It's easy to re correct asteroids orbital trajectory, but skipping that part for a video is easier. The magnetic field would change if it has an atmosphere as the planet would be able to retain heat and cold in areas giving the planet somewhat of a field of protection. From radiation and temperature.
From what I know, earth's magnetic field comes from it's metallic core. Atmosphere doesn't play any substantial role in that. I guess it would if the atmosphere contained considerable amounts of ferrous metals in it, but then they would probably form themselves into a core anyway, because they're usually the heaviest elements.
atmosphere doesnt affect magnetic field but magnetic field affects atmosphere. in order to increase magnetic field you have to heat the core. mars has a relatively small core therefore it cooled early on and the magnetic sphere shrank and suffered because of it and therefore mars lost its water since it's magnetic sphere could no longer protect the planet from the suns particles. and the atmosphere was consequently destroyed. to terraform mars you would have to jump start it's core and produce alot of greenhouse gases. not CO2 but heavier gases such as methane.

earth gained it water from asteroids, you cannot get enough energy to move a moon or a planetoid. You are better off with lots of small asteroids than a large one.

7:24 i got a ziploc ad
I would had a moon-sized object big enough to accelerate Mars rotation and reactivate its core with enough water to hit it.
That’s what i call “Terra Formars”
Man of culture will UNDERSTANUDOOOOOOO!!!!
MOLTEN COOOOOORRRE!!!
i smell an Overwatch player xd
Yeah that's disgusting your face
Taylor Barbieri vorking as intended!
I smell a banned overwatch account
The only reason i watched the video was to see how he added a magnetic field.
SUPERMAN EXISTS
General Zod : Fine I'll terraform Mars then.
Mars with a magnetic field looks like an avocado made of aerogel.
I agree
To realistically terraform Mars, throwing a large moon at the planet will not work. Instead, the best solution is to make a large moon it's satellite, which would allow the planet's core to generate a strong magnetic field that is the essential building block towards making Mars habitable for life as we know it. The reason for Mars current condition is because its original moon Ares(the size of Pluto) crashed into it, thus shutting down the planet's magnetic field. The reason for why like on Earth exist is become of the Lunar moon as its satellite. Otherwise, Earth would look like Mars. The planet Mars is really Earth without its large moon.. If Jupiter's Io can be brought to Mars as its satellite, the Martian planet can be terraformed in under 100 years instead of 100,000 years..
It does doesn't it?
Really cool video, enjoyed it alot! :)
"im not going to use any god power"
me: but how you spawn an asteroid?
give magnetosfer?
If human wanted to terraform a planet, im pretty sure they would push some asteroid to crash into that planet
_Magnetosfer_
In universe sandbox 2 mars ALWAYS tends to be inhabitable but wow you did make it habitable!

I just look at that ok then
I have found the channel that loves space

I love you're Videos!
well you can use venues for atmosphere and mass! but I don't know how you can change venues' orbit... North Korea? can we borrow 1000 of your nukes? no? ok...
Universe D well us has 6970 nukes... Why ask north korea?
WOW... ok... I now do not know why we haven't started to terra form mars? (I know nukes do next to nothing with orbits {but nuking mars' poles is something that may work})
No, that would be terrible, and very temporary. The fallout from the nukes required to melt the ice would make the water radioactive and render the planet more uninhabitable.
Universe D more like everybody fire the nukes
Universe D North Korea has like 12
Mars looks pretty beautiful.
We are not going to use any God powers, using only things that we can realistically do - let's start by hurling asteroids ... LMAO

I want this game. Is it possible to make a completely new planet from scratch and a whole new solar system? I want to do that for my fantasy novel.
Yes, you can do anything.

So realistic "We're just gonna slam make make into Mars" OK thx bro.
mars would not survive an impact that big. and water would not just appear on it, it would all be evaporated to hell.
stektirade water would not appear on it yes but are you sure water would all evaporate to hell
@@scouttf2143 yes because when you have little to no atmospheric pressure water evaporates. you would know this if you knew your sciences.
Cool video

You said you weren't going to use god powers, but you did.
Whether or not he did it in a physically possible way, it’s still very interesting and slightly educational if I have to say
I've been here since 11 subs
so you started doing a video without testing out what you were gonna post first? someone give this guy a medal.
Pluto is supposedly mostly ices in reality, but in the game it's all silica lol.
I hope like hell that this game doesn't cost money. THIS GAME IS MY DREAM this video was epic 👍
It does cost money, it is pretty expensive. It costs $25 if you live in the US, and roughly £20 if you live in the UK.
If you don't feel like paying for it at the moment there is another "game" that is free called Space Engine, which is a different experience.
Like Universe Sandbox except it gives you the entire universe to explore and experiment with. Not the same type of game as Sandbox mind you, but for the time being, it should be fine.
Dark Seath yep I found it out before you said that. It's £13 on steam
Hello fellow viewers! I've noticed a massive increase in traffic, which is great - but this video is old, and frankly, outdated for this channel! If you're interested in actually colonizing mars, I have a new series over at ua-cam.com/video/hO4tDk5pzq4/v-deo.html on the game Surviving Mars, which is an actual mars colony simulator. Or, look at a remake of this video focused more on scientific accuracy: ua-cam.com/video/EjewCCAB7iw/v-deo.html . Hope to see you there!

Surviving Mars from Paradox?
That's the game that came into my mind while eatching your video!

Also, throwing a metal ball at Mars wouldn't fix both magnetic Field problem and mass problem?
earth gained it water from asteroids, you cannot get enough energy to move a moon or a planetoid. You are better off with lots of small asteroids than a large one.
Besides Shooting an asteroid larger than 10km will make the planet burn off most of the atmosphere and at the same time you have no iron core, so no magnetic blanket to keep the atmosphere. in other words... there is zero ways to do it with this program.
