Other essential books of his include his massive synthesis of the Jack the ripper crimes/Victorian England, From Hell, his gargantuan literary/pop-cultural melange of a mash-up, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, his brilliantly written prose novels set in his hometown, Voice of the Fire and Jerusalem, and his dark, amusing, clever filtering of Lovecraft's works, Providence, not ignoring the epic fable of human sexuality and pornography, Lost Girls. Not many writers have that kind of range.

Providence/The Courtyard/Neonomicon for me. I'm a huge Lovecraft fan, and this series as so many easter eggs and hidden trivia/references in it!

His well known masterpieces V for Vendetta,Watchmen,From Hell,The League’,Saga of the Swamp Thing are rightly held up in praise. While watchmen is undoubtedly a serious take of superheroes & it is a masterpiece but it’s far from fun.If you want the most fun Alan Moore superhero books you need to read his TOP 10 series.Get the ABSOLUTE EDITION if you can because it includes top 10 vol’ 1&2,SMAX & the prequel TOP 10 the 49ers.It costs a small fortune 2nd hand though but it’s amazing & shows a love for superheroes that I never knew existed in Alan Moore.Gene Ha & Zander Cannons artwork matches the quality of the writing, you can tell they all had a blast creating this world of superhero’s,the fun they had jumps out of every panel/page!

My favorite is From Hell. Eddie Campbells art is amazing and Alan Moores take on jack the ripper is really good. It's his grand epic so epic that there is 2 appendixes for the damn thing

Why does no one mention Alan Moore's "Top 10"😩? That one is my personal favorite! A world where everyone is super powered!

From Hell is, for me, Alan Moore's most accomplished and emotionally powerful work. Patriarchy, the dark abyss underpinning the human soul, becomes the root of all evil. Moore subverts God, religion, the bible and our entire social and political structure. From Hell shows a hopelessness alleviated only by a V for Vendetta.

"watchmen" isnt a group tho, there were the minutemen, and the first meeting of "the crimebusters" is depicted in the story with the comedians rant etc and the crimebusters never became a group.

I know this has nothing to do with this video, BUT after watching your last video again I just wanted to tell you Lemire and Sorrentino didn't just work on Green Arrow and Gideon Falls. They also did an Old man Logan run together a few years ago and it was pretty damn good!

Bolland used David Bowie as an inspiration for his Joker. If you look at pictures from the Diamond Dogs era it's super obvious.

I've read The Killing Joke and The Watchmen. I think The Killing Joke is solid but I do think it's kinda overrated. I don't consider it cream of the crop when it comes to Batman stories. The Watchmen, I've read all the way through and whilst I do appreciate certain aspects in the book, I had a hard time keeping engaged. I don't mind deconstructing characters and such since I do find that sorta stuff interesting but maybe Alan Moore's writing style isn't my cup of tea. Perhaps I should probably reread them at some point to see whether I change my stance on it. I do want to check out V For Vendetta and Swamp Thing as well. I do understand that he was a very revolutionary writer for his time and inspired those during his time as well as those that came after him.

All good man. Not every writer is gonna fit what you enjoy. I don't like Chris Ware's books but the man is praised in the industry.

Definitely read Swamp Thing, it's great! It's a dark deconstruction, but it's not cynical and actually quite optimistic.

@@edwardgrierson1460 I went on holiday this summer, came across a book store which had a lot mangas and comics. They had Alan Moore's Swamp Thing and I read a bit of the first volume. It seemed quite promising and it could be the book from him that really resonates with me like that.
