Hey Sorin, I love your Videos so much. Very helpful informations. But why did you make content only for members? Do you want lesser people to watch your Videos?
I wonder how this repair shop is still open….Christ! I’m a professional repair shop owner and when I see these things, my blood starts boiling! No respect for electronics and for customers!
What if customer declines proper repair as not economically viable? I believe for this kind of thing either you make it work in 15min or it's bin time. Perhaps you would not take this kind of job in the first place.
Never seen a screen cable melted like that before! I assume the most likely cause was they shorted the cable out when connecting it to the motherboard with the battery still connected?
They tried to change the screen and they didn't disconnect the battery and they burned the EC... I would have replaced the EC and fixed the mess they sent me... wrong
So now the customer has a laptop with a broken EC that the shop broke and prob gonna charge the customer for it, i wonder if the other shop even gonna tell him that the laptop EC is broken. i wonder what else on the EC chip is faulty, it could be the keyboard and other stuf to.
Hey Sorin. Why do you still do these dodgy repairs? I mean, you have the knowledge and decades of experience to properly fix this issue. I like watching you vids because you explain and show us how to troubleshoot and find the problem. And then you fix it like a BOFH. What I usually take away from your videos is how to find a fault and how to NOT fix it. I personally wouldn't like any of my devices to be fixed by you and I don't understand how anyone would want to ask for sending anything in. Why didn't you track down the PWM signal in this case, find if it is a burnt trace, resistor or the controller chip and then fix the root cause? When I see this kind of "fix" and hear you do that satanic laugh of yours I sometimes think you actually enjoy foo king customers. If you only do this for shits and giggles all right by me but many small shops will treat their customers like this. You also have to understand that you give a bad name to the trade. There will be many clients who pay for your services in belief to get their staff properly fixed but get it back bodged. There are also so many viewers that praise you and comment how happy they are that you taught them how to fix this. I'm always sad to see it. This means that they go back to their little repair business and do what you showed them maybe even teach others. So this attitude or way of doing things spreads and multiplies exponentially. Don't take my feedback as negative or trying to be a hater. Instead, as a celebrity, a well known and distinguished member of the repair industry, think about the long term effects where it may lead. Think about what do you need or need to change to do this fix properly and teach that to the next generation.
I guess Mr. Sorin has answered this question many times, the problem with the lack of these voltages is the Super I/O chip. so i guess he used this way because the customer is not willing to pay that much for a proper solution (brightness)
It's all about money/time, sourcing the parts for the perfect manufacturer-grade fix etc. If the Sorin fix costs say £70 - 100 (??) & the ideal fix is £150+ a whole raft of equipment ends up skipped
You're right but it's a matter of money, he said many times he is paid half the price the shop charges the customer, we're talking about only 30-40 £ for Sorin.
@@batman4e Not just that. He's made it a mission to inspire people to do the same rather than buy new & skip the old. And assuming he's making useful money out of UA-cam at the same time, that's really a reward for being virtuous & altruistic

This is proper calibrated art!
Solder on a dial variable resistor on side of chassis. Old fashioned way to adjust brightness.
Or replace the ec chip If not provide backlight control

I do the same thing. i buy laptops for spares and use them. BUT I always check if the screen is compatible before using it as replacement.
I don't think the issue was caused by using a different screen. Most likely they connected the screen with the battery plugged in.
how do you check the compatibility ?
