Before Asriel Dreemur died because humans. The soul of Chara and Asriel combined, and their body split into two controls. Chara, the one who control hatred and determination to start genocide. And Asriel, the one who control mercy. After they died in the same body and the dust spread accros the royal garden, Alphys began injecting determination to the first flower. Yet, they still share the body. That's why Flowey aware of our *SAVE* and *RESET* button, because Flowey had determination from Chara.

(PACIFIST SPOILER/EASTER EGG) If you go back after fighting Asriel, all the way to the flower bed where Frisk landed in the Underground, Asriel is standing next to it. He says, "Don't you have anything better to do?" He also quotes his mother by saying that "Someone needs to take care of these flowers." This has a lot of significance coming from those monsters because the flower bed marks the place Chara fell down as well as their grave site. Toriel takes care of it all the years she spent in the Ruins alone, and Asriel does the same when the underground is empty and the caretaker is gone.

I didn't recognize it because I'd never heard of this poem before. Even if I had read it previously though, it would still add to the creepiness and unease. The poem sounds a lot like gibberish to me, and that combined with the general atmosphere, the plot, and Flowey's strange voice made for a disturbing setup to the rest of the animatic. They did a great job.

yep, thats y Asriel's voice echoes in his mind "Don't you have anything better to do?"...both in his Flowey and normal self, Asriel says this to the player after certain runs and they try to continue (virtually every run i think, excluding Genocide)/speak to Asriel (True Pacifist Run). his Asriel side is still active, so he was able to stop himself before he hurt Alphys severely
OH goodness, this shows really well the mental state of Flowey. He's not very stable at all, always changing his mind and freaking out and then lashing towards others and regretting it and crying all over again. Gosh, Flowey probably has the worst story of all people. ;-;
This portrayal of Flowey is so on point it hurts. Usually he's either portrayed as a down right monster or completely sympathetic, when neither are completely true and it's really supposed to be a balanced mix of both. Flowey has layers and reasons for why he is this way, yes, but that doesn't mean he's any less terrifying. This portrayal makes my simultaneously feel sympathetic towards him AND terrified of him at the same time, and not a lot of comics can do that. Bless this.

Well, no, actually. Amalgamates are monsters that were injected with Determination. Flowey on the other hand was just a regular flower that happened to have Asriel's dust/essence on him.

Because he had Asriel's dust on him, he became the shell of Asreil. Perhaps if he had not had the dust, it would not have become Flowey, but I am sure he is a sort of Amalgamate. Have a nice day.
What I meant was that the Amalgamates are monsters. Flowey was not a monster but a regular flower, so I didn't think he'd count as one. And, no, he wasn't injected with determination to be brought back to life. IIRC, Alphys said in one of her lab entries that she needed a "vessel" for her to put the souls in. I don't think her original intention was to bring Asriel back to life, but rather it was just an unintended side effect.

I honestly don't see him truly as a monster, but I respect your opinion. Anyways, my reasoning is something simple. Let's say that you picked a leaf off a tree. The leaf is not a tree itself, but it has the same nutrients and characteristics of the tree. In this instance, Asriel is the tree, and Flowey is the leaf. Flowey is simply a flower with the essence of Asriel, but he is not the living Monster Prince Asriel himself. Therefore, I do not believe that Flowey is truly a Monster.
That reminds me of in Undertale Yellow when (spoiler for UTY geno) When Flowey says something about Clover making fun of him for not having hands and then he says “WELL I USED TO! Uhh, let’s just keep moving”
This is SO canon. Can you imagine how many times did Flowey try to talk to alphys to either have revenge or to look for a way to revert back to his normal state? I think I did the math once, and Flowey spent at LEAST 36+ years messing around with the reset function before getting bored and wait for things to move on. I don't want undertale 2! I want a PREQUEL. There's SO much you can work with.
I freaking loved the way Flowey’s character was handled. He’s angry, sad, lonely, and even scared of himself maybe. Flowey is a pretty complicated character, and this portrayed that Perfectly! (Chef’s Kiss)
Wow. I can't emphasize on how well made this is. It goes perfectly with the audio. The expressions and angles of the animatics are just brilliant. It really invokes the drama and emotion of both Alphys and Flowey. Since both characters have to live with knowing the mistakes they've created.

I love how it shows Flowey switching between his own personality and Azzy's! And how Asriel's memories, mixed with Flowey's personality make a monster with plans for revenge.
Flowey isn’t his own being, at least not entirely. Flowey is the combination of the Asriel+Chara fusion’s dust, human determination, and a golden flower vessel. Monster dust contains a monster’s essence, which for the purposes of this explanation I will call “egos”. The Asriel/Chara fusion, formed when Asriel took Chara’s soul, naturally contains both Asriel’s and Chara’s egos. When Alphys started her determination experiments, she used flower vessels to channel said determination. Alphys used the golden flower where the Asriel/Chara fusion’s dust landed, and injected determination into it. This determination caused a reaction in the dust, activating the Asriel part of the combined ego. All of this ended up in the creation of Flowey, a being with the memories and magic of a monster, and the determination of a human, all comfy and cozy in a flower vessel. The only problem is that he couldn’t feel compassion. 😈

I just checked the Soundcloud link and the OP admitted that this was "loosely based" on a scene from a popular cartoon. They didn't specify which one though, so I guess we're supposed to get brownie points for guessing.
The anger in Flowey’s voice and the desperation and sadness in Az’s. This so beautiful, I’m crying. The expressions were in point. I love how you switched Flowey’s faces as well. It’s a new and welcome idea. This is also something Flowey must have tried thousands of times, trying to find a way to work with Alphys to either bring him back or make his existence less painful. And the ending! Asriel didn’t say ‘stop’, instead reminding himself that he shouldn’t be doing his. ‘Don’t you have anything better to do?’ This is overall beautiful and a true work of art. One of the best things that came out of the Undertale community

I mean he is a psychopath/sociopath, like literally. That doesn't on it's own make him evil, but his previous behavior certainly does, if it weren't for the fact that he was able to undo everything he did, everyone in the underground would have been dead long before Frisk ever arrived. Yes he was a victim when everything first started, but after all that he's done, I would describe him as such.
in my opinion, asriel shows traits of ptsd/bpd and as a flowey he also gains psychopathy on top of all that, judging by that he can’t feel empathy and compassion for others. poor little thing :(
dang I discover this masterpiece only now ! You got the characters's personality very well, the voice acting is great af and the animatic is kinda smooth (for an animatic). I got chills during flowey's breakdown, his madness and loneliness is well captured in this animatic. Very good job 👍

Alphys regretting everything AGAIN (Jesus Crist, man, good LORD. Ya all didlily darn ready forgived yourself, Alphys. UR JUST GOIN' BACKWARDS NOW XD) and Flowey (Still unSAVEable T-T *In the arms of an angel XD*) fleeing back to the Ruins. *claps* AMAZING, TRUELY.
That isn’t correct! This is a prequel, before Flowey became fully genocidal, everyone else thinks so too! This is Flowey, in another timeline, before Frisk fell down. In fact, this is probably shortly after Flowey woke up in the garden, perhaps 10 resets after. In fact, after Asriel says that to Frisk, Alphys stays in the room after the throne room. Alphys never revisits the lab to “pack-up” Alphys stays with asgore, Undyne, everyone else in the room after the throne room, waiting for Frisk.

This was just amazing. The storyline was perfect. I've wondered about what Flowy might do when eveyone leaves the Underground. We all know that he doesn't want to be alone, so why not create some more like himself? The soundeffects too were just flawless. Flowey moving around, changing his face, the vines, th eperfectly fitted music. I couldn't get enough of it. And seeing Flowey fight with who he has been for who knows how long, an evil maniac, and what he was a short time ago, the swettest boy ever, was the cherry on top. Wonderful work!
Dude, you NEED to try to make a sequel to this amazing animation, I think you are a very talented artist and or vocalist, and need to spread your wings more, go for a part two, or another animation, you desrve FAR more support than you have now, well, either way, whether you do it or not, good luck getin out there buddy!
This is one of the few amazing things that came out of this fandom. I wish the fandom was known for things like this rather than bad ocs and cringey art. I left the fandom because people didn't like me for enjoying it, because of how bad it has become. I really hope there is a new game soon that will replace undertale and die down the fandom. kinda like fnaf when undertale came into the picture. all I have to say is this is beautiful and keep it up.
every fandom is like this, undertale is no exception. When you get older and enter different fandoms (especially popular ones) you start to see patterns. Just sit back and enjoy it for your reasons.

wow. this animation brings out so many different emotions in me. especially the parts where flowey/asriel starts crying cause he feels deep down this is not who he is supposed to be, but can’t do anything about it and where alphys is lying curled up in regret that she brought asriel back to life just to have him live in constant suffering… this is so freakishly good, i could totally imagine this scene as a part of the canon story. great job 👏🏻👏🏻❤️

I listened closely to some of the dialogue and recognized whrere they are from. The first one with Flowey was from a little poem sung in Alice in Wonderland, the second "I am the prince of nothing", third one "You made me like this", and forth "You are my God" were from Lemongrab in Adventure Time. And it is all fitting for Flowey's madness. Great job.
You know, watching this for the first time, I forgot it was an animatic. All the ones I've seen had this sketchy aspect, like the artists knew that it wasn't perfect and that it could be better. The art on this one is good and polished, like perfection. Even the sounds were perfect! The background music, the sound effects for Flowey switching faces, the voice acting, they were all professional and well placed! I was so completely immersed in the story.
Holy crap. The animatic was good, but the voice acting drove this HOME! The expressions and voices and the timed music make this one of the best animatics I've ever seen. Good job. Holy crap.
This is incredible and very emotional! I love how creepy you made Flowey. It's so easy to kind of write him off in his normal flower form, but at the part where he asks her to "Make...MORE", it just gives me chills! :D

holy shit this entire thing is amazing. the art, the animation, the audio, everything! there's such a depth of emotion in this scene, it's really powerful, and very reminiscent of Frankenstein, when Victor finally meets up with the monster he created. Different if course, because the context is different, but I loved that little connection.

I freaking loved the way Flowey’s character was handled. He’s angry, sad, lonely, and even scared of himself maybe. Flowey is a pretty complicated character, and this portrayed that Perfectly! (Chef’s Kiss)
Wow. I can't emphasize on how well made this is. It goes perfectly with the audio. The expressions and angles of the animatics are just brilliant. It really invokes the drama and emotion of both Alphys and Flowey. Since both characters have to live with knowing the mistakes they've created.

James Ohlson It seems that Flowey is able to feel some emotions just not anything positive for example in the genocide run he is definitely afraid of you and fear is an emotion
He never says he can't feel emotions he says he can't feel love or empathy
Basically he cannot feel positive emotions and is why he wants so badly to be Asriel again because he can't be happy as Flowey
I love how it shows Flowey switching between his own personality and Azzy's!
And how Asriel's memories, mixed with Flowey's personality make a monster with plans for revenge.
It's actually just asriel soulless, flowey is not a different person from Asriel, He was just slowly turning that way
Flowey isn’t his own being, at least not entirely.
Flowey is the combination of the Asriel+Chara fusion’s dust, human determination, and a golden flower vessel.
Monster dust contains a monster’s essence, which for the purposes of this explanation I will call “egos”.
The Asriel/Chara fusion, formed when Asriel took Chara’s soul, naturally contains both Asriel’s and Chara’s egos.
When Alphys started her determination experiments, she used flower vessels to channel said determination.
Alphys used the golden flower where the Asriel/Chara fusion’s dust landed, and injected determination into it.
This determination caused a reaction in the dust, activating the Asriel part of the combined ego.
All of this ended up in the creation of Flowey, a being with the memories and magic of a monster, and the determination of a human, all comfy and cozy in a flower vessel.
The only problem is that he couldn’t feel compassion. 😈

That's why during the Hyperdeath God form (shiny wings), we call [someone's else soul] after we SAVE everyone, waking up Asriel and Chara
That's why Flowey remains as Asriel a bit and Chara steals Frisk's soul in the Pacifist ending
And also is why Flowey prays for let everyone be free and Chara kills us (still remains their pre-death goals before have a soul inside them again (Asriel: free monsters and be Chara's simp, Chara: take revenge from humans for the War and Genocide))

The anger in Flowey’s voice and the desperation and sadness in Az’s. This so beautiful, I’m crying. The expressions were in point. I love how you switched Flowey’s faces as well. It’s a new and welcome idea. This is also something Flowey must have tried thousands of times, trying to find a way to work with Alphys to either bring him back or make his existence less painful. And the ending! Asriel didn’t say ‘stop’, instead reminding himself that he shouldn’t be doing his. ‘Don’t you have anything better to do?’ This is overall beautiful and a true work of art. One of the best things that came out of the Undertale community

Yeah he's got some issues to sort out mentally but hey dying and then being forced back to life as a flower with no soul and the power to turn back time as much as you like kinda does that to ya
I mean he is a psychopath/sociopath, like literally. That doesn't on it's own make him evil, but his previous behavior certainly does, if it weren't for the fact that he was able to undo everything he did, everyone in the underground would have been dead long before Frisk ever arrived. Yes he was a victim when everything first started, but after all that he's done, I would describe him as such.
in my opinion, asriel shows traits of ptsd/bpd and as a flowey he also gains psychopathy on top of all that, judging by that he can’t feel empathy and compassion for others. poor little thing :(

You got the characters's personality very well, the voice acting is great af and the animatic is kinda smooth (for an animatic). I got chills during flowey's breakdown, his madness and loneliness is well captured in this animatic.

I understand. This is after the True Pasifist run, and after Asriel said to Frisk, 'Don't you have anything better to do?'. Alphys was packing up to go to the Surface, and Flowey was still in the Underground, because, well, we can't SAVE him completely. Flowey was visiting his fellow test subjects from a LONGGGGGGG time ago. Alphys caught him, got in crossfire, and Asriel/Flowey got a flashback to when he broke the barrier. And that's where it ends. Alphys regretting everything AGAIN (Jesus Crist, man, good LORD. Ya all didlily darn ready forgived yourself, Alphys. UR JUST GOIN' BACKWARDS NOW XD) and Flowey (Still unSAVEable T-T *In the arms of an angel XD*) fleeing back to the Ruins. *claps* AMAZING, TRUELY.
That isn’t correct! This is a prequel, before Flowey became fully genocidal, everyone else thinks so too! This is Flowey, in another timeline, before Frisk fell down. In fact, this is probably shortly after Flowey woke up in the garden, perhaps 10 resets after.
In fact, after Asriel says that to Frisk, Alphys stays in the room after the throne room. Alphys never revisits the lab to “pack-up” Alphys stays with asgore, Undyne, everyone else in the room after the throne room, waiting for Frisk.

This was just amazing. The storyline was perfect. I've wondered about what Flowy might do when eveyone leaves the Underground. We all know that he doesn't want to be alone, so why not create some more like himself? The soundeffects too were just flawless. Flowey moving around, changing his face, the vines, th eperfectly fitted music. I couldn't get enough of it. And seeing Flowey fight with who he has been for who knows how long, an evil maniac, and what he was a short time ago, the swettest boy ever, was the cherry on top. Wonderful work!

This is one of the few amazing things that came out of this fandom. I wish the fandom was known for things like this rather than bad ocs and cringey art. I left the fandom because people didn't like me for enjoying it, because of how bad it has become. I really hope there is a new game soon that will replace undertale and die down the fandom. kinda like fnaf when undertale came into the picture. all I have to say is this is beautiful and keep it up.
every fandom is like this, undertale is no exception. When you get older and enter different fandoms (especially popular ones) you start to see patterns. Just sit back and enjoy it for your reasons.

wow. this animation brings out so many different emotions in me. especially the parts where flowey/asriel starts crying cause he feels deep down this is not who he is supposed to be, but can’t do anything about it and where alphys is lying curled up in regret that she brought asriel back to life just to have him live in constant suffering… this is so freakishly good, i could totally imagine this scene as a part of the canon story. great job 👏🏻👏🏻❤️

I listened closely to some of the dialogue and recognized whrere they are from. The first one with Flowey was from a little poem sung in Alice in Wonderland, the second "I am the prince of nothing", third one "You made me like this", and forth "You are my God" were from Lemongrab in Adventure Time. And it is all fitting for Flowey's madness. Great job.

You know, watching this for the first time, I forgot it was an animatic. All the ones I've seen had this sketchy aspect, like the artists knew that it wasn't perfect and that it could be better. The art on this one is good and polished, like perfection. Even the sounds were perfect! The background music, the sound effects for Flowey switching faces, the voice acting, they were all professional and well placed! I was so completely immersed in the story.
Holy crap. The animatic was good, but the voice acting drove this HOME! The expressions and voices and the timed music make this one of the best animatics I've ever seen. Good job. Holy crap.

holy shit this entire thing is amazing. the art, the animation, the audio, everything! there's such a depth of emotion in this scene, it's really powerful, and very reminiscent of Frankenstein, when Victor finally meets up with the monster he created. Different if course, because the context is different, but I loved that little connection.
