Part 2 of my trip across Turkey in 2013. We followed a route along the coast as far as a town called Trabzon. We had intended to ride on into Georgia but plans changed and while Sam applied for an Iranian visa, Felix and I bussed all the way back across the country to catch a flight to Kyrgyzstan!

Nice video. I've heard that dogs can be a problem in Turkey. Did you have and problems with dogs while riding or camping?

Hi there. I was clicking around UA-cam, trying to learn more about biking the Black Sea coast, and came across this video. Since I've biked from Sweden to Turkey, and later, from Turkey to Egypt, I will respond to your question about Turkish dogs: they are a problem. Some people say to stop riding and walk, and they will get bored, but I'm always trying to get somewhere, so I've never tired boring them to death. I have scared them off with squirts of the water bottle, and I have broken their interest by stopping and tossing rocks at them (a pack of seven, one time). I also almost died east of Konya racing to escape a vicious dog on my heels, and almost swerving into the oncoming lane. Maybe I did swerve into the oncoming lane; all I know is that there was a dog's mouth 18 inches from my left calf, and the dog got taken out by an oncoming car! Years later I mentioned this incident to another adventure traveler, and his thought was that the oncoming driver intentionally took out the dog. Wow...Can't believe I'm getting into the mood to go back and ride Turkey again... My journal's at www.bicycle-touring.com)

@@Bill-in-SF thanks for the info. I've bought an ultrasonic dog repeller. Maybe it will help
