  • Watch Ep.1 here: • I SURVIVED 100 Hours o...
I survived over 100 hours on a deserted island with NO FOOD and NO WATER, catching and eating fish, coconuts, clams, and whatever else I was able to find or catch. The average daytime temperature was 37 degrees Celsius (98 Fahrenheit) which made every task challenging - shelter building, finding food, making fire, etc. This video demonstrates how to create fire with only a knife.

I was feeling your pain with that weathered nylon line! Been there. Tell me, why did you use two sea shells? I'm guessing for safety, in case the one breaks, right? Also, was it very muggy?

The only down side is the length of the video. You seem to be on a downward trend and this content is too fun and interesting to be under 30 mins and honestly if you did a series of hour long or longer I would fully enjoy them. 10 mins I barely got my coffee ready and the toaster just popped up and damn the video is over :(

Brilliant 😂 great score finding the rope at least you didn't have to make a coir rope from coconut husk fibre😬 sounds great but really stings your legs after a while forming rope, i swear it grabs every hair on your legs while you're spinning it😂 that bow drill skill is a brilliant one to have, much easier than a lot of other friction fire techniques 🥵 although all friction fire techniques are hard work. Great video and coconut husk fires are great for insect repellent too if you biff the odd bit into the fire. it really is an amazing tree the coconut. Awesome stuff

Cut the banana down to the trunk, scoop out the inside and cover the top of the trunk. In a day or two the water will fill up for you to drink. I would have untangle the ropes and weave a blanket out of it. Fire roll would have been an easier way to make a fire. There’s so much more to do on an island but surviving one day at a time is key to mental health.

    Cheers mate
Great vid hope all came out well how much weight did you loose I'm thinking next time 1 week cept you bring a Palauian spear gun & a good mask snorkel Palau is an island in Micronesia their spear guns are from ironwood a rifle like stock emt commercial metal conduit and a teather line like a 550 para-cord that's parachute line. I do believe you may need fins for debth to dive deeper you'll need to kick down to spear the bigger faster moving fish. Can your ears valsalva clear that's a question for you. Do your eustasian tubes allow equalization of pressure well-readily?
That would be a game changer also spend time learning to make a better bed & shelter maybe pay a local to train you put that stuff on B roll. You must make more water somehow too. The whole process would be much more enjoyable by the way you can eat coconut crabs something I didn't realize when I lived in Micronesia I look very much like you when I was young thinner but we'd easily pass for brothers.
    Best David
PS have your guide throw this stuff off the boat as he pulls away island accent throws it to beach you'll need this. . . . Then he revs engine so he can't hear you. For effect.

Just remember folks, drink from the young coconuts is recommended if you can help it. The older ones are great for cooking with, but have a higher change of giving you diarrhea. Coconuts contain alot of potassium, so if you can find a better water sauce you should use that. Mild hydration is ok drinking coconut water, but excess consumption can be dangerous. Quote "Although coconut water may help treat mild dehydration due to diarrhea, it may have a laxative effect in other instances. Drinking too much coconut water may lead to excess consumption of potassium, which may cause diarrhea in some people". Just be smart.

So, someone like me that has never done this process once before, verses a pro like BT....how long do you think it would take me to get that fire going from the point of starting with the bow drill on the base?

    • @BUSHCRAFTTOOLS

3-4 days is way to short bro, we need 1-3 months for that reality vibes, we need proper weight loss, well developed camp site and hunting routines etc, water collection, building shelters that are storm resistant etc

I've never used this technique. It honestly seems like a waste of time, except for making money for guys like you, on the UA-cams. In this enviroment, there's no shortage of hot sun. Why would you burn calories to do it this way when you find lighters washed up with gas in them, or plastic bottles you can use as solar focal points?

I love these types of videos, but I would caution you against doing these types of videos. The heart of palm comes from a palm tree, not the banana. It is literally in the name. You warned people against stepping on the sea urchins. But you didn't tell people that it's edible. Maybe because you weren't willing to eat it yourself? But if you're gonna make a video about island survival, then maybe you should tell people what they can actually eat. Sea urchin is definitely something that we can consume, so you should have said that. Also, the skin on the mango is edible. You're over here peeling half the mango off to basically suck on the seed. I don't mean to be a jerk but it really doesn't look like you know what you're talking about so it looks like you're in no Position to tell someone about island survival or any kind of survival. Hope your luck keeps up and you don't get into trouble out there on those islands.

    • @joeldejesus6030
      @joeldejesus6030 Рік тому

@Norma Zarr No, but if I did, I wouldn't give people half ass information. You're showing people how to survive on an island, but you don't know the correct name of things, and you don't know what's edible . You're doing a disservice to people. Stick to hiking on marked trails.

This seems to be more about "entertainment" than actual bushcraft.
When jump cuts (and an "unfortunate" camera malfunction) are used to remove the most important parts of a procedure I become a bit sceptical about their actual skills.
