What an ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL piece of equipment! I'd have to say I'd be totally confused in the beginning to be sitting at one end! The functionality of this is quite different but practical at the same time. CONGRATULATIONS on being chosen amongst all the farmers across the country to sit aboard it 1st hand! Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA.
I’m from Spain, 65 years old, and I just sat and watched this 1.5-hour video on agricultural machinery, unable to stop. The machinery is so modern that I wish we had such technology in my time to improve labor productivity. In the past, we worked on farms using handheld tools. I admire the scientists and young people who have created these perfect machines, enhancing productivity and product quality. I hope you will enjoy the fruits of your hard work. Well done, everyone
I see this video, this machine, and I immediately think back to your South America tour, and those vast acres... seems like this would be right at home there... domestically... it's always efficiency vs cost... never escape that. Awesome video, please don't ever stop 🙂
Love that machine, Laura. I prefer having different machines doing different jobs. Spreads the risk of breakdowns. But what a combine! Really awesome machine. As always, love you guys! Great content!
City Boy here I knew absolutely nothing about farming , Thank you for making this entertaining and teaching a old man something new, you make this enjoyable to watch, normally I watch wood working but you came onto my feed and I am thankful
It's nice that they included you on the prototype of this machine. I think it will be sometime before this machine would be (if ever) widely used. I have a hard time imagining many farmers would opt to replace nearly their entire fleet of equipment which most likely contains at least 2 tractors and a combine as well as the various implements for this one machine. Although it can do it all if it breaks down you not can't use any of your other implements. Where is the closest dealership for service/parts support? You and I both know in any field operation time is of the essence and there isn't a lot of extra time waiting for parts or service. It's entirely different from the ground up from anything else in the field currently, which seems like it would hurt it's value not being able to hookup to the standard Ag tractor.
I think (I do sometimes) that much of your channel's success is due to the child like glee so obvious in this segment. Don't ever lose it. I have been watching since you were still with your dad raising a few head that were being fed on your silage and slash. To see this level of glee, joy, true wonder at what you are doing, takes me back to some of your first videos. Keep it. Always keep it.
What is more amazing that out of all the corn fields in USA, that you were chosen to hi-lite this incredible machine!!! What an honor, congratulations!!! Certainly you can afford to keep this machine on your farm for field preparation and planting.. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
It was amazing seeing it in person, was up to Todd's, helping (in my mind??I was not really doing much lol) last week, they were picking popcorn with the Netax machine, Ate supper at the MQett bar, what a great group of German guy's, Felix was a hoot!!! What an awesome experience thank you for the video
Good Lord, what machine!!!! This thing staggers the imagination but there it is. Laura, you keep on being the pioneer of future farming. You go girl !!!!
If you have a lot of planted SECTIONS ...man could I see this harvest monster pay off. Especially as it can to everything you need it to do for all season of plant, fert, till, harvest etc etc . They side cab for the drive gives an awesome view of what you are doing and the payload that just took in so quick to dump is crazy. Now I am not a farmer but I work in Oil, Gas and Mining. The new equipment coming out is doing 4 to5 times the excavation, breakdown and sorting that I never thought was possible. Makes sense for a big farm with like 40 sections or to replace all the equipment attachments as you mentioned this comes with all your seasonal gear you need to run your crops. That side view is what I really like and the wideness with short wheel base. This is crazy exciting to see!!
Laura, I'm so pleased to have found your channel some time ago. I grew up on a hog, veggie, guava, and wine farm near Cape Town, South Africa, but took a different career route due to personal situation. I also have a friend who farmed maize in the North West of South Africa, so have an understanding of maize farming and farming in general. It is an honor to follow you and Greg and experience the triumphs you have had as young people entering a very difficult career field. I am also looking forward to the next milestone in your professional progression. O, as a techno junky that machine is awesome. I which I could see it in person and you are so privileged to be a part of its journey.
I'm no farmer, but that machine is a MONSTER!! You should do a video analysing whether the (significant) cost can be justified -1 machine rather than 3/4/5 etc - and what size farm would be needed to justify. As some have mentioned, they'd prob need to partner with a local manufacturer to provide service, and whether said manufacturer would wish to may be moot... Otherwise, love your videos - even as a non-farmer! And English!!
I agree 100% !. I would really like to see the cost breakdown of this machine vs. The " conventional " machines it would replace and what the payback period would be.
You might need to hire an additional cart and trailer driver. If you can harvest more bushels per hour, they would need more manpower. Might need to buy more land to average the cost per acre better. 🤷
What an amazing design---and a total 180* from combine designs throughout history. The designers/engineers deserve whatever profits/riches come their way. A truly ground-breaking concept.
$2.7M, that is some piece of equipment. Laura I really like how you give us all the details. Having been in show business, your production impresses me very much.
Reading all the comments, everyone worrying about breakdowns. This is German engineering at it's best. There has been a lot of R&D go into this massive project. It is being evaluated around the world in all facets of this component, planter, sprayer, seed drill, combine and not sure of harvester for silage. Deere has not won many friends lately with their computer updating etc.
Everything breaks down sooner or later and then you have the typical wear and tear. I owned a German made corn head by Geringhoff (great company) it was a great head no doubt, and I had break downs and typical wear points even with German engineering.
hey, I'm from Germany. These machines are built very close to me. The company was only founded in 2017. I'm curious to see how this system will be implemented worldwide.
So CLAAS combines never break down? Because they are also German engineering at its best. Every machine breaks down. No matter what nationalistic bias you have.
So amazingly impressive! You did a fantastic job of showing and describing this magnificent machine! But the cost! How does a farmer afford this luxurious piece of machinery??
That combine is so amazing but the cost im not sure about. I have not seen anything like that in my 54 year old life. You always have the best videos and thank you so much for that. God bless you and Grant.
i dont know. its 4 machines in one. you would need a combine + 1 tractor and 3 attachments to exchange this. i dont know what a conventional setup would end up with, but its not too far off i imagine..... and only one set of spares needed.....making logistics easier i guess
Awesome video as always ❤ The only issue I can think is you are an awful far away from the end rows, say gps is slightly out you miss the furthest row you wouldn’t even notice until you turned
It's amazing seeing that much crop, it's like looking out at the ocean, the water just goes on forever. Hopefully it's a really good yield it looks good.
Pretty interesting Laura. I think you, Grant and I saw this machine for the first time at the 2023 Farm Progress Show. Not a very good comparison; but the basic principle of this, using a basic platform with interchangeable attachments, to combine soybeans and wheat, shell corn, pick ear corn, plant, blow snow, etc. is sort of like the New Idea, "Uni Harvester" from the late 1960's and 1970's. Really looking forward to you and Grant harvesting your own crops.
If you get all the attachment to do everything then yes But I thing they should through the grain carts needed to keep up Or at least a good price on a mother bin for your field
@dwightl5863 They also had their combine in the field too, so all the grain carts and trucks were not just for that machine. But that thing is definitely a beast!
Great you get to see and I think use this big machine. I hope you know some of the things that aired the last few days gets you to wonder, I wish they stop doing this. You have a great day and hope to see more of you in your videos. Thx Laura.
wowzah, sure beats our Versatile 14 Pull type combine from the 70"s. I did custom combining in 1976 for a season. 7700 JD combine. I was a farm boy so I got to run the combine all summer. Loved it. Love your channel and all the cool stuff you show us. I really like the Red tour from a week ago. Go Red.
the drone footage / the music , and the memory of sitting on a combine bagging oats 1 bag at a time ,,,,, it's just to much . i coulda had time to go to the creek . just wow .
Laura, I can only imagine the maintenance cost and being a new product, I would certainly wait a couple of years for test results...it could be an Edsel🤔🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣... still lovin'it from Texas 💖
as with all new equipment. but as you only have ONE piece of equipment i could imagine, that spare parts and maintenance is even more easy and cost effective.
For only 2.7 million you get one machine that’ll do everything… WORTH IT!!!! As long as each attachment is included in that price definitely worth it! A combine alone is 1.2 million, let alone the planter, sprayer, discs,
And there is never a scenario where you might want to use two of these machines at the same time? For example if you have a crop that needs spraying right before harvest, now you can't use your 2.7mil combine to combine a different field at that same time.
That is interesting machine but for the cost I don't know how many people will want to go that way you can get a lot of stuff for the price of the machine. But it was cool to see it harvest after seeing the first video. I like all your videos keep making great videos.
Well Laura, my first thought is how in the world will that huge machine stay in service. Really big machines have an entire different set of problems. It is a clever design and its capacity is huge. I imagine that it is very heavy and field conditions will definitely affect the performance. On the other hand the transformer type of roading it is insanely clever. The cab is worlds ahead of anything that I have ever seen except for monstrous coal harvesting equipment. I am also very fond of green paint so brand loyalty is more than a little thing to me. At the very least you have experienced something entirely new and unique in the world of farming. Great episode. Best Regards Your Pal Al
That is quite an accolade to be allowed to demonstrate that machine first. Great machine great farmers. Fantastic machine fantastic operation from planting to harvest. Well done to all
That sounds like an amazing experience! Being part of the prototype process must give you a unique perspective on the technology and its capabilities. I'd love to hear more about what makes this combine so incredible!
After the last NEXAT video, I was really looking forward to this one. Keep 'em up! Is it worth it? Difficult to tell. Another reason if its existence is to limit/ minimize ground compacting, which may not make this big of a difference when you already have all those pivot tracks running circle around the field? Also, I hope we get to see it next year and maybe they even have the DAMMANN 225ft sprayer unit in the US by then. Small point: Is it possible to check the mic for mono vs stereo settings in the next video? Dont get me wrong, my left ear loved it, just my right one was a little lonely.. Thank you :)
While I love our Laura Close Up tours, Grant's scenic Drone views capture the awesome nature of these new fangled monsters! More Drone Shots Grant! ❤❤❤
Been following development of the Nexat for some time now. It's quite incredible. Something that might be an issue having one machine to do it all, is that you have to finish one operation (say cultivating) before moving on to the next. With regular tractors, you could have one hooked to the cultivator and one to the planter, and alternate operations depending on weather. (Or anything else that might prevent you from doing one of the jobs at any time)
Just buy five of them 🤣🤣 No seriously, having been a mechanic for over 30 years, a do-it-all machine is stressed out pretty much all of the time and as you said, doesn't allow you to run simultanuous operations. Having said that, lately machines like these tend to be more and more reliable. The future will prove if this is a solid idea and for hat type of farm.
You should be able to sync the grain cart to the combine. A GPS on both should provide enough data to control the two so that the grain cart driver doesn't have to do much.
It's a great piece of equipment!! Starting out combining the driver needs to take more care. Having to go down the field for just 2 or 3 rows, as it shows on the video, is kinda costly. I also noticed a couple of time that he wasn't cutting on all the rows, I think to make the most of this machine you would have to be very exact harvesting so as to keep costs down.
That thing is incredible. I am sure to the larger scale farmer, would be worth every penny. I am surprised that the waste output technology has not gotten to a point where it's basically dumping a very find mulch, almost dust like, out the back. Some great drone footage here.
I think with the grain throughput on that harvester you'll also need to upscale your grain carts to keep up with it and then have a second semi trailer to empty those into. And that's where the decision kicks in - is it worth having bigger, more expensive equipment through the whole operation to harvest in less time, or is it not worth the higher cost. Bigger famrs might say yes, smaller farms might not think it worth it.
Another option instead of a 2nd grain cart & or Semi-trailer is an Australian idea of using a motherbin as an on field intermediate surge storage unit, paired up with an old 100hp+ pto tractor that a truck driver can use to load & go with.
With corn at $4.3 and break even at extremely near the same, I don’t see a whole lot of anything moving outa the show room this year. Matter a fact Big Green moved outa an Iowa. Good luck with the farm❤
That's 628,000 bushels of corn, not including tax, to pay for the machine. But the profit margin on a bushel of corn is small, so I suspect that it would actually take several times 628,000 bushels to pay for the machine.
It doesnt sit in the shed for 10 months of the year because you can also plant, spray and do tillage with it. Plus it can be used in fixed tramlines. The Wheels travel through the same path back and forth so you dont have compaction in the crops.
@@ford8630power Would it even fit in a shed? 😉 I was thinking more in terms of operating costs comparison. The price tag is very high. For that money you can buy a fleet of harvesters and seeders. Meaning when one breaks down you can still work, contrary to having only 1 giant combine.
@@ford8630power but if your combine breaks at the end of harvest you have 10 months to fix or replace it. Whose gonna repair/replace this in the short time before the next use? And if you have five different machines you can do five different things in five fields at the same time. (Realistically there are probably only two things one would do at the same time. For example spraying and harvesting). With this machine you can only ever do one thing on one field at one time.
I LOVE big machines! That said, the investment required for one of these beasts would likely only be cost effective for large commercial farms. Very impressive to watch the grain unloading. Mercy.
Please make some guide pins for your gear box installation. Get a couple of bolts, tapper the end, cut a flathead screw driver slot, or weld a nut small enough to fit with tapper. Make it a whole lot easier to install gear boxes, motors, transmission, and anything heavy. Make 2 bolts long in all sizes. It was one of the best things I did as an apprentice.
what's the return on investment? Is it comparable to a 'normal 'combine and other standard farming implements needed to go from planting to harvest? Perhaps this type of machine is made for large companies or people who harvest/plant for others? Just guessing. Looks kewl but perhaps a bit of nightmare to maintain??? Must be a lot of costly accoutrements needed to get full functionality out of it. Oh, and how does a large implement like this or even a 16 row head on good 'ol Green do on uneven/hilly farm land? Gullies? Highs on one end, lows on the other, uneven in between? When is too big, too big? Is there too big? I'm talking practicality, not the kewl factor. Thanks for sharing. So unique. Good quality on your vids. Looking forward to harvest season.
Have you looked at the shark wheels for the irrigation equipment ? They would have to be installed in pairs but if used to replace existing wheels as they fail, I believe that they would be profitable for your operation.
I am living near the little town in germany where this machine was invented and is build. It´s so amazing to see this massive thing in your video now!

It's so nice to see you so enthusiastic and passionate by your career and business! 🙂😊💛
neat machine and MAD PROPS to the drone pilot! that footage from above was awesome!
Wow, we never going to have a combine like this in Greece 🇬🇷…😅!! Amazing work 🌟
Saw this going down the road in your direction the other day. It is big!
interesting , Thank You . Glad to see that project again , could have many applications
While I love our Laura Close Up tours, Grant's scenic Drone views capture the awesome nature of these new fangled monsters! More Drone Shots Grant! ❤❤❤
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Beautiful harvest!
Hard to pick trends for harvest so many to choose from, thank you Laura farms , can’t wait for your harvest have a good day!
👍👍👍👍👍👍❤❤
Wow! This was like watching a Christmas Special about corn 😃
I think only BIG farms can afford this luxury. Very cool. Thanks for sharing!
That thing is incredible. I am sure to the larger scale farmer, would be worth every penny.
I am surprised that the waste output technology has not gotten to a point where it's basically dumping a very find mulch, almost dust like, out the back.
Some great drone footage here.
Awesome!! Thanks Laura!
Keep Smiling On!!
😅👍👊❤️
Once again, a joyful video. I am addicted to her videos and cannot wait for the next one.
As long as it doesn’t break down your good. Lots of hydraulics involved!
First time I've seen it unload on the go❤
I appreciate you and thank you for making content.
I'd love to hear what the competitive advantages are over at set of classic combines. I'm sure the number of rows isn't all there is to it.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Mercy.
really enjoyed this video!! it was a great way to start my morning off here on the east coast!
That is a pretty cool machine there. And I just wanted to say the Nebraska Corn Huskers is my favorite College Foot Ball Team.
monster machines suited to "big " farms, a really impressive piece of kit!
Magnifique vidéo et nexat et les matériel sont bien équipés et bien intéressante 😂😮😮😅😊
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Maybe it is because I am awestruck by you Laura, but once that machine is ready for sales I can't imagine a better representative than you.
Great video. Greetings from the netherlands ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂
An amazing machine. We shall see what the future holds.
That thing is a monster. I love it on how techy it is. Awesome video !! 🙂😀😁
Totally gorgeous lady amazing piece of equipment to make life easier for our farmers
Wife and I just got done watching the pricey combine, we were wondering if you got the spice for corn on the cob? Hope you like it and Enjoyed it.
Wow so cool but you know they will come out with bigger and better
What an absolutely daft machine!
You’re right to be sceptical.
Who do they think they are kidding that it will sell in decent numbers?
what's the return on investment?
You look amazing in that machine , you need one of them ❤️🙏
