I absolutely agree with you. May I also say. Parents should, at the first sign of gender identity issues with their 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, … year old opt for a co-ed school for their child.

I went to a private Ladies College, our teachers usually greeted us with "good morning ladies" no one ever got offended by this. It was just a standard greeting...

It’s more than that even. It means the school is misrepresenting what they actually do and the parents are being charged for it. Either “boys” are allowed there and the parents get their money back or, the “boys” have to leave.

I recently flew from London to Boston and was in the middle seat close to an obese woman in the aisle seat who was taking a third of my seat. 7+ hours of very uncomfortable experience, being squeezed in my own seat. The flight was full, so there was no way we could be reseated me and my partner.
I complained to British Airways. They refuse to change their policies: obese customers should be forced to buy two seats.. They have offered me a £100 voucher ($120 roughly).. Absolutely insulting.
Pfff, you are *very* lucky! If that happened in my country, they would straight up laugh into my face and tell me to f 0ff with the demands.
You know about 10 years ago there was a lawsuit involving a passenger and an airline. There was an article in “The Economist”. The man suffered some injury because he was squished by an obese person next to him for hours. That was a full transatlantic flight.
I once was in your situation on the plane as well thank god for just 2 hours, but that was a torture.

While I appreciate everyone’s take on my weight, my point is that my choices in life should not impact other people. And for Broc I do drink over a half a gallon of water each day, no soda, maybe a glass of wine once in awhile, and I do walk 30 minutes each day. It’s the darn bread and pasta.
No freaking way! You want comfort, PAY FOR IT! The seats are not comfortable for most of us even though we pay for them.
And those seats are even less comfortable when a regularly-sized person has to sit next to a fat person who tries to squeeze into one seat.
She needs at least two possibly three seats. We should not have to pay for her fat
And why should the airline pay for that extra seat by sacrificing the fare that could have been purchased by another passenger? And can you imagine the can of worms that would be opened if airlines did allow this? Moderately overweight people would start insisting that they aren’t comfortable and that an extra seat should be “available” for them should they want it.
i'd pay for a "2nd Class Ticket" where we pay a little more for a portion of the plane that limits passenger weight to 200 lbs and is the business class - working or sleeping - NO LOUD CONVERSATIONS.

Yes... Low weight people could also pay less in airplane flights, as their lower weight makes the plane consume less fuel and hurt less the environment.
Health ensurance could harge less people with good health (low blood sugar and loe cholesterol, not high blood pressure, no vices) instead of use just the age as reference.

My wife has been a teacher for 30 years. She can't wait to retire at the end of this school year. This kind of thing is the reason why. You can not give children this kind of power over their teacher. If you do, the teacher loses all control over the classroom and you have chaos. And no one learns in an environment of chaos. In order to create an environment conducive to learning, the teacher MUST have control of their classroom. It does not work to give children control over the classroom.
When I hear that someone is studying to be a teacher now I tell them straight up "you must be crazy ". I was an educator as well, I finished after covid! Just couldn't go back to the insanity!

I'm a 36 y/o plus size woman. I would NEVER demand/expect a free seat (or more, depending how big I am). If I couldn't afford to buy as many seats as I need, I wouldn't fly. It's that simple. I also went to a girls school during my high school years. The teachers used to address us as girls/ladies/young women all the time. It was never an issue. The world's gone completely mad.

If the travel industry is forced to accommodate people like this Instagram user with a "free" seat, then everybody else's fare is going to increase in response. The airline industry is not just going to take a loss here. This has nothing to do with being "inclusive," "marginalizing people," or any other buzzword you want to come up with. I might have some sympathy for this woman if she didn't act so entitled. It's not the world's responsibility to adapt to this woman's condition. So if you want a solution to this problem, try this one: this woman either loses weight or takes another mode of transportation.

We, healthy people, have been very generous in paying the same price as them while we had less space when sitting next to them. It's high time airlines started pricing their tickets after weight. I'm not allowed to carry 5kg extra in my luggage, but she's allowed to carry 100kg extra under her skin for free!? Charge her more even for a single ticket, if she really wants to play *fair*

I witnessed an oversized lady at the airport I worked at having to come sideways through an archway metal detector before other passengers were allowed in the area, in tears because she was embarrassed. She took up two seats on the plane too. If it is so bad, don`t travel.
I weigh 87 kg and still have to pay if my on boarding luggage is more than 7 kg, total of 94 kg. But if I’m 1kg over I must pay extra. Why is it fair that a person can be 30 odd kgs over this amount and not have to pay anything extra.

My sister is blind with a seeing eye dog and always has to pay for first class for the extra room for her dog. She’s not rich but does not complain about having to spend the extra money for her needs. Pay your own way. Cut back on your groceries if you can’t afford it. That’s what everyone else does.

Well I do agree but frankly she has found she is on her own with her disability. She literally doesn’t have eyes. She wears prosthetic eyes and takes very good care of herself. She is polite, kind and beautiful. Dresses beautifully and is respectful to others but still is on her own and the paperwork she has to present for her certified government trained dog is unbelievable. When I hear these obese people complain it just makes me sick!

I don't care who you are - I don't think airlines should have to use CONCRETE STEPS to reinforce their aircraft to accommodate the stress put on their air-frames by customers like the guest on this talk show.
Regarding airplane seats. They are too unreasonably too small for the sake of profit. A normal seat should be at minimum as big as a formal dining room table seat. Airplane seats are way too small.
Yes, just in general whether you're obese or not I think planes are ridiculously cramped and if anything the fault mainly lies with the capitalistic nature of airline companies and the lack of other competitive options in the market. I'm a small, skinny woman and I can barely even squeeze down the aisle to even get to my seat, and in the seat there is no arm or leg room, no space to recline to sleep on long flights, barely enough room to even sit and the seats are usually un-ergonomic in design. My entire body is aching after a few hours due to the extreme discomfort. I have no idea how everyone else who is normally bigger than I am does it.
While I 100% do not think other people paying for obese people is the solution (them getting "free seats") in a way I do actually understand where the obese people are coming from. People just assume that it's a choice to be obese, which is not always true. There are so many medical, genetic and mental health factors that can have obesity as a symptom that is very difficult and sometimes impossible to treat, so why should they have to pay more for something they can't necessarily control? And it's not only obese people, what about really tall people? They obviously can't control that either and are made much more uncomfortable by the small space they get than normal.
To be honest I'm not sure what the solution is but I think long-term it should have something to do with more viable long distance travel options being available than just aircrafts, right now there's nothing people can do if they want to travel but are too big to fit in a plane seat and can't afford to buy additional space. Either that or researching ways to advance technology and reduce the use of fuel so that air travel can be more comfortable and accommodating for everyone.
Someone decides to screw their health up and eat way more than their body needs, and an airline should pay for that? This is insane.
And we have to pay extra if our luggage is two pounds over.

I've been a big guy almost al my life till now , i swear to God everytime i fly i book a seat that's at least not in the middle , come on , it's common sense , they're just bitter . I was once on a flight with a very fat guy who needed a seat and a half. It was great for me because I got the other half plus my own seat!

I have many times drawn the short straw on business trips and been caught in the middle seat with plus-sized people either side. Thankfully, I went on so many trips that, after a while, I started to be upgraded to first class pretty often.

@@taroman7100 yes but most ‘obese’ people are in the BMI 30-35 range and can easily fit into a standard plane seat (my BMI is 31 so I just qualify as obese but on a recent long haul flight I was perfectly comfortable). The entitled young woman on the video I would guess was in the 45-50 BMI range which, even in the obese USA, puts her in the top 2%. So, in short, no airlines don’t cater to the ‘select few’ but the 98% of the public who aren’t the size of a resting walrus.

My husband is 6’2” muscular, weighs 230, and he’s over weight too on the chart. He looks fantastic.

No. If you cannot fit in the designated seat you pay for, then you should be subject to purchasing another seat to accommodate your size. Why should the airline be subject to the loss of revenue from the loss of an extra seat by giving it to you for free. It unfortunate that someone is too big, but how is that the airline's problem? Let's not even talk about evacuation and people who can't get around her and her slow moving state. She can save and fly first class and purchase seat 1A. I fly first class, average size and I have a ton of room and leg room since nobody is in front of you or next to you. I always fly seat 1A. NOT OUR PROBLEM.
Back in the 80s a rotund friend of my late mothers went to the doctors complaining that she was experiencing pains in her knees. On examining the lady the doctor said that he thought her weight was the problem and that she was too heavy, he also said that a fortnight in Belson would sort her out.

I used to be quite heavy but I’ve dropped 70 pounds in the last three years and I want to lose another 15 pounds . I’ve been working on it steadily . I got very tired of not being healthy .
They objected to the word "girls" because the word itself has been used to demonise young women... "You run like a girl", "You hit like a girl". I can see why they would object to a word that sees them as inferior in some way. I have always hated being referred to as a girl, when with a group of grown women. I'm not a "girl" I'm a fully grown adult human female and don't appreciate being infantilised in such a fashion. The word has been so dehumanised there was an advertisement made in an effort to try and empower "young girls".. You can see it yourself by tying "Like a girl commercial" in UA-cam search.

Back in the very early 1990's, as I was teaching elementary school in Florida, I was appalled when "participation ribbons" began to be given to students "just because they tried." That was to be followed by many awards for many things that were not about excellence. It has finally come to this point where there is no respect for authority or for any sort of order. Chaos is what we now have even to the point that people who ruin their health with being grossly obese expect special treatment from the rest of us.

The whole world has gone crazy. People have lost all sense. Where have all these ludicrous ideas come from.
For my standards, I got overweight after I started a remote working job and i got lazy and stopped working out. I was not happy with myself and didn't even like looking at the mirror sometimes. Then I woke up one day and realised that nobody in the grownup world will wave a magic wand and make your problems go away. You have to take care of that yourself. So I started going back to the gym two weeks ago and stopped eating unhealthy food and I am turning things around. The people that try to embrace being unhealthy on social media and taking the easy/looser way out is a very bad thing. They do it because it's easy, not because it's the harder option that requires you to get up and do something about it.
