Hey bro--thanks! You're the first person on UA-cam who doesn't start their "Beginner" video at a 4th year user level. I too am brand new to using a midi controller/keyboard interface and very much appreciate the humble approach you're taking. PLEASE continue to document your journey and explain to us newbs out here what the heck is going on! Much appreciated!
FINALLY, AND THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU (okay, I'll stop yelling now)....you demonstrated the MK3, in Ableton's ARRANGEMENT MODE....all the MK3's demo's I previously found on you tube use the session mode to demo the keyboard, and it was a real bummer. I've gone ahead now and ordered the same MK3 you demo'd here.....thanks buddy. Chris Montreal, Canada
hi, is there any other software i can use with this keyboard. I mean any software ready to use , and does not need to programing. like organ2020 on android.
@@SharLeeRV thanks for reply, I already have this keyboard, but I need software on PC to use this keyboard without complicated, I saw video for application called Organ 2019 on android but it doesn't work with me. So can you named any software on PC, even it is need some dollars.
Correct. Since there are only 8 sliders and knobs, by default you can only control the first 8 tracks with the knobs and sliders, but you can Map the MIDI controls in the program to be associated with whatever tracks or controls you would like and customize it that way up to the 8 available physical controls available to you. Hope that makes sense and helps!
@@SquirrelGrowth thanks for the feedback. Am I also limited to 8 tracks when using the pads or can I use the ">" besides of the pads to navigate to eg the 9,10th and so on track ?
@@gbigbo_zjebeezjeboo I believe that is the case that you can scroll horizontally through clips and vertically through scenes, though the Ableton version that comes included is limited in tracks and scenes, which I think may max out at 8 each (might be 16 tracks?)
I have been using this keyboard for 2 years. Recently midi sound in my daw goes very little. Even sound is not heard. Then i restart my pc and it sounds perfectly but suddenly the sound falls down. I use cubase 5 on windows 10. My sound card is also ok( focusrite). Can you help me?
@@SquirrelGrowth Well im glad you specified that because the novation mk3 is the best midi controller you can buy for ableton even better than the arturia keylab essencials i'ts used by pro's and everyone who can buy it.
But have all you gonna need, is plug & play, 49 keys is a nice range, you have pads and control, all mapped and labeled. Really good to not to change it later. My Oxygen Pro 61 is not for beginners, is a lot to configure and takes a lot of time to setup each preset, when you're done is nice bucause is not just 9 faders, 8 knobs and 16 pads, this have 4 banks so becomes 36, 32 and 64 to get a full control. I wanted the Launchkey but my DAW control use MCU while the Keystation is HUI so I chose the M-Audio
MIDI = Musical Instrument Digital Interface not musical interface digital input. I'll stop watching your video now. I'm a beginner but clearly not beginner enough...
Like everything it takes some time to learn what you're doing. Nothing comes for free and expecting a device to do all the work for you is not the right mindset.

I knew what to expect when I saw the name SquirrellGrowth, and boy was I not disappointed.
I appreciate it, means a lot!
Considering buying this hardware I am. Thank you for filming this. It's three years old... Maybe I should do more research.
For this amount of subscribers this is an amazing video

Hats off to you, you had no idea about making tunes and you just went at it.
A perfect beginners video I guess.
super! You're the first one that actually got me started with useful stuff on the launchkey
We need more reviews like this👍
MIDI stands for Musical Instrument digital Interface.
midi means musical instrument digital interface*
0:21 MIDI is an acronym for Musical Instrument Digital Interface.
Like short midi though
Thanks for the great intro video. Your composition will forever haunt my dreams.
Does this glow LED at the bottom?
Amazing video and a great walkthrough! Love how laid back you are. Subscribed :D
so which midi is for pro?
Does it have any oldies fifties music tunes?
dude that's the best video ever! i love the trash recordings man. i could listen to that for way longer than i should be able to.
When’s the album out?
If this keyboard is for beginners, what is for the pros?
Thanks for this vid :)
Love this video. Thank!!!!!!
Hi,
How do I change the octave on the pads? I had it at first, but now I can't seem to find that feature anywhere.
hi, is there any other software i can use with this keyboard. I mean any software ready to use , and does not need to programing. like organ2020 on android.
Sure, you can connect it with any support midi software, but if you want to use it that way, there is many cheaper midi controller options

What if you have more than eight tracks ?
Can you only control the first eight from they keyboard then with the knobs, sliders, pads ?

Nice video man !
Which usb hub do you use?
What do you mean by beginner
Beginner as in basically plug and play without too intensive of a setup or too much money invested

Bov Sustain pedal for this
$200 !!! You say ? I just paid $460 - we get ripped off in oz
It depends on the type of launch key you got, there are many versions.
And he is in America, remember our conversion rate is trash
Just paid €208.- ($248) for the Novation LaunchKey 49 MK3 USB/MIDI keyboard here in the Netherlands
$250 in Boston MA. USA. Love it.
Thank you
You made my day. 😄
did you know that the pads register as polyphonic aftertouch in pigments and abelton 11 ....
is that a good or a bad thing?

great helpful video!
It's a wow! Can I get response pls? Is it compatible with android phones? Planning to buy midi keyboard like this. Thank you bro
Great video.
nice
Is this support for any DAW?
most of em yes. But it shines in abelton and logic. if you have any different daw, Arturia keylab is a way to go as well]
ok thanks :)
Man, this midi controller is far away to be for “beginners”.
But have all you gonna need, is plug & play, 49 keys is a nice range, you have pads and control, all mapped and labeled. Really good to not to change it later.

Very Nice....Süper.....
Why for beginners? It's no difference, everything is approximately the same.
At least get what MIDI stands for correct before reaching beginners. Not a good start.
Hello bro
MIDI = Musical Instrument Digital Interface.
Not Input because MIDI has Input and Output, and sometimes THRU Put.
Mate you dont know what MIDI stands for? Come on bro...
Please syop using that garbage WORDS BEGINNERS. PLEASE
MIDI = Musical Instrument Digital Interface not musical interface digital input. I'll stop watching your video now. I'm a beginner but clearly not beginner enough...
Sir, no skill at music making is required for music making. Pretty crazy, right? Sad in a way. It’ll never go back to musical musicians
If you don't have any musical talent, why bother wasting your money. Just stick to playing online games.
Thanks for helping me not to buy this thing. These devices make wonders only on the hands of artists, the rest of us, not so much.
Like everything it takes some time to learn what you're doing. Nothing comes for free and expecting a device to do all the work for you is not the right mindset.
What does that even mean? No instrument will make music for you. This is a perfectly good entry level keyboard.
Exactly... you’re the one who has to put in the effort....
