Still the Benchmark Racing Film The Porsche 917k still looks ahead of its time today. The noise of that flat 12. The Ferrari 512S was also an incredible beast. Magnificent Film

Pedro Rodriguez should have been a WDC. If BRM had its' sh@t together in reliability in 1970 or 1971, I have little doubt the results would have complimented his talent.

As imagens são da corrida de 1970. A corrida de 1970 foi a única a ter a partida com os carros estacionados em espinha com os pilotos já nos postos de pilotagem. Até 1969 a partida era dada com os carros na mesma posição mas os pilotos partiam do outro lado da pista e corriam para o carro à ordem de partida. A partir de 1971 a partida passou a ser lançada, tal como é usada até hoje.
Depois, há outros pormenores. Há a data inscrita na bandeira francesa (13 &, 14 Juin 1970) (embora as imagens do momento seja recriadas, já que a partida foi dada por Ferdinand Porsche, quando no filme é óbvio que não é ele 1:17) A pole do #25, também do Team Salzburg, mas com o Porsche em versão 917L, foi em 1970, são visíveis outros Porsche 917L, em 1971 não havia qualquer carro nessa versão, havia vários 917K e 917LH. Em 1971 não havia sequer qualquer carro com o número 25.
Outra explicação para não se ver o Porsche vencedor é que não era propriamente o Porsche mais rápido, com o motor 4.5L em vez dos mais rápidos, que usavam motores 4.9L, que foi subindo na classificação à medida que os mais potentes 4.9L e os Ferrari foram tendo problemas. O filme mostra normalmente imsgens dos 8-10 primeiros, e o #23 largou de 15º. Outra evidência é a presença do Porsche Martini "psicadélico", que ocorreu também em 1970.
O Comendador Enzo Ferrari quando leu a sinopse do filme e ficou sabendo que o vencedor seria um Porsche não permitiu o empréstimo ou qualquer alusão da Ferrari no filme!!
