- This is an updated tutorial for how to terraform planets in Universe Sandbox 2
This will show you how to make a habitable planet as well as some other basic functions. This is how you get life in Universe sandbox. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will try my best to answer them.

Thanks for the tutorial, really helped me understanding those weird atmospheric tabs. So I have a question: How can you terraform moons if they're outside of the habitable zone? There's this premade map where a habitable moon orbits a gas giant due to tidal waves, you just play around with magnetospheres and atmospheres until it's done? :O

How I accidentally made a habitable planet: failed to make the moon not crash into Mars. Result: Planet becomes habitable due to temperature rising.

I dont like how the planet is so dark but other than that I love it!
About five seconds after I increase the water level, two strange textures form at the poles and move downwards until they converge at the equator, leaving the planet darker in coloration and completely without water, even though I am well below the boiling point and have a sea level of several kilometers (usually about 70% the value of the elevation span). Do you know of any way to work around this?

It's because you're ocean Mass has been changed to not a number 💀💀💀 p buy the game and you can't even change it if you press randomize planet

some discovered exoplanets are in the game. I will make a video showcasing them and creating more not in the game already

I think you can make a habitable planet on any star with the planet being placed in the habitable zone depending on where it is, cause didn’t you make a habitable planet around Stephenson 2-18?

Great tutorial. However I followed your steps and the planet is either way too cold or way too hot. Also the "Average Alebedo" is always in negatives. Idk how you got positive numbers.

Friend, please help! When the sea level rises and water is added to the planet, an incomprehensible ice cap appears at the poles, which evaporates water and makes the planet darker. How to fix this?
I don't know if it's icy or not, but it dries up all the water on the planet.
I have the exact same problem and it’s driving me mad! Nothing online has helped me in the slightest at fixing this bug
@@bearsofintelligence3491 I agree, there is nothing on the Internet. Such a problem does not arise if you place a planet in the solar system, this is the only way out that I found ..
I also noticed that - it’s really strange how that’s the only way to workaround this issue. Unfortunately, even if I make a save of the solar system plus my additional planet, the next time I load it up the planet will have the same problem and “lose” its water. Awful

Yeah you can go in to tools at the bottom and select planetscaping and draw your own landmasses

I have an issue where the temperature drops whenever I try to add an atmosphere on my planet. Any solutions?
Change the Infrared Emissivity to a higher number, it's at the atmosphere tab. :)

ctrl z will undo what you just did
Alternatively, you can select your object and hit ctrl s to save it, then place it in the system again and it won’t have rings.

Doesn't work. Even when at the end of the habitable zone, it keeps evaporating away the water when I rise the sea level.

Your restrictions on the characteristics of a habitable planet is too unrealistic. They could be from 0.1 to 2 earth masses, the rotation could be from 12 hours to 100 days (Or even tidally locked), the star can be from G0V to K2V, the tilt cannot be too little, or you will get ice ages (ice ages on earth occur when the earth's tilt is at its minimum, or about 22.5 degrees), or too much, as the temperatures would vary too much and too often for life to survive and adapt. The average temperature and the maximum temperature must be between the freezing point and the boiling point of water, so water will be liquid (note that I did not mention the minimum temperature, as on earth that's the only part of its temperature range that is outside the liquid range of water at standard pressure (1 bar or one atm). Also moons can be very close and not cause issues. If you put one at 100000 km, assuming its of similar mass to earth, and the moon and planet would tidally lock to each other, and since the moon is so close, the orbital period of the moon, and hence the day cycle of both objects, would be less than 10 days.
The moon being so close would not cause huge tides because they are tidally locked to eachother, so local sea levels would not rise and fall constantly.
