It was only a few months ago winter was with us, and those people forgot how to drive in winter weather during that time? Amazing. With ice and/or snow on the roads, slow or no go is the rule. Especially on a hill.
When it's necessary to transport something, tie it down securely. And secure the tailgate. Or, finders keepers.

My ex-husband and I went on vacation to the USA four times in the early 90s. We made about 20 thousand miles and it was always a relaxing ride. We have never experienced such situations. A lot has probably changed.
