It's odd.... 2 million dollar clean up in 1993, was totally unacceptable, but, now, a 2.5 BILLION dollar stadium in on the table, for a pro sports team, owned by a private individual. Did I say "interesting"? I meant something else.......
It took Arcade pizza that night. It wasn't the first fire someone had started, for 3 or 4 months someone was setting small fires. I was working @Arcade that night. He lost a lot that night.
Shit , I used to hang out in these buildings, party in them. There was a bunch of brand new still in plastic, furniture from the 40s and 50s. I mean 2-3 wallmarts full worth , There was factory equipment ect. Stuff from aircraft manufacturing during ww2. All kinds of stuff. I really don't think it was arson to cover up the chemicals ect. It was either crackheads who hung out on the first floor of the one building, or kids being stupid, or possibly to cover up body's rumored to have been disposed of in the basement where the coal used to be stored.
Crooked businessmen, crooked politics, greed . Thats what causes this stuff to happen. Cities need to stop building owners from just walking away from their responsibility. Dont think for a minute that someone wasnt getting payola to let those barrels of toxic waste be put there. Boyas did the same thing at the Garfield hts. landfill that became the beautiful City View Mall.
that was a warehouse with manufacturing auto repair prior to that it was a woolen mill the wood floors were oil soaked. until the city shut it down now it is the police athletic league
Grew up in Cleveland visited My grandparents often they lived on Morton Ave off 55 n Broadway knew kids from the area and from south hi soudaye as they say used to ride my bike from rockyriver road great times that was early 60s now 70years moved away when I went to Nam and never returned. What slum it's become
How old are you? It wasn’t called the ‘Broadway fire’. Reporting and documenting relies on accuracy. Everyone knew what was in their. Everyone knew people squatted there and that’s sadly how the fire started. Thanks for posting:)

Are you for or against the possible new Brook Park Stadium?

@@RETIREDAMATUERhe doesn’t know what he means, just talking shit
@@RETIREDAMATUER Like you know CONTROL, like you see in the movies. They control everything and stuff.

The corner of Broadway & Morton is nearly unrecognizable now. About a dozen houses on Morton have been torn down in the past 15 years.
That baby was cooking great job to all of the fire fighters
I remember that Fire on 4th July 😢so sad.

Everone knew what was in their what?
What streets exactly? What's there now?
Broadway and Blanche Ave. I have a property on Blanche Avenue. There is a Boys & Girls club there now.
what caused this
arson
Black people
Actually squatters.
Not only does the lake catch fire, but the industrial areas as well. Luckily Cleveland has cleamed up its image.
it was the river that caught fire in 1969, not the lake
@@ypaulbrown The 1969 river fire was not the first time that river (The Cuyahoga) had caught fire, not was it the only river to catch fire.
You're an idiot.
arson
Jewish LIGHTNING
best answer.......how do you start a flood ?
I was less than one year old and I do not remember any of this!
I was born almost exactly one year after this and I don't remember any of this!
too busy crapping your drawers, or sucking your thumb, i'd wager
Oh it's just another former urban development get over it and stop blaming everybody else these are your city fire codes
