    I wouldn’t hesitate picking up the S&W if I was on a tight budget.

      Back when Smith was running a rebate on the SD9ve my out the door price was $140. I proceeded to put a trigger spring kit in it and intentionally abused the hell out of it for months just to see how it would perform. Everything from dumping it in buckets of mud, water, and throwing it against trees, as well as kicking it around on a gravel road. Only when it was absolutely packed with dirt and mud did it fail to operate.
      Yes, the trigger had ten miles of creep and the stippling was pretty slick particularly when wet. I gave it to my son who needed a reliable handgun that didn’t cost a premium price. After my non scientific tests on the one I had I can say that I had as much confidence in the SD9VE to fire if I needed it to as my Gen4 19. It’s a simple and reliable tool to defend yourself.

      Got mine a month ago ive put about 450 rounds through it no issues and 50 of those rounds were hollows, i could get a g19 but with with gun out there i dont see a reason and the mags are nice, hopefully they drop a sd40 2.0

    I just picked up an SD9 2.0 yesterday. I haven't shot it yet but the fit and finish is amazing for the price!

    I'd take the S&W any day, better built and design. S&W is a different class: Browning type tilting barrel delayed blowback, double stack magazine, more features, reliable, and longevity. Feedback: would like to see more shooting footage in your videos. Good comparison review. 👍

    I love my SD9VE , it's been 100% functional and I'm keeping it .. damn thing ate almost every type of ammo except for the ARX ammo

      I have the VE with an Apex trigger since it came out. The double action isn't my cup of tea... But the price was right back in the day and I too can say, it has fired all the garbage ammo I've run through it. Can't really complain. And it is really smooth after being shot so much.

    I purchased a SD9VE a few years back when Smith was running a promotion on them. After rebate I paid roughly $145 for it. It’s failed to fire twice when I was intentionally packing it full of mud and sand. I dumped it in a 5 gallon bucket of water to wash it out and it went right back to working flawlessly. I know that I’ve put several thousand rounds through it and now my son owns it and shoots it regularly. They are simple, reliable, and affordable self defense tools and S&W stands behind them 100%.

    Gotta go with the Smith all day. The hi point does fill a niche though of someone who needs a way to defend themselves and can't afford much else ... even though usually 100 bucks will get you a much better firearm... but heck for a few hundred bucks that could be a couple weeks of groceries for a struggling family. But yeah if you can afford the hundred more for the Smith get the Smith if you ask me.

    I'm not on a budget and I own several firearms of various brands and price ranges and found myself carrying my SDVE with an apex trigger on it more then any in my collection. The SDVE which is the predecessor to this gun I gave to my nephew as a birthday gift and he loves it as well. I missed my SDVE so much I went and purchased this one and love it even more, and I love the trigger on it and the deeper serrations. The SD 2.0 is an awesome gun out of the box and even though its at a budget price its still right on up there in quality with all the more expensive guns on the market. The SD 2.0 is hands down just a great firearm that points well and is very balanced and reliable.

    My area the older SD9-SD9VE are $399 but the 2.0 is $299. Go figure. You would think the older ones should be lower. 😮

    I prefer the Ruger Security 9 but the SW SD9 2.0 is clearly a better firearm than the hi point YC9. The SD9VE were mechanically quality and reliable guns with a bad trigger and unpleasant arsthetics. From what I've heard the trigger has improved

      Hi points have thier market and are a cheap utilitarian tool for the slim chance of a home invasion. Too bulky to be an ECD or for me anyway

    In 2004🤔 or whenever Hurricane Rita was.... I was in Lake Charles, Louisiana trying to get stuff up and running again. Every time I had a tree across the road in front of me, I had a chainsaw and would cut and drag the tree to clear a hole for traffic. Well, in the swampy areas, every time I started cutting a tree with the chainsaw, a half dozen or better water moccasins would come slithering up the trunk towards me. I stopped in a pawn shop and bought a Hi-Point, it killed snakes🤷‍♂... I don't know what I did with that gun, but it was gone pretty quick, I am sure I traded it to someone... Easily the worst gun I ever owned.🤦‍♂

      BS. Dozens implies at least 24 people. It's very rare to encounter more than one situation. Even rarer to encounter 24 and each person own the same gun.

    Love my SD-9 2.0. That H-Point is just plain ugly and awkward looking

  • @kenhoward3512
    @kenhoward3512 8 місяців тому +1

    The trendy option (for this price category, at least) of adding an optic does not compensate for the excessive width and weight, the relatively poor trigger and questionable reliability of the Hi-Point. Also, why does Hi-Point continue to make such strange-looking (i.e., ugly) pistols? I find it difficult to imagine someone deliberately designing a pistol to look like that - not to mention, the width and weight.
