☁️ 흐린날 인향과 환향 태우기
오늘과 같이 흐리고 축축한 날에는 고요히 방안에 앉아 촛불을 한대 키고 연기가 피어 오르지 않는 향과 향재를 다지는 행위에 집중하기 좋은 것 같습니다. 옛날 일본 다실에서는 손님들을 위해 연기가 피어 오르지 않도록 이러한 간접적인 방식을 통해서 맞이했대요. 오늘, 여러분들을 위해 영상으로 나마 정성스럽게 향을 올리겠습니다.
향을 불에 바로 갖다대어 태울 수도 있지만 좀 더 은은하게 향을 음미하기 위해서는 소라다키라는 형태로 향을 태웁니다. 소라다키는 일본어로 '공중에서 태운다'를 의미합니다. 이는 향을 태울때 향연이 거의 보이지 않기 때문에 어디선지 모르게 은은하게 들려오는 소리를 말한대요.. 소라다키 형식으로 태울 때는 주로 두가지 형태의 향을 사용합니다. 바로 인향과 환향이에요.

On a cloudy day like this, the best thing to do is probably sit in a quiet corner and focus on making an ash hill to burn incense and read a book with a cup of tea. In a Japanese tearoom, a host welcome guests with a simplified incense ceremony in a respectful manner by making the least smoke within the room. Today, I would like to welcome you in this utmost manner virtually although the scent cannot be delivered. But I hope I could serve you one day in this way in the near future.
There are many ways of burning incense but typically two types of burning exist - direct and indirect. In Japan, this indirect burning style is called soradaki which means burning in the air without much smoke. It also signifies a scent that is being travelled without knowing its origin in a mild way. In this video, I used two different types of incense - black and round-shaped kneaded incense as well as pressed incense which just looks like wagashi, japanese sweets.
