Wow! I have managed to find a 1973 Marshall Super Bass 100 in mint conditions and quite good price! I still haven't been able to play it, but I am dying to do it, I just cannot wait anymore! Hopefully in a couple of days! It is just fantastic, I look forward to it so much
The sound is cool but im really impressed with the quality of your bass lines in this video. Every riff you play start a crazy song in my head. Dyou play that in a band ?
thanks Mateusz. I play bass and I have Marshall JMP 100. 1972. my bass is Rickenbacker 1983 and Mosrite 1966 and other customed basses. I have tried so many twisted on this amp on precence, bass, mid, treble....but I could not find like what you did. I loved Lemmy bass sounds too...just want to get that.....I don't like using pedal any more....thank you
Sounds great. I've always liked Marshalls for bass. They have a certain warm punch. Million dollar question.... which BASS pedal will come closer to this tone?
I have the 4x12 version of this cab (Model 1520 with the 150w Sidewinders) and cannot give it away. Sounds killer for guitar. Never tried it with bass....
Hello Mateusz, I annoy you because I have been following you for a long time and I have the valves that accompany me thanks to your videos. I normally use the Drop C, like you do in this video, to get this growl on my lows. My query is the following, I cannot achieve this distortion with my bass at 440, what can you advise me? I use a Marshall Club and Country 4150, with 12ax7 and EL34. Along with a Fender Precision. Thanks in advance Greetings Roberto
I'm not Mateusz, but hopefully I can shed some light here... The Marshall 4150 that you have is quite a different amp than what is in the video, it is a very different design internally, lending itself better to pure clean tones. I really hate to say it, but your amp will never growl the way that this amp does, it just simply was never intended for that. This amp featured here was designed during a time when Marshall engineers didn't yet have a firm grasp on how to build a proper bass amp, which is coincidentally why it distorts so well. To get a tone like this out of a 4150, you will definitely need some help from pedals. I'm really not trying to bash 4150's here by the way, they're really interesting amps, but they just won't do what you're wanting to do without some help
Classic tube amps have passive tone stack so they cannot boost signal on selected frequencies - only cut. Fully opened eq means that the signal is unfiltered, fully closed eq shuts down the signal completely
Less Less bass. Marshal doesnt work good with muddy "beefy" basses. It needs bright sound, low action and new strings. And less Bass on EQ - less than you want then it sound good in the recording
Hi Mateusz, are you using attenuators with this beasts? I have late 70's super bass, using it with P-Bass, but its not posible to play more than Volume I on 2, becouse its f*** loud :).
At Lars Sig....Agreed...Was going to say the majority of Super Bass users were EB3 players. Jack Bruce as well as Trevor Boulder of Bowie fame and again of Bowie fame Tony Visconti... Matt...Give "Keep it down" from Jack Bruce a listen!!! Also look for the live version of Moonage Daydream from David Bowie and. hear Trevor tear an EB3 to pieces on a Super Bass or possibly Major..Same Preamp though on a Major.....Trevor was a killer rock player though that got little credit!!! Basically, to those not in the know...A Super Bass is an almost unmodified preamp from the original Tweed Bassman from which Marshall took this circuit. It is closer to the JTM100 and JTM45. It could be stated as Super Bassman!!!! Really the Lead amps are the modified amps in reference to the original design!!!!
Thanks for the great demo! Ok, so it’s pretty much not usable for bass. Thought it would get that great Jack Bruce Cream-era tone but it doesn’t seem so (at least not with that much highs coming trough …also probably due to the pickup, as mentioned).
Finally, someone actually playing a bass through one of these!
My thoughts exactly.
This demos sounds too good. Insane groove and skills from the bassplayer.
I want one of these so bad for the fuzzy bass. I’m a massive Jack Bruce fan
This is such a wealth of information without the bs.
This guy makes the best bass content on youtube. Massive thanks for all your work. Now to find a Marshall JMP MK-1 head.....
Apparently you haven't heard of Davie 504
sweet baby jesus. best bass sound ever!

I bought a Plexi clone after watching your video. Thanks for the excellent demo. :)
awesome job Mateusz! Thanks and greetings from Santiago de Chile

I play a 1972 marshall major bass head through 2x tall 2x15s...love marshall bass gear..my p's and j's sing.
Your first finger pluck playing definitely had a John Entwistle sound to it!!
thanks Mateusz.

I believe he just ran a RAT pedal out front.
Drop C is the issue in this case, but in others it uses 440 and I don't know. I would like to find out as well
your playing is so smooth 😳
Bob Daisley plugged into Randy Rhoads Marshall stack for his bass tracks on Blizzard of Ozz. Results speak for themselves.
Used to have this exact rig in my old band GMR. Was literally immense!! And your riffs are sweet dude. Great playing and video.
Amazing amp.
Amazing video Mateusz! (As always)! Thanks!
Sounds great. I've always liked Marshalls for bass. They have a certain warm punch. Million dollar question.... which BASS pedal will come closer to this tone?
This was the only video i found of the JCM 800 2x15, this thing sounds HUGE. Can you do a review of it using a Les Paul?
i dont really have time for that
I have the 4x12 version of this cab (Model 1520 with the 150w Sidewinders) and cannot give it away. Sounds killer for guitar. Never tried it with bass....
If you play it with a bass, use one with EMG pickups, you get a great tone
That’s fucking great. You understand. Not many do.
Simply awesome!
Great sounding head,thanks for uploading!
no problem:)
A great video. Thank you for uploading.
What an awesome head🔥
great demo

really nice sound...

Lucas Vecco hartke

nice amp for home practice
+Mateusz Piotrowski My peavey tko 65 bass amp still have the original 15 inch eminence speaker from the factory.

So you're saying that Jack Bruce don't know what he's doing?

hello did you used Fuzz pedal?
thanks
no
Hi Mateusz!
Can you tell me which strings are on this P-Bass? They look amazingly flexible.
its because he is playing on drop C tunning
+Jim Dragon oh yes, I must have missed that :'D
There's a reason Lemmy would use nothing else
So a bass can go into a Marshall Super Bass.
Skąd bierzesz takie fajne podkłady perkusyjne?
+Łukasz Bronowski sam robię
The strings aren't flexible, he indicated that he's using a dropped C tuning
Thanks for the great demo!
