Still the Benchmark Racing Film The Porsche 917k still looks ahead of its time today. The noise of that flat 12. The Ferrari 512S was also an incredible beast. Magnificent Film

I remember watching this race as a kid back in the 60's, when the drivers lined up on the track across from their respective cars, and at the start ran across the track and got into their cars!!!

I'll never stop loving these Gran Touring Sports Prototypes of my day. Elegant, beautiful and fast. Not like the angular thingy cars of today.

I saw this on our first came out in the drive-in theater... I was 9 years old and my brother-in-law was going crazy the first time they were starting... He loved the 917 Porsche... It's an awesome movie I love the Ferrari 512s.. ever since I saw this movie for the first time..

I never knew much about racing itself, but the cars then sure looked COOL! I would rather see this than nascar where they just go in a circle the whole race. I much prefer this.

Nothing has ever, or will ever, portray the atmosphere and tension of motor racing as perfectly as these few minutes of film. It is not possible to do so.

Tive a honra de visitar esse autódromo em setembro de 2018. o centro histórico de Le Mans é muuuuiiito bonito. Com restaurantes muito elegantes. Logo na entrada do museu no lado esquerdo existe um cartaz do filme e uma foto de Steve McQueen. Como todo turista fiz uma selfie. Afinal esperei 48 anos para tirar uma foto com um dos meus ídolos.
