- Piers Morgan Uncensored with Rosanna Lockwood is joined by LGBT Manchester Foundation's Freda Wallace and transgender journalist and teacher Debbie Hayton to debate Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's consideration on a ban on trans women being allowed in female-only spaces.
Debbie believes that both trans women and cis women have been let down badly by poorly-written laws becoming based on feelings rather than the bigger structural issue. But Freda argues that it is more about societal norms. She also believes that transgender people are being used as a "political football" to play into the prejudice they face.
The debate continues to get heated until Freda starts to ask whether Debbie uses 'Mr' or 'Mrs', insisting it is important to know because it will decide their entitlement to women's safe spaces. Debbie reveals that she goes by 'Dr' and that it really isn't as big of a deal that Freda is making it out to be.

But honestly... Does it get in the way of your life if the two of them identify as women? My whole thing when it comes to transgender issues is this: as long as they're not hurting anyone, then it's really not any of my business. If a person chooses to identify as a man or a woman (or something else), it literally causes no one any harm, so it's absolutely none of my business what they do. I don't want anyone to tell me what I can and cannot do, so I'll have to give others the same freedom.

@@peterb9407 to refute that argument, I would make the proposition that there is a distinct and significance difference between being gay (as it’s a sexuality) and being transgender (as it’s a mental health [gender identify] disorder). Therefore, accommodating gay people by imputing legislative protections and various other laws that helped them out socially and legally was equitable, whereas accommodating trans people by encroaching on the rights of actual biological women by letting men with penises into their spaces is a violation of their autonomy that should never have been facilitated.

I have so much respect for Dr Debbie. As a women it’s comforting to hear her views on this rise of men trying to access my private spaces where I should feel safe, and be able to undress without a male gaze or worse. I love men, as most women do - but the male sex drive is one of the strongest things on the planet, so when I’m not protected by my husband I don’t want males in spaces where I am vulnerable. So thank you Debbie - such a well spoke, dignified and kind human being. As for Freda, I could attack her like she did Debbie, but I’ll take the high road - the other comments have done it for me 😊

Freda's aggressive attitude is typical of the toxic part of trans activism. It's that side of things that is causing problems for the genuine trans people with dysphoria who view trans as a binary issue and just want to live their life passing as the sex they identify as. As a retired mam I am not comfortable with modern fathers, while caring for their children, bring their daughters into the men's toilet. I enter a gents and there was a pretty little girl, 4-6yo, standing at the wash basins and then there was me. I couldn't see anybody else and almost panicked. Not wanting to be discovered in this situation. The father was in a cubical, wasn't visible and I didn't know.

Linguistically they are terms of respect like -san in japanese. Freda should have reworded the question to be actually correct, i.e. "what gender do you identify as". Debbie is the kind of trans woman who understands that in order for her to be respected as a "her", she has to respect the wishes of the majority of women she identifies with. Notice how she says she identifies WITH women, not AS a woman. Therein lies the best differentiator that perfectly reflects the reality so many people have lost touch with. She understands her notion of what she thinks is womanhood can and never will be the same as that what the majority of biological women consider and live as womanhood. Therefore she is identifying with them, which is very understandable and easy to respect/accept, but does not go beyond that line and claims to now be an actual woman. Trans women like Debbie should be the gold standard for trans women to model themselves after when they are 100% sure they also identify with women. Trans women who believe they are women in ever sense of the gender and sex and want the majority to bend to their will have simply caused more harm to their "movement" than ever before. Case in point, I never had issues with trans people for the entirety of my life until they decided its time to compete against women in sports, share their bathrooms and toilets, and make their entire personality and political agenda about their assumed gender. So big shoutout to Debbie for keeping it real.
