So very helpful! Been a Zoom participant for years, but just started hosting regular meetings. Got comments from participants on the 1st meeting & I believe that this will resolve some of their observations. Thanks so much!
Thank you for this video! I wished I watched this before I had to actually use it. I did a remote podcast and I'm in Texas and my guest was in the UK. I use SquadCast although my guest's network was "red" and I tried everything to make it work but there was no audio and the video kept freezing. I always had Zoom as a backup but thus was the FIRST time in 6 yrs of podcasting that I had to use the backup because I did not want to cancel and my guest was on a book tour so who knows when we would be able to do it. We'll, we used Zoom and had no issues however I wished I watched your video before so I could have made those changes..... I have now changed all my settings per your video so I'll be ready again if the need arises. Thank you again! Your old pal from Texas (FYI: You recorded my outros and they still get compliments all these years later) 😀
News you can use! Thanks so much Mike and Isabella. This tutorial is a game changer. Newsrooms worldwide need to home in on these settings. Great news audio will be achieved by using the settings you've highlighted.
Thank you, but I have a huge question, and can't seem to find the answer anywhere!... how can I hear my OWN VOICE in my own Headset when on a Zoom Recording!!??
If you long-press on the current microphone in the microphone settings on the controller, Zoom will ask if you would like to disable all audio processing. Enabling this will hide the echo cancellation, noise reduction, and high fidelity music mode settings. It bypasses all of Zoom's audio processing.
Thank you! So clear, except could you explain something that's been unclear since the start of the Zoom era? When the upper left message says "Original Sound: On" does this mean "Original Sound IS On"? or is it a toggle telling me to "Click here to Turn ON Original Sound"? Or in other words, when I see "Original Sound: Off" does this mean "Original Sound IS Off"? Thanks!
Great info, thanks for the detailed video :) I have a question: Does your voice play through the headphone speakers when you talk? I have AKG closed-back studio headphones that have great sound but also sealed very well, which is a little weird for me to barely hear my voice during a call.
Do you have to be in a meeting to change audio settings? I can't find audio while not in a meeting and on home Zoom page!!! There is no way to get to audio settings on home page
No, you don't have to be in a meeting to change audio settings on Zoom. You can access the audio settings from the Zoom app's homepage by clicking on your profile picture and selecting "Settings."
So are these audio settings general or specific a podcast or something else? Over the last week, the music videos I created with Garage Band and iMovie are not audible to the student with which I am sharing. The same happened with a UA-cam video I tried to share. I have not changed anything so I’m baffled. I’m not sure if it’s in my end or my student’s. Any idea what has happened?
These audio settings are tailored for improving sound quality in recordings, including podcasts, music videos, and UA-cam content, so they may help troubleshoot the audio issues you're experiencing with GarageBand, iMovie, and UA-cam sharing.
Thank you Mike for that helpful detail. Likewise Isabella - and her use of "coal" to describe grungy web audio! As to the interface: I do wish Zoom would put a send-level meter onto the main screen, not just at setup. It would be a handy check on level as we go along (distracted by chatter or, as with you in this video, feel uncertain if a clip can be heard) - AND it might remind us to UNMUTE if we forget!
when you say that there’s no way to turn off echo cancellation and noise reduction, that is actually incorrect, when you enable original sound it will turn that off
How can you improve podcast audio using Zoom or any conference software when you don't have a budget for quality equipment? How can you improve the Zoom audio in post production using Adobe Audition?
Equipment and environment are the two most important investments you'll make in your audio. You can get decent mid range microphones that will sound good enough but you should also put aside some of your budget for acoustic treatment for the recording area. Having not heard your audio you may be able to boost it and improve it in Audition but it's always best to start with the best quality audio possible.
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this but your recorded audio for this video is not great. Too much low end and too much hiss audible in the background.

Awesome program

This is amazing and super useful, thanks Mike. Would your guest need to do the same setting, or does your settings override theirs?
I'd recommend all parties are set up for the best audio
Thanks for the insightful video. It could have been better if you showed us about the recording settings in zoom

I have a question: Does your voice play through the headphone speakers when you talk?

That depends on your audio set up.
just leaving a comment for this excellent video to help the algorithm along...

He's a dumb question; if I use Riverside , does that automatically mean everyone in the meeting has to be using Riverside as well?

So awesome! Now we just need a tutorial on improving other peoples audio and meeetings you didn't revord yourself! 😄
Refer them to this video before they start recording 👍
@@MikeRussell I'll try to convince the 5k people in my org to do that 😆👍
Problems are always best solved before they happen 👍👍
Excellent video! Thanks! When I am the one recording, does the participant need to have all these settings, e.g., having the original sound on?

That's not made clear at all in the settings window. The fact that one is overriding the other should be visually indicated.
@@donaloflynn it should, it should be auditorially indicated too, since you know, I’m blind and I don’t use visual but yeah you’re right.
