However, I do think the Empress Ciri ending best embodies the tone and themes of the whole story. It is not perfect, but as the game has shown, sometimes for the greater good, a Witcher has to let go, embrace his place in the story and simply be witness in a moment of the grand making.
Although many people like the ending in where Ciri and Geralt stay together as witchers I think this is the best, and more realistic one; because finally Ciri realize that despite Geralt is important for her, she has grown and her priorities had change so she can't follow the same path than Geralt and on the other hand Geralt doesn't want to renouce to his way of life for her, because that wouldn't be fair too.
This is the true ending. Geralt and Ciri come full circle, having acquired what was sought after for so long, but changing along the way as to have to let go of each other and walk their own paths. Geralt calling Ciri a witcher feels so rewarding to hear. And props to you for choosing all the dialogue choices that I personally think fit the most cinematically, emphasizing that it was Ciri's choice alone to go to Nilfgaard. She has become her own woman; as well as Geralt correcting Ciri to say that it IS goodbye which is reflective to me of his character willing to face the future with determination.

I really wanted to say this 2:19 in my second playthrough since it truly was a final goodbye, because I choose Yen and wouldn't ever see her again. However I couldn't bring myself to do it felt to cruel, depressing and well....final.
You know I think both endings have their pros and cons. If Ciri does become a witcher, she is finally free of her tethers and can at long last achieve the freedom she yearned for so long and ends up putting her training and knowledge to use, but, it is true that only as the Queen of Nilfgard can she make a true difference to the world and it is her birthright in the end. Becoming a witcher won't serve her in any way. However, Ciri was never meant to be an empress. She never wanted this life. She'd prefer to sleep on the roadside and move constantly, than to be bound in Nilfgard living a life of luxury, with so many tedious responsibilities. Besides, if Dijkstra takes the North, Emhyr will be assassinated, so what will we become of Ciri? In that sense, it's probably best for her to become a witcher, which will also bring her fame and reputation.

actually, you can tell ciri is not happy to be empress and either she's not sure geralt can't even look at her, and ciri does not want to say good bye doesnt want to let him go, so disappointing, but in witcher ending where geralt and ciri will fight against monsters, she's so so happy and laughing. Also in this ending music is depressing however in witcher ending music is joyable
I think it's better with the goodbye choice too. But I hate this ending in general. Like why does Ciri has to break both their fucking heart. She's a witcher and she wouldn't look good in black like geralt said.
I think this ending is better than the one in where you say you'll seeing each other just to drive the knife a bit more but I think there should have been a moment where ciri look back to get one glimpse but garelt should have been gone just to hit the nail even more.
It's either this or the "bad" ending for me. I never make the choices to get it, but it fits this grim world so well. I guess I'm tired of happy endings all the time or just depressed xD
did she visit you later in your vineyard in Toussaint after you tell her that´s the final goodbye or didn´t show up? the saddest part of this ending is that she gives him back the silver sword that was a gift from him to her, she should have kept it as a memory from her dad (Geralt)
Im so glad i got this ending with geralt doing all the good things for ciri. Most people would feel disappointed that they didnt get the witcher ending in spite of doing everything right but im happy i got the true ending

The memories shown in those flashbacks, however, are integral to *not* get a worst ending, where Ciri never comes back from the White Cold.

In my 2 playthroughs I never received this scene. In my case both of the time Emyr goes down by the hands of internal conspirators and Ciri becomes a Witcher. And she seems quite happy about it.

I wouldn't say so. It was her choice between the two and nobody forced her into anything. So I believe she wanted to become empress after all.

It is not a silver sword and it is not a gift from Geralt. Ciri got her sword in the books. I won't spoil you.. go check the books.
