Sanremo is NOT a selection contest for Eurovision, It is a pop festival with 72 years of history. Nobody partecipate to Sanremo for to go to the Eurovision contest, even if in the last few years Sanremo winner gets the right to represent Italy at Eurocontest. In the past happened that several Sanremo winners gave up to go to Eurovision contest. Sanremo is by far more prestigeous than Eurovision, even if Eurovision contest is watched worldwide.
