@Charlie-be6fx I love the enthusiast options for photography especially which Samsung isn't even trying to compete with, and the Micro SD + headphone jack are the main reasons why I switched to the sony. 4K 120hz 21:9 screen is absolutely huge and a lot thinner than the S23U. Only big downside is some of the software is dated and it gets way less in way of updates, but other than that it's great
I love the 1 VI, I think the 1 V is a great device but in my personal opinion the 1 VI is a straight up upgrade, I think 4k is redundant on a phone even QHD and the 19.5:9 ratio is my favorite. I do hope the 1 VII adds exmor t for the telephoto sensor
i recently get the 1 vi, and to be honest i just see reviews and stuff and the differences and as you mentioned... 4k in a phone its like useless xd, so 1080 its great also colors are great, and i mentiooned in another post i think xd or other channel but this phone its great its not like an iphone or pixel in which you press the button and you get a good photo in this oneyou have the freedom of doing it the way you want just will hope they update camera app and fix lil bugs that does not affect the experience but minor stuff.

Headphone jack, dual SIM, screen, dynamic range of cameras, shutter button, audio quality, I like it all. No 5G where I am, so it is not an issue. I am still looking for a list of compatible Sony mirrorless cameras for Xperia 1V monitor use.
I have just found the 1v at £899 , which makes it more compelling than the 1vi … not only for the price … the vibration feature the form factor , the separate phone and video app , it’s subjective of course but I really do prefer that 4k screen
Not only that but OnePlus has made their phones available in the US. The US flagship phone market is starting to get crowded: Apple,Samsung,Google, OnePlus.😊
@@jedolivier2688 I've had nearly every Samsung flagship since the Note 3, Google about the same. Yes, the frequency of updates are a plus. Not a Apple fan so Sony would be a nice change for a while. I'm drawn to them because of the camera and simple OS. I would consider Oneplus but not sure of Oxygen OS, kind of reminds me of LG. They do have good hardware though. You are correct with the US market getting crowded but one more wouldn't hurt. The more choices the better.
I watched Dune in Bed in 4K 21:9 ratio on my V and it was so good. Such a shame it's gone. I'm sure the VI is great but I just can't part with my Sony 1V for that reason
Just bought this phone on the second hand market, hopefully my seller won't change his mind I actually have face unlock on my current Sony, the 5 II, because these phones have custom roms. That's in part why I love them
I also just bought a second hand "mint" 1V and I'm upgrading from my 5II which is in its last leg ever since I took it riding on a water park without extra protection this past summer. Fingers crossed, waiting for it to arrive

It's fine now but it will struggle in the future. It's nice to have all these updates but the hardware of a Pixel isn't really build to last that long I'm afraid.

The new Sony is like 5mm thicker than the old one. Screen is excellent, battery life amazing. You pay more with other flagships to get less. Great phone, best choice for anyone who like audio quality now that LG is gone. 3.5mm headphone socket, SD card slot, FPS on the side. WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, excellent speaker... I sold my Samsung ultra which was disappointing for audio. Sony camera is fun and can produce amazing photos.
Maybe the japanese market will undersell and let sony know that we want 4k back. Even QHD, but 1080 was for the mark 5 and 10 budget ones not flagship.
Xperia 1 VI is so much better than V and supported by carriers here in Denmark. My luck and my daily driver and impossible to drain battery. 16 hours of screen on time, fantastic 😁👍

As intriguing and tempting as Sony phones are, the very high prices always stop me dead in my tracks. Even that Sony Xperia 1 5 looks to be no less than $900, the average still being around $1000. A tough pill to swallow for a phone already over a year old.
I bought the VI, but I'm still waiting on it to come in. I live in the US and use Cricket as my carrier. I'm hoping it works, but if it doesn't, I'll probably get the V and return the VI, reluctantly.
I have loved Sony Phones a lot in the past but sadly Sony should continue selling it's sensors to other brands because they are somewhere not delivering as per the market demands.

The biggest issue with trying to buy these phones is the fact that the way everyone buys their phone via a payment plan through their carrier isn't possible if I was able to buy and pay over time I would've bought a Sony phone at launch
I bought a 6 here in the US and love it but found that the Bluetooth doesn't work for phone calls and that there is no fix. Sony said that it wasn't intended for the US Canada market. I really like the differences that separate the 6 from the 5 but now that I have to send it back I'm looking for advise on should I get a 5 or just go back to my old note 20 and wait for the next Sony. Edit- I have att and it works decent with 4gLTE and I'm my area 5g actually performance worse on Samsung and iPhone. If I could get the Bluetooth to work it would be perfect
The US carriers really screwed the customers. I had a Z3c on BYOD and ATT made it as difficult as possible and eventually ended support completely. More competition is better but Sam and Apple dictate the US market and there's almost nothing customers can do
I tried so hard squinting the display and couldn't see pixels from the xperia 1 vi. IN fact the vi has better quality (by a little bit) compared side by side with my xperia 1v.
Got my Xperia 1 V last year November 2023. My wife just got the Pixel 9 Pro XL last week of August 2024 and I really like how close to stock Android the Sony is. BTW the screen brightness between the two is not a huge difference 😊 I wish Sony will bring the Xperia back to the US market in 2025
I got the 1 IV and was horribly disappointed. The 85 - 125mm lens is washy and doesn't focus, the battery is falling off a cliff, the phone keeps glitching out to a black screen and doesn't tell me when people are calling, the fingerprint sensor has stopped working, the charger port doesn't hold on to my charger anymore, and I can't film video for more than 2 minutes without the device overheating. I've missed so many moments. I was always a big Sony fan back in 2011 - 2015. The 1 IV was my first Sony since 2015 and I feel safe saying I won't be wasting my money on a Sony in the near future.
My phone before my current had intermittent touch disease, where it would occasionally stop responding to touch. That was caused by a flakey solder joint. I'm sorry you're having so many problems with your phone. It sounds like it's having hardware issues. As I read on a Reddit thread of another guy with the overheating problem, but no one else in that thread had the issue. Sometimes when the phone is assembled it wasn't done properly. As sounds like multiple flakey connections, and the cooling solution not making correct contact. That would cause overheating, which can cause the chips to thermally degrade.
That weird aspect ratio is the main issue I've had with them before. Now with the 6 changing that i would like to play with it but they decided to not bring it to the us. And now it doesn't have 4k. 😂

High price but low resale value, camera sensors is old vs the popular phones and specifically the chinese phones are more advanced. Since 2011 still there are many compromises.
Sony is piss poor when it comes to years of Android and security support plenty of others offer more for less I had the Sony Xperia 1 I went with OnePlus & oppo after that faster charging speed sure Sony offers better cameras but the prices there charging is eye watering
Horrendous screen-on time owing to a wildly inefficient display that doesn't even render 4K most of the time. Very disappointing. I don't care what tech reviewers say. This phone has bad battery life in general. We shouldn't be forced to stick to 60 Hz mode to save battery on a flagship where the display is one of the main attractions.

I've never owned a Sony but they always intrigued me. I would definitely be interested in buying one if they come available in the US next year.

No, 21:9 is too narrow for phones. Most of contents we use don’t come with 21:9 ratio.
