmark and we are a high cost of living country. We can also get Tesla insurance but it is 1300 USD per year. Really surprised that US is so expensive.
We have a lot of bad drivers. It's very easy to get a driver's license and with a lot of people playing on their phones while driving. The highway patrol focuses almost exclusively on speeding as it's a much easier part of their job. Weave in and out, tailgate, drive recklessly :no problem in the USA.
Same here. I had and have GEICO for my Ford Flex and Ford Focus. I pay $170/mo. for three drivers. They wanted and additional $265/mo just got the Tesla!!!! Tesla coverage just for the Tesla is $124/mo. So I keep GEICO for the two cars and have TESLA just for the model 3. Tesla all around is GREAT!! Wonderful to work with..
U can't own a tesla in Texas. The big oil industry has a lot of "friends" in the white house. An Texas has oil an Tesla is cutting their product which they don't like.
They probably changed the laws then. I work at tesla in Fremont an they literally told me that u can pass through Texas but I can't buy one in Texas. An I think Wisconsin idk bout the 2nd one but there is 2 states where I can't own a tesla an Texas is one of em
3pac1995 You are correct about big oil here in Texas. Especially here in houston. We have a law where we can’t buy a car from Tesla directly at their show rooms, but you can order online. Some old dumb law that an auto manufacturer can’t sell directly to consumers.
I have USAA or should I say I used to have USAA for years. I quoted my Model Y LR AWD and got quoted $1450/6 months. Switched to Tesla insurance and was quoted $720/ 6 months. No thinking required! Tesla Insurance all the way!
It sucks how I can’t get a quote for Tesla insurance until almost delivery day! I’ve been with AAA for 10 years. They’re also increasing my premium and they quoted me $280!!! 🤯🤯
Great video, I am exactly in your situation I have been with GEICO for 16+ years and no other insurance beats their price. Now, I found out Tesla Insurance would save be $$ however, if I remove my Tesla from current insurance my gas car will not have a multi-car discount and I compared it with it, and found out if I switch it will not make any difference for me. Looks like you don't have another car so, it was a smooth transition to Tesla Insurance. :)
Don't Buy Tesla Insurance! I just had a car accident and the Adjuster NEVER calls me back. I reached out to Tesla (no one answer) & Crawford Insurance (no one answer). And now I have to pay my deductable without knowing what's going to happen next.
I bought insurance for my Tesla Model 3 last December, after 2 weeks I added my wife into the policy and they add $75.00/month into the policy, is this correct. Does anybody have multiple driver into their policy?
All good until you have a. Claim or an accident. I have a Tesla but im not switching.. to save a trifle amount of money you are rolling the dice on a major liability claim with a new concept and carrier with alot less money behind it and no real experience as an insurance company
Actually I read it on reddit someone who went through Tesla Insurance and the whole process was super smooth and fast. State National doesn’t have less money. They have been around for a long time providing backend services to many insurance services.
Tesla Joy is it not in your area? Or does usaa only cover military families? But when the insurance guy said 36 I almost dropped dead. He was like this is the lowest I’ve ever seen haha
I have been able to get a score of 100 several times. However, if I drive during rush hour like a normal human, it’s really hard to get a 100, partly because the distance between my car and the one in front needs to be unreasonably large for rush hour traffic. My latest gripe is that the collision avoidance distance requirement is overly sensitive. On a recent drive I was marked down for two collision avoidance alarms. In both cases I took my foot off the accelerator and the car easily stopped itself leaving about twenty feet between me and the car in front which was stopped at a red light. Come on Tesla. If you want me to maintain a greater gap, give me an early (gentle) warning ahead of time before I get too close to the car in front. How about a chime like the green light one instead of the blaring ah! ah !ah! you now have when it’s almost too late to stop?
Dang your insurance is still kind of expensive at $128/month with Tesla insurance. Mine works out to be about $71/month, but I suppose it's cause I have multiple policies like house, condo, etc all bundled. Probably the main reason I didn't exactly want to switch to Tesla insurance, but I did think about it. I'm surprised yours isn't lower with more years of driving experience (I'm assuming), but I suppose everyone's rates are different. Hopefully Tesla insurance works out for them and can be another revenue stream for them :)
@Optimistically Negative Totally understand. I would think ours would be close though? She lives is Socal, I live in Norcal, both not exactly cheap places to live. But literally every person has different rates based on numerous factors, so that's kind of a bummer hers is so much
The "in network" option is great that it includes Enterprise Rent-a-Car. Unlike other car rental companies, Enterprise built its business model around insurance accident replacement. As a result, many neighborhoods have an Enterprise office. I'd say that the Tesla Insurance is worth it right there. It's also good that Tesla is offering insurance because legacy insurance carriers don't understand EVs, so their prices and coverages aren't helpful. Their policies also cost a lot. My brother had considered a Model X for him and his family, but he opted for an ICEV instead. One reason he gave me was that insurance on the Tesla Model X would've been three times more expensive.
Both my cousin and I just received our Tesla Y. Between the 2 cars with 2 separate policies, we re saving over 1k in premium a year. My cousin already switched from her previous insurance company. I'm a bit on the fence bc my I have 4 policies with my current insurance co. Including 1 auto and multiple homes etc. My main concern is how will Tesla Ins Service handles claims when they can barely take phone calls. It took me almost an hour just to get help with a quote compared to no wait time with my current insurance. Would love to get feedback from people who have already filed for claims. Thanks!
It only make sense to use California as a test market because they have some of the worst drivers 😆 speaking from experience and I'm a Californian. I have rear-ended and I have been rear-ended.
Hi Joy! I love your channel. Great analysis and info. Do you have any updates re the Tesla insurance. I'm waiting on my VIN here in LA and comparing insurance companies.
Joy, your video is informative from a consumer point of view. You have done good research. My first comment is that your coverage limits are low for liability and property damage. I have noticed that many people that used companies like Geico and Progressive have lower limits. In many cases people go with the cheaper premium which is lower coverage. This happens a lot when buying online and they don’t understand insurance. In my opinion these companies like it this way because it minimizes claim payout. They spend the savings on advertising to get more clients. If you never have a claim this is fine. But one serious claim and someone can take your house and 401k. Once again, nice job on your video. I plan to check out your other videos.
Tesla insurance quoted me $206 a month... farmers $181. Still need to look for a cheaper option. My friend, the same age (24) who also drives a Model 3 pays only $130 a month. I have a great driving background and never got in an at-fault accident. We also bundle in home and auto insurance. Can someone give me some recommendations?
How is Tesla's claim service and experience? How well can they protect your legal needs, at no additional cost like some of the big-time insurance players? It's not all about saving money. Do these rate comparisons include the same coverages and limits? Same policy language for comparison? What do they owe you? Do they grantee repairs, and for how long? Did you check their rating score with the insurance rating bureau like AM best and others?
Yes, Tesla Insurance might be cheaper for you, but if you get into an accident, you are screwed! I was involved in an accident that I was not at fault with. Almost 8 months later, I am still waiting to be reimbursed for my losses! Also it took 3 months to get my car repaired. Insurance company keeps giving me the runaround whenever I ask status updates.
Is Tesla saying that ‘anyone’ who drives our 3 must be listed? Even a spur of the moment driver? Or drivers who would be rather regularly driving our precious Samantha?
I hope Tesla Insurance comes to Canada. One thing I want to check you on though. You mentioned the safety features and design as reasons for your premium to be lower. Insurance premiums in Canada is determined by ratings such as driving record, insurance history, commuting and territory. The vehicle rating is based on replacement costs and labour. Tesla’s are still very expensive to repair because of sensors/electronics and I believe their bodywork is aluminum? Very costly Joy, so even though the incident rating should be much lower because of the safety and autopilot, it will take time for that price to come down. Remember, tens of millions of ICE models are being rated with decades of history but Tesla still has less than a million vehicles on the road worldwide. It will take time but the premiums should eventually come down as more and more Teslas are on the road.
Thanks for describing all of these details. I was so interested in Tesla financing and Tesla insurance and as far as I know you are the only one to break down all these prices and the processes of how you do all this. Even the chargers. Thanks. Only you have done all this, really appreciate it.
There’s blind spot monitoring. You just need to turn it on. Rear camera also shows if there are people walking behind your car. I use it all the time and it works 100%.
Nice to know your experience with tesla insurance. I did the same couple days after Tesla announced their insurance availability in California. I got very good quote. However, when I called Tesla Insurance to add my wife in, the price was almost doubled. Both of us have over 20 years driving experience without any claim. It became too expensive, I then canceled it.
Tesla Joy how much increase when you added another diver via phone? When I told this to my insurance company, they said that tesla insurance must did something wrong.
@@TeslaJoy it could be due to something completely irrelevant like his wife’s credit score or credit history for example. My auto insurance rates doubled after a bankruptcy 8 years ago and have never gone back down.
Congrats on the purchase of your new Tesla Model 3! I can sympathize with you having to call around to ensure you are getting the best rate for your auto insurance. Any consumer, including myself should periodically check rates with other insurance carriers to make sure you are getting a competitive premium. But, I want to clarify a few points you made regarding your previous insurance carrier GEICO and your new insurance with Tesla. 1) You stated you were "forced to purchase an optional coverage" with GEICO. It sounds like the coverage you're speaking of is MBI (Mechanical Breakdown Insurance) and it is OPTIONAL. Sounds like a hard sell by the agent quoting you and all auto insurance companies offer the same coverage but just call it a different name. Just say NO thanks next time. Tesla has a great warranty. 2) Your premium increased "for no good reason" which unfortunately will happen when you add a new vehicle to your policy. Tesla or not, your premium for adding a newer vehicle that is replacing an older one on your policy will change your rate. 3) Tesla Insurance Services is really just that. Just a SERVICE. In reality, your actual insurance company is State National Companies. They are benefiting by using Tesla's brand name to increase policy holders and Tesla is not responsible for your claim or servicing your policy with State National Companies. Win-Win for them. How good they really are will come down to their service and claims handling. Not sure saving a couple bucks in the long run will be worth the hassle when your insurance company disappoints you. I happens to all of us unfortunately. Let us know how it goes after your next renewal!
I got my Model 3 just 2 months ago, and added it to my current policy with Ameriprise. The 6-month premium of my Tesla Model 3 is $265.85. Recently I heard about Tesla Insurance. I checked it out today (8/24/2020) and tried to have its coverage as similar to my Ameriprise coverage as possible. Tesla quote was $108.36. Too good to be true, right? It is! What caused me to suspect is the wording of Tesla quote. Instead of the regular "Your premium is $108.36", their wording is something like this: "Your monthly rate for 6 months is $108.36". To clarify this, I called Tesla Insurance. While waiting for a Tesla agent, I looked at the top of the quote, and noticed that the above rate of $108.36 was also there, and next to it, there was a small “I" (information.) When I clicked on it, it displays this message: "The total premium for 6 month policy is $650.17." How could you say Tesla Insurance is great?! Am I missing something?
@@TeslaJoy You and I happen to shop for auto insurance at the same insurance companies (Ameriprise and Tesla), which use an online system; therefore the way they give their quote to us has to be the same way. As I pointed out in my comment, instead of giving quotes for a 6-month premium, which is the convention of the insurance industry, their system gives consumers a quote for a monthly rate. I think this is very misleading! I almost fell for it! Buyers be aware! Are you sure you're getting what you think you are?
Actually they are different. Insurance is different for everyone. You and I may want different coverages and have different driving record. No two person is the same.
Everyone: I switched to Tesla insurance because it was less expensive than my previous provider, Liberty Mutual. Now I'm starting to think I may have made a BIG mistake! I was rear-ended on Monday, reported it to Tesla immediately (within 30-minutes) and it is now Thursday and I have not heard from the Tesla Claims Adjuster. So, we need to be careful about hyping up this insurance because what really matters is the service you get once you need it. It doesn't matter how cheap it is, or how much coverage they give you, etc, etc if they leave you hanging when you need them! We'll see how this goes, but if this experience proves to be disastrous, I'll be switching back to Liberty Mutual as they never left me hanging when I needed them.
I’m sorry to hear this. Not sure why Tesla is dropping the ball on you but I’ve heard nothing but praises from others who were involved in accidents and have Tesla Insurance. Hopefully they will reach out to you soon. It could also be because of Covid everyone is being delayed. Liberty Mutual could be having a delay as well.
@@TeslaJoy Hi Joy, I'll give you that. However, it would be nice to hear from someone, anyone saying just that, then I wouldn't be sitting here with a wrecked Model X wondering if I will ever hear from anyone. It's a good thing my car is still drivable. Could you imagine if it was not drivable and I had no car? Thanks for your reply.
Totally! You can check out this post on reddit about Tesla claims experience. www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/comments/ecltse/tesla_insurance_claim_review/?
Thank you for this video, I switched over right after I watched your video. Went from Costco Ameriprise to Tesla insurance lowered my monthly over $100 for me here in SoCal.
I used to pay Gieco $140 a month for my Honda Accord insurance. Because I always like to plan ahead, I called Gieco and asked for a quote for my future Tesla model 3. Thier estmate was about $104. That was really excllenat news for me. Couple of weeks later I received delevery of my new Tesla. When called Gieco to buy the insurance. It was a huge surprise......$380 a month.....lol. But hey, I am not complaining. Thank you Gieco for forcing me to go with Tesla $106 a month insurance.
Hi Joy. I own an insurance agency in NJ. In seeing your policy you should look into your “uninsured motorist property damage coverage” and it being only $3500. That would cover the repairs or replacement of your Tesla should you get into an accident with someone who is at fault but doesn’t have insurance. I don’t know if $3500 is the max that Tesla offers or it is the max on California insurance policies but if you can increase that you should. It shouldn’t cost much and unfortunately there are too many people who drive without insurance. In NJ I carry $100k for that and it’s only $30 more a year than if I had the state minimum of $5k. And one more suggestion - Lower your “other than collision” deductible to $100 - you’ll notice collision w/ $500 deductible is costing $615 a year and other than collision is only $129 a year. Lowering other than collision to $100 should not increase your premium by much. The reason to do that is because glass damage is covered under “other than collision”. And we know how expensive the windshields on Tesla’s are along with all the glass roof, etc. As it is now you would need to pay the $500 before insurance pays for replacement of any glass. So may want to see what lowering to $100 deductible would cost.. I’m guessing it would be another $50 a year at most. Anyways, you prob know all this already but just thought I’d make sure. And please keep up the great videos!
Thanks. That $3500 is the only option available. Previously with GEICO and Clearcover they didn’t even have that option whatsoever so Tesla Insurance is a step up from those.
Travis Li - Rufus unless they are self insured then they’re driving illegally by being uninsured. Here in NJ you have to carry Liabilty coverage to register a car for road use. If your insurance cancels, then the NJ DMV is notified by the insurance carrier and the registered owner of the car will get their license and registration suspended unless they can show proof of an active insurance policy on the vehicle. As an agent, believe me, I still see my fair share of clients involved in accidents with people driving illegally uninsured, as well as people asking to purchase insurance for vehicles they’ve owned but we’re driving uninsured and are trying to avoid license and registration suspensions. Most likely these people are repeat offenders and I’ll usually give them one chance to purchase and maintain their policy.. after one cancel and they call again, I tell them to call Geico.
Daniel Brice unfortunately it is the reality of driving your car on the public roads today. You may do what is legally required to do so but many don’t. This is why you need to make sure your own insurance protects you from damages caused by uninsured drivers. Insured drivers that are not at fault are more and more often involved with a driver that is at fault but is uninsured... and if you don’t have the proper coverage on your policy to cover that type of loss .. well then your s.o.l
John Chigur See, that $3500 UIM freaks me out as well! I went ahead with a Tesla policy but I’m in Los Angeles, ground zero for illegal immigrants driving POS cars (who take off when they hit someone). Your comments are spurring me to call Tesla and get some answers on why it’s such a low amount.
There are many reasons why Tesla is not in other states. Regulatory filings and approvals are required . Note as well that some states such as FL and Michigan are PIP states which have totally different requirements than CA. Joy, I know you've written that's all you're willing to pay for coveage,, however your liability limits appear to be very low and on the bottom end if the scale. 50/100/50??
Yes, because this car is the safest car on the road, I am ok with lower coverages (same coverages as all my old ICE cars and I’ve not had issues before).
The safety of your car is irrelevant in a liability situation. If you were to negligently hit someone else and cause bodily injury or property damage, that's where your limits come into play. $50,000 property damage liability is nothing these days. An S class Mercedes, Porsche, BMW and even Model S or X easily exceed 100,000.
How would I negligently hit someone when my car beeps at me when it’s too close to an object? I’ve always had the same coverage for all my cars. I should have opted for even less coverage with Tesla because this car has so much more safeguards and sensors than all of my old ICE.
I’m not underinsured. It’s your perception of me being underinsured. Insurance companies play into your fear to get your money. I don’t live in fear. 😉
I have Mercury Insurance. Live in California. I had a Mercedes E350 for which the insurance was $541 for 6 months. When i bought my Tesla Mercury increased my premium to $926/month. That is a 71% increase which seems absurd to me. I checked with Geico and the quote was even higher. So i am not sure where you all are getting these quotes that are lower. I went onto the Tesla site and was quoted for equivalent coverage $101.39/month or $608.34 for 6 months. Mercury has given me great service over the years, but i have to say that the struggle to get a decent quote from them with the Tesla which has gone around 3 rounds now is puzzling and the result is still way high in my view. I live in South Orange County, CA which i would think the rates would be less than LA.
Years ago I responded to an offer to get a quote from Geico; it was supposed to be a favorable rate for engineers. After spending a lot of time answering all their questions they would not provide a quote because nearly 5 years prior I had a no-fault accident. A few months later I went through the quote process again but did not mention the accident. Their rate was extremely higher than what I already had. I've used State Farm and AllState, but they have played games where they refuse to pay valid claims. I was with NationWide for a good while; they were low cost but eventually those rates creeped up. Finally I switched to Progressive and that has worked well with lower rates; I have not had any claims, and since my vehicles were quite old I just carried liability insurance. When I switched to a Tesla Model 3 this spring, the Progressive insurance only went up about $20-30 per six months, and that was because I added comprehensive insurance with the highest deductible, just in case of catastrophic loss. My current renewal rate is $247 for six months.
Tesla Joy much if it depends on his record and where car is principally garaged. Plus, it doesn't sound like he carries " collision" which is typically more expensive than just comprehensive.
I was in a car accident last year. I filed a claim with Tesla insurance and showed them pictures and proof it was not my fault. The person that hit my car had Geico insurance. And she denied hitting into my car. And Geico had her side of course. So I told Tesla insurance that it was not my fault and she had to pay for the damages. This was Tesla’s insurance words ... “ I can not force her to say yes and fix the damages”. I called Tesla insurance later on telling them about the problem. They said they would transfer me and then just hung up. You don’t know how good an insurance is until you been in an accident and realize they’re not there for you. 😢
Your battery and mechanicals are not covered by warranty if damaged in an accident. Because of the extremely high cost of replacement when damaged, Geico simply added a rider to take care of those items in case of an accident. Also, insurance rates are based on the rate of loss claims, not how safe the car is intrinsically. For Teslas, even minor accidents cost a fortune to repair (and they take forever to get parts--causing huge rental car costs) so the insurance company rates simply reflect that. For example, you would think that a Corvette convertible should have sky high insurance rates. That's not true at all. Corvettes have much lower rates than Teslas. Why? Because the average age of a Corvette buyer is about 55 years old and the buyers are usually professionals with families, that is, the safest profile of drivers. Teslas, on the other hand, are the most expensive cars to insure. That's why they're trying to have their own insurance company. Of course, Tesla will have raise rates sky high eventually or go out of business.
Hi Sarabeth, my car is currently in the body shop being repaired. The estimate isn’t that much more from my old BMW and all the parts where ordered and delivered within one week, so not sure what you’re basing on Tesla being expensive to repair and parts are hard to get-that’s not my experience whatsoever. Moreover, I know people who have gotten into serious accidents and their batteries were replaced by insurance without paying any special premium. All these are bogus excuses for insurance companies to raise premium on consumers without merit, and exactly what Tesla decided to start their own insurance service.
Just got an estimate for EV charge station in my condo (36 units). Then the electrician said that another condo he did the HOA required the purchaser to buy a insurance umbrella policy of $1M for an additional annual cost to the unit owner of $1200 peer year. WOW!! I called Tesla auto insurance to see if their policy would mitigate that coverage, but their policy only covers Bodily injury of $100K/$200K and property damage of $50K. So cant understand why the Great State of California would impose such a large vehicle insurance “umbrella” policy, especially since they are encouraging EV purchases. This seems odd given that ICE vehicles, in my opinion are much more prone to catastrophe.
@@TeslaJoy I don't know. But I also don't know any circumstances when an insurance company would REQUIRE mechanical breakdown coverage. Maybe you should clarify it with them before stating it as a fact.
Look, I paid what I paid. When I got my Model 3 and told GEICO, that’s what they told me that I had to add and I was paying that extra premium for 9 months before I switched to byteRyde. I can’t show you my statements here but that’s as factual as it will get. If you don’t believe me then that’s your problem.
Hey! Your story about Geico is the same as mine. I currently live in Kansas, so we don't have Tesla Insurance, but I have been curious about what it was like. Thank you for the video.
the savings potential should be massive. for example: i have four vehicles and can only drive one at a time. yet my multi-vehicle discount should amount to three free policies, but it's not even close. with teslas ability to monitor usage they can know for certain that i only drive one a time and should be able to provide a commensurate discount that reflects that.
I have USAA insurance and it has been the best insurance I have had. I tried Geico because it was cheaper but was the worst insurance in my experience. There are fine until you have an accident and you need them. An insurance is worthless if can't rely on them when you need them.
I called AAA cause that's who I use to have and it was crazy how much they wanted the guy on the phone even suggested I call Tesla insurance and damn it was so reasonable so crazy.
How much a latest Tesla model 3 's insurance cost in BC ? And how much the total cost (monthly installment+ charging costs + insurance) come out for new Tesla 3 if we pay just basic downpayment and rest on lease..? Please clarify it.... Will be thankful to you.
I've been a AAA customer for over 10 years with my ICE car. When I got my TM3 SR+, they quoted me 550+/month. Went to Tesla website, plugged in the numbers, got way better coverage and i'm only paying $140. Goodbye AAA!
Hello Tesla Joy : I have a question on Tesla car insurance. How is the monthly payment handled? or yearly? I tried calling the customer rep for car insurance and I have not signed on too the Tesla insurance policy yet. What if any issues have you had with the front bumper repair with Tesla insurance or was it with a different insurance company? Thanks for the help on this and keep up the great job your doing on the web
I have two Tesla’s a Model S and Model X with AllState Insurance. My premium is $825 for six months. My front end was hit by a deer on the highway and the repair process was very easy. I live in NC.
Sorry @teslajoy, your ins premium is still very high for your coverage levels to premium costs. Not sure if your driving record, distance to work, or your location or garage are a factoring in but IMHO, Tesla insurance is high.
Like I said in the video, everyone is different, and also I showed that I’m an elite driver with zero records. My round trip commute is 20 miles and I drive only 9000 miles per year.
Thank you again for sharing! I checked Progressive and they were charging me double the price that Tesla was charging. Progressive is good but not when it came to purchasing a Tesla. Please share an update in the future!
I am confused, please clarify for me. I am new to looking at insurance stuff lol. Those numbers on 6:02, are they fully adjustable to your preference? If so, does doing so increase / decrease the cost of insurance?
Sure hope that TESLA will not only go nationwide, but worldwide in the near future! Thanks for the preview in TESLA insurance and the in-depth follow-up!
Geo Yoshinaka With the NEW lowered price on the S.€.X models and the recent release of the model Y along with the deadass CYBERTRUCK on the horizon, my man ELON is ushering a new COOL wave into the world & redefining the industry. I very much hope that he is able to do the same with TESLA insurance, hopefully worldwide, or at least in NYC ASAP!!!

Tesla Joy I also signed up for the Tesla insurance, my premium is $566 for 6 mos. Joy, you should change your liability coverage to 25,000/50,000 and 25,000 to pay a lot less than your current premium. Just my humble suggestion 😄😄
Nice, Vincent! I’ve always had the same coverage for all my cars and this is what I’m comfortable with, so I’m keeping it. 😊
I love your honesty and humbleness correcting the things you said wrong with the support of subtitles, very good!
Please watch the videos on this channel.
Have you tried Travelers insurance? I compared both insurances and Tesla insurance coverage is very limited in terms of Property damage, Medial payment and Uninsured motorist. Tesla insurance is 30% more than Travelers in my case.
No I don’t think Travelers is offered in my area.
Your insurance coverage liability is too low. 50/100 is not enough. You need at least 100000/300000
Says who? I’ve always had that coverage for decades.
When I get my Cybertruck in 21, I hope they have gone nationwide by then!
🤞
It doesn't go into production until the end of 21. so you looking at getting near the end of 22.
Same Dude, I ordered mine and I'm ready to use the Tesla Insurance here in New York
@Es1911sumware the website says Production starts at the end of 2021.
How much do you think the cybertruck insurance would be ?
Insurance companies are here to make money, NOT to be our friends... 😤 state farms are not your good neighbors, and Progressive is Progressively increasing my rates...
you would think that after spending over 1 Billion in advertising, Geico would have enough business to pass savings to customers.... 👎🏻
Insurance companies spend over 9 Billion Dollars combined in advertising 🤯
I AM READY FOR #teslainsurance in all states! 🙏🏼
Musk Save World One Tesla at the time and you're saying that his front or carrier doesn't want to make $$. These are not non-profits.
My friend's car was hit by other car which was covered by Progressive. Progressive simply refused to pay my friend, and even stopped responsing. What a sucky company.
Qidong Xu two sides to every story......he said, she said.
Insurance companies are the worst mistake United States has created.
When the hell does this Tesla insurance come to NYC?
8:16 Elite Driver Discount is applied for ppl with zero Violation Points and zero Accidents on their record.
Joyce i have watched this three times. You are awesome.
Thank you David! And it’s Joy not Joyce, by the way. 😉
Tesla is the future
US insurance is expensive.
I pay 900 USD per year for a LR awd in Denmark and we are a high cost of living country.
We can also get Tesla insurance but it is 1300 USD per year.
Really surprised that US is so expensive.
It’s more expensive because we have a lot more cars on the street than in Denmark (bicycles). Chances of accident is much higher.
We have a lot of bad drivers. It's very easy to get a driver's license and with a lot of people playing on their phones while driving. The highway patrol focuses almost exclusively on speeding as it's a much easier part of their job. Weave in and out, tailgate, drive recklessly :no problem in the USA.
VERY informative video. I probably speak for everyone when I say, we appreciate all of your hard work making this video❤️
I want Tesla insurance. I hope they offer it soon here in Texas.
U can't own a tesla in Texas. The big oil industry has a lot of "friends" in the white house. An Texas has oil an Tesla is cutting their product which they don't like.
3pac1995 You are misinformed. You can own a Tesla in Texas. I live in Texas and I own a Model 3. There are plenty of Tesla vehicles in Texas.
I don't see why not. Texas, much like CA and NV, will be ever more important as they are potentially planning a gigafactory there
I have USAA or should I say I used to have USAA for years. I quoted my Model Y LR AWD and got quoted $1450/6 months. Switched to Tesla insurance and was quoted $720/ 6 months. No thinking required! Tesla Insurance all the way!
I just got a quote.. they told me 160 a month. I will give Tesla's insurance a call
When Henry Ford made cheap, reliable cars, people said, ‘Nah, what’s wrong with a horse?’ That was a huge bet he made, and it worked.
*ELON MUSK*
Great information thanks for the video 👍🏾
It sucks how I can’t get a quote for Tesla insurance until almost delivery day! I’ve been with AAA for 10 years. They’re also increasing my premium and they quoted me $280!!! 🤯🤯
Yikes!
Also ask Tesla about multiple car discount.
Don't Buy Tesla Insurance! I just had a car accident and the Adjuster NEVER calls me back. I reached out to Tesla (no one answer) & Crawford Insurance (no one answer). And now I have to pay my deductable without knowing what's going to happen next.
Oh wow I’m sorry to hear that. Who is Crawford Insurance though?
@@TeslaJoy that’s the real insurance company behind Tesla insurance. Tesla just a bridge between the customers and Crawford insurance.
Interesting. I thought they used another company (mentioned in my video).
Great video and once again very informative
I bought insurance for my Tesla Model 3 last December, after 2 weeks I added my wife into the policy and they add $75.00/month into the policy, is this correct. Does anybody have multiple driver into their policy?
Great info. Thanks a bunch.
Thank you for the info! I need to switch!
I’m getting USAA and they quoted me at 36 per month for limited coverage and 80 per month for full coverage on my model 3
Nice! I wish I could get USAA.
Tesla Joy is it not in your area? Or does usaa only cover military families?
But when the insurance guy said 36 I almost dropped dead. He was like this is the lowest I’ve ever seen haha
Yup it’s for military only.
Damn lol
Without the vin my quote for usaa (on parents insurance) was 200 month. Full coverage
Hopefully Tesla insurance works out for them and can be another revenue stream for them :)
nukem384 who is your insurance provider?
@@jacksongil9123 Mercury at the moment.
Thanks!
128? I was paying more for an old Mercedes. That’s not bad at all . Have a beetle now at about 79 with clear cover
Thank you! I don’t have any updates on it since I haven’t had a need to use it. 😄
Everyone is different. Best to shop around and decide what’s best for you.
Please Google those.
I’m sorry to hear that.
Is your car financed if u do did u buy gap insurance just in case you get total loss and insurance is not enough to pay the loan
Great video! Wish the Tesla insurance was available here in Nevada.
Is Tesla saying that ‘anyone’ who drives our 3 must be listed? Even a spur of the moment driver? Or drivers who would be rather regularly driving our precious Samantha?
It’s the same with all other auto policy. Whatever you’ve been using it’s the same with Tesla insurance.
Joy, love your videos, getting a model 3 next week! Any idea when this would be available in other states?
So excited for you, Devin!
Thanks for all your good research. I’m switching. Do you know if Tesla insurance also has an additional umbrella policy available.
Hi Rita, I don’t know if they do. You can give them a call and ask.
Can I get that Tesla insurance on my 03 civic?? 😃
Joy did you ask for the female asian driver discount?
your video stated that Tesla offers GAP insurance but the video shows "No" can you clarify this?
I didn’t get that option.

Great information. Thanks again, Joy.
Thank you for this video.
Thanks for describing all of these details. I was so interested in Tesla financing and Tesla insurance and as far as I know you are the only one to break down all these prices and the processes of how you do all this. Even the chargers. Thanks. Only you have done all this, really appreciate it.
Sad it ain’t available anywhere else but in Cali .
I have model 3. It’s not so safe without blindspot monitoring and no rear cross traffic alert/stop
There’s blind spot monitoring. You just need to turn it on. Rear camera also shows if there are people walking behind your car. I use it all the time and it works 100%.
Were these quotes for full coverage? I'm assuming so since its a brand new tesla.
Everything is in the video and the follow up videos.
Yikes!
Tesla Joy how much increase when you added another diver via phone? When I told this to my insurance company, they said that tesla insurance must did something wrong.
@@leonxu8952 I don't have another driver so I don't know how much they charge.
That’s why Tesla used their Fronting service as I mentioned in the video.
Great video.
thank you for the explanation
While waiting for a Tesla agent, I looked at the top of the quote, and noticed that the above rate of $108.36 was also there, and next to it, there was a small “I" (information.) When I clicked on it, it displays this message: "The total premium for 6 month policy is $650.17."
How could you say Tesla Insurance is great?! Am I missing something?
Everyone is different. It’s great for me and maybe not for you. That’s why you need to shop around and get quotes.
I have the Tesla insurance. Do they sent me a card to keep in the car? I have not received anything.
You can download card from your Tesla account. Everything is digital.
Very informative,thx!
Such a joy to watch
Thank you for this video, I switched over right after I watched your video. Went from Costco Ameriprise to Tesla insurance lowered my monthly over $100 for me here in SoCal.
Wow! Nice!
And one more suggestion -
Lower your “other than collision” deductible to $100 - you’ll notice collision w/ $500 deductible is costing $615 a year and other than collision is only $129 a year.
So there is still people driving without insurance? Then why do we have to buy insurance?
Lucky Californians !!!
It does because when it beeps, you brake on it. 🤷🏻♀️
Wow that is really low!
Tesla Joy much if it depends on his record and where car is principally garaged. Plus, it doesn't sound like he carries " collision" which is typically more expensive than just comprehensive.
I can't believe how much you guys pay! - my 1600 turbo cabriolet is 340 euros a year and that's more than I'm used to paying...
Great video without all the fluff!
Anybody know when tesla insurance is coming to the UK?
Ask Elon.
I have GEICO. They didn't require any mechanical add-on for my car insurance. I'm calling BS.
Why would I lie?
@@TeslaJoy I don't know. But I also don't know any circumstances when an insurance company would REQUIRE mechanical breakdown coverage. Maybe you should clarify it with them before stating it as a fact.
Look, I paid what I paid. When I got my Model 3 and told GEICO, that’s what they told me that I had to add and I was paying that extra premium for 9 months before I switched to byteRyde. I can’t show you my statements here but that’s as factual as it will get. If you don’t believe me then that’s your problem.
@@TeslaJoy "...forcing me to purchase an optional..." If it was optional, then you weren't forced.
@@johnyoung9649 They insisted that I had to buy that "optional" coverage, so I was forced to buy something I didn't want.
I dont think Tesla covers gap insurance
Watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/182edvg453s/v-deo.html
Hey! Your story about Geico is the same as mine.
I currently live in Kansas, so we don't have Tesla Insurance, but I have been curious about what it was like.
Thank you for the video.
the savings potential should be massive. for example:
i have four vehicles and can only drive one at a time. yet my multi-vehicle discount should amount to three free policies, but it's not even close. with teslas ability to monitor usage they can know for certain that i only drive one a time and should be able to provide a commensurate discount that reflects that.
I have USAA insurance and it has been the best insurance I have had. I tried Geico because it was cheaper but was the worst insurance in my experience. There are fine until you have an accident and you need them. An insurance is worthless if can't rely on them when you need them.
yup me too
Amica is cheap and decent as well
I called AAA cause that's who I use to have and it was crazy how much they wanted the guy on the phone even suggested I call Tesla insurance and damn it was so reasonable so crazy.
Is Tesla available to non Tesla owners or only for Tesla owner?
Also will they insure your other cars or just your Tesla?
It is only available for Tesla cars because it pulls your driving data to determine rates.
@@TeslaJoy
So it starts pulling your data when you start driving the Tesla?
Your driving data is always stored somewhere in the cloud. Tesla knows your driving behavior and mileage.
I have clear Cover now switching when I get my 3
making a comment because you said so. :-)
Haha!
How much a latest Tesla model 3 's insurance cost in BC ?
And how much the total cost (monthly installment+ charging costs + insurance) come out for new Tesla 3 if we pay just basic downpayment and rest on lease..? Please clarify it.... Will be thankful to you.
Call Tesla Insurance.
Thanks!! I hope it becomes available in Florida soon. Ready for my Y
Great video. Deciding if I should go with tesla or AAA . Do you have GAP insurance
That question was answered in the video, under GAP insurance it says NO, which means she did NOT get it with tesla’s insurance.
@@boobiebug like did she end up.getting it with another company
@@MRIMan nope not from the looks of things.
Great vid
I've been a AAA customer for over 10 years with my ICE car. When I got my TM3 SR+, they quoted me 550+/month. Went to Tesla website, plugged in the numbers, got way better coverage and i'm only paying $140. Goodbye AAA!
Same here, I've had AAA for more than 10 years, $640 a month lmfao, 3x more than my Mercedes payment
Hi Paul, Tesla insurance is like every other insurance out there. They charge you monthly for 6-month policy.
I have two Tesla’s a Model S and Model X with AllState Insurance. My premium is $825 for six months. My front end was hit by a deer on the highway and the repair process was very easy. I live in NC.
Thanks for sharing!
If you are a good driver you might want to see how much it is with a $1000.00 deductible. My insurance is a good bit lower just by doing this.
I don’t want to have $1000 deductible. $500 is the upper limit I’m willing to go for.
As a new driver this helps me decide. Thank you 🙂
I am confused, please clarify for me. I am new to looking at insurance stuff lol.
Those numbers on 6:02, are they fully adjustable to your preference?
If so, does doing so increase / decrease the cost of insurance?
Of course. It’s the same as other insurance.
Why are you said tesla insurance cover GAP coverage . And I clearly see on your policy said NO. Can you clear this topic for me please . Thanks
It covers GAP and I declined. That’s why it says no because I said no to GAP.
Nice presentation Joy.
Thank you Mark.
$128/month is still crazy expensive. At least compared to prices here in Sweden
Like I mentioned in the video, everyone is different. California does have higher insurance rate.
