Amazing playing of a difficult excerpt on a treacherous, difficult instrument. The call was written for a very different instrument with a different air column and much better control over articulation and pitch of individual notes. Doing what was done here is the equivalent of doing a complex tap dance wearing diving boots. It sounds much better than I would have expected and the pitch and accuracy are likewise extraordinary. This guy did a great job and deserves praise (and will doubtless be relieved to go back to the safer territory of Wagner Tuba writing in the Ring and Bruckner.
You've successfully given a college tubist the courage to learn this on F tuba, thank you. If you can do this piece on the chimeric abomination known as the Wagner tuba I think I can manage haha.
Well done that Fella. I've played Horn for many years and it has its "little ways", but not as many as the B flat Wagner Tube which is played here. That is a freak of an instrument. The F Wagner Tube has better intonation but being a longer instrument, duplicates the F Horn's treacherous nature in the upper octave. I was on Horn 8 and F WT for a performance of R Strauss's Alpine Symphony. It went well but was like walking a tightrope at times.
@@wagnertuba1265 Strauss Horn Concerto No 1 on Wagner Tuba would be a Game Changer. Morceau de concert by Saint Seans on Wagner Tuba would also be a game changer because French Horn players would be amazed when they use the Wagner Tuba as an alternative Horn.
Thank you for watching the video and commenting. Also, thank you for suggested the background of the character. We want Siegfried to continue to be our hero over time.
Oh no bud!!! I was talking about the Horn's tone! You played a very difficult piece very well! No I was just talking about the Horn's itself! Wasn't a criticism of your playing. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for watching. The Wagner tuba is a difficult but very attractive instrument to play. Please see again if you like.

Wonderful! Thanks for demonstrating this unusual instrument.
Anything written for French Horn can be played on Wagner Tuba.
Thank you for watching the video. You're exactly right. We will convey the charm of Wagner tuba.

@@wagnertuba1265 Wagner Tuba is very big in versatility
The Wagner tuba is a cross between a tuba and a French horn.
Actually a trombone and horn :) Wagner wanted an instrument with a tone between the two
first call: stupid call for fool heroes, second call: deep call for real heroe

I see no point to the existence of the Wagner Tuba but the playing is next level, good work
Thanks for the comment. I would like to make more use of the Wagner tuba, which has limited performance opportunities.
Muy mal!
gracias!
Sounds like a cheap beginner's single horn. Not a fan. Sorry.
Thank you for watching. I will practice harder.
