    My wife & I just honeymooned there. We stayed at the Embleton B&B at 52 & 52; she made her own bowl at the Old Town Glassworks (left side of the loop at 4:34), & photo'd the boat ramp at the end of the video with a low moon over the horizon. Since it dropped to -9c & the Northern Lights were elusive at best, we enjoyed the great indoors (hot tub & unmentionables that newlyweds do).

      @@dandychigginsshrekentrepreneur Yellow knife is a very rough place with many transient miners and other labourers . Its not a place where you want to be a " visible minority " .
      Paranoia is often focused on " foreigners" stealing their jobs which manifests itself in the use of many colorful racial epitaphs being used in general language .
      Even in family oriented franchise restaurants , its common to hear loud drunken rough necks spewing out their foul language peppered with many racist metaphors .
      Most places in Canada's north are rough , and Yellowknife is right up there.
      Whitehorse would be a better choice if one wants the northern experience .

      NOTE : I have provided a new link to the girl that was murdered , as the original link i provided no longer existed. Presumably because , in their grief , the family of the murdered girl said they " hated " Canada for what happened to their daughter.
      Remember what i said about Canada's PR ?
      People are led to believe Canada is a safe place . I have road traveled the vast majority of this country and can say nothing is farther from the truth .
      Here is a very sad story just from today where a young girl from India was murdered . She like others thought Canada was safe .

      All she wanted to do was get an education.
      Not so long ago a German family was in Canada on vacation when some natives pulled along side and one SHOT the German father in the head . JUST FOR FUN !!
      A family destroyed because they believed the PR . about this country. In my travels ( solo motorcycle ) I have has 2 attempts on my life ( in rural areas ) as well as other " interesting " encounters along the way.
      And as far as the racism goes , my wife is a visible minority ( thai ) and we have witnessed racism and discrimination on a number of occasions ( by Canadian women ) , especially in small town Canada. One time she was attacked in a restaurant by a hate filled Canadian woman just because my wife was Asian. It made the papers that time .

    It looks SO much better than Winnipeg... I have a question, is it colder in Whitehorse or in Yellowknife?

    • @aburg10s
      @aburg10s 6 років тому

      Yellowknife is colder than Whitehorse in most cases. It can still get quite warm in the knife in the summer, whereas Whitehorse's temperature is moderated slightly by the surrounding mountains and being closer to the ocean

    In european traditional concept of street, there is no streets at all in here. People are isolated in distant buildings, in the middle of nowhere, with so hard a climate.

      agreed ! I was in a family franchise restaurant there years ago and there was a table full of drunken miners who were cursing up a storm.. It mattered not to them ( or management ) that there were were several families with children nearby.
