Yes, it was done by a local shop my friend works at... Metal Crafters. The powder coating is made by Cardinal and I'll see if I can get there product # for you. It is a textured finish.
There is a clear power gain in the new engine although I'd say it feels like it is "wound tight" to me. This is mostly only noticeable when the engine is cold. I'd guess it is possible because they are trying to squeeze all the horses out of it they can. I do like the new 3.6L more than the old 3.8L.
A lot of JK's run 35's once lifted. I'm running 37's but without the front Dana 44 to handle the extra stress I'd stick with the 35's. Just my opinion.
It is a clean look w/out anything on the rear but there are very few places to keep a spare tire. I have seen spares stored in the rear cargo area but I need the space for gear and friends. I'd hate to be without a spare tire and/or friends when I need them.
This was a nice video. However you failed to install the CAM nut on the passenger upper hinge. I have this carrier but it had no instructions so I watched a bunch of videos. Thankfully I found a video that explains this. Even the downloaded instructions don't clearly explain this. The DV8 video does not install it either. The CAM nut is used ti align the carrier to close. You will notice one of the passenger hinge mounts has a small metal plate. This is for the CAM nut to push the bolt out to raise or lower the driver side. Anyway its a great mount and I'm looking at mine and it looks good!!!
Hey Newere, how far would you say the top and bottom bars that wrap around the spare tire extend out from the tailgate itself? Just curious since I've got a cargo hitch tray that i'll attach sometimes and am worried it would interfere and compromise any stacked cargo. Thanks! Looks good!
I'd say no. The stock tire carrier can only hold 50 lbs max and has limited space between the tire and the stock bumper. Most after market carriers are better designed for the size and added weight. You can try it but it may damage your tailgate.
Hello from Quebec, Canada. I would like to know if after two years of usage, you are still satisfied with the tier carrier. I presently have 37 and would like to go towards 40. I do alot of hard trail. Waiting for your advise!
I didnt like how it sounded when he closed it. Couldnt have thought of a smoother way to secure it to the hinges? Why didnt they use a thrust bearing or something?
Not exactly true. The stock JK Rubicon tire weighs 48lbs by itself. Add in the weight of the wheel and it's gotta be near 75lbs or so. I've seen plenty of people run 35's on stock carriers. It's not the best setup, but it can be done.
Not sure, Call GenRight and ask for Kieth. He'll get you any info you need. I was able to fit a motorcycle on my hitch rack without a problem. 8o5-584-B635
+Ghost White The cage is aluminum but yeah thats not a light tire. As far as where it mounts to the body it does reach an inner structure its not just on sheet metal. Seemed to hold up well.
This carrier is very quiet off road and has been attached very solidly to the Jeep through some though trails and bumps. You may really like this one.
I stumbled across this video. I knew there had to be something out there with what I wanted. Almost gave up hope.....
TNX for the install demo..

Thanx 4 the vid.. Genright made one and it was confusing... Yours was very easy 2 understand. My new tire carrier looks great... Thx again!
great video dude. absolutely aweosme. I'm so torn between this carrier and poison Spyder.

I believe they do.
No, I'd suggest powder coating all bare metal parts. Although GenRight does sell Aluminum tire carriers and fenders that will now have rusting issues.

First. Love the show. That's a fine looking Jeep too!! I wish my JK stayed that clean!!
A pad lock can be placed on it to stop the wheel from being removed.
Glad you liked it!
NEWEREJK what was the tire size on this jeep?
Looks really cool. But what about the middle braking light?
Middle brake lights are for pussies.
Not sure for the reasoning in using this type of hinge. One thing is that it never rattled on the trail.
4" TeraFlex lift with 37" tires.
Friends excellent video greetings from Venezuela
Do the instructions tell you which parts need to be painted/powdercoated? I'm a little worried about leaving something out and having it rust

I'm taking it you had that powder coated correct? The color looks dead on to the fenders and bumper so what is it? Thanks
can a 35" tire fit on the stock spare carrier with no problems?
Hey i've gotta ask, how does the new pentastar v6 compare to the old 3.8 v6?

+Eric Daout I have found that i like carriers that open on one motion along with the tailgate and might suggest looking into those.
What keeps this from getting stolen? if anything?
what size lift and tires do you have?
Will these work with Smittybilt XRC armor fenders?!?!
this is way better than the GenRight Video
Should of added some paint to the wholes drilled. That's why the comment was added about how the body was doing.
+Evan Reid Hope I did. Maybe I missed editing it into the video. Thanks for the heads up.
Anyone got any ideas for a zj?
Spare takes up too much room to put in the trunk, and its a pain in the ass to use a roof carrier.
I installed a garage around mine.
:)
SuperDufus lolllllll
Yeah, I agree! That jerk just stood there.
I didnt like how it sounded when he closed it. Couldnt have thought of a smoother way to secure it to the hinges? Why didnt they use a thrust bearing or something?
hows the body holding up?
Good while I had it. I sold the Jeep but I haven't heard of any body issues.

Nice.
Even with my heavy foot I get 13.7 average.
LOL, Thanks!!!
You should have helped yourself out there at the end that tire looked heavy! haha
no light on the LP thats a problem
nice background music
License plate is not illuminated. That's going to be a problem
+Richard Burns Yes, there is a light kit that lights it and adds a new third brake light.
+NEWEREJK how come I didn't see you install it?...lies, all lies. Is your last name Clinton?
+NEWEREJK a kit for a kit...wow, you sure know how to bend over your customers...without any lube
Where can you get the kit?
Чётко, молодцы!!!!!!
Who was that girl with the pink bag, and what does she want?
Not sure, Call GenRight and ask for Kieth. He'll get you any info you need. I was able to fit a motorcycle on my hitch rack without a problem. 8o5-584-B635
