Sanremo exists since 1951 and is the festival of Italian songs. The Eurovision was born as an European version of it. Pepeole compete in Sanremo not to go to Eurovision but to win Sanremo itself. The winners get offered to participate to Eurovision and they can accept or decline. Eurovision has become popular in Italy just in the last 2 years. Before the winning of maneskin many Italians didn't know about Eurovision. The focus was Sanremo. Maybe now things will change.

@@valval6468 The situation changed more than two years ago, at least for younger generations. Older ones are catching up slower and are discovering Eurovision. All in all, it's a good progression.

I agree. Abroad they are wrong twice, the first because they think that Sanremo is made for Eurovision (absurd) and the second because they think it is the maximum expression of Italian music (absurd in turn)

Saw your video reaction right now. I've been listening to this song for one month and I still can't get enough. I know Mahmood music pretty well since 2019, love the way he DRAWS and PAINTS each and evry single word he writes. Loved "how close to cry you were", that's kind of statement of how much power good song may spread through music and lyrics, although the listener doesn't speak that language. You just got it 👍👍👍

From last Sanremo Festival you should listen to:
La rappresentante di lista - Ciao Ciao
Elisa - O forse sei tu
Michele Bravi - L'inverno dei fiori
Noemi - Ti amo non lo so dire
    Ditonellapiaga e Rettore - Chimica
    Irama - Ovunque Sarai
In this order in my opinion

I don’t like that much ESC because all countries ( almost) brings songs with English lirics. Each country should sing with their own language. Google the translation will be immediately coughs the meaning, like you did. That should be a REAL ESC.

    • @norma8686
      @norma8686 2 роки тому

It used to be a rule of Eurovision that you could only sing in your own language. But that put a lot of countries at a disadvantage. If you look at the winners in the years that there was that rule it's all either english of french speaking countries. So they changed the rule so you could sing in any european language.

You’re so good! 🤩🤗 about the staging: I’m Italian and in sanremo tradition the songs are performed with no staging (unlike Eurovision where the staging is an important part of the performance). So every year the winner of sanremo have to think at the staging only for Eurovision.

Thank yiy for your reaction Bart. I can tell you that in Italy there's been more or less the same reaction that's been in the Esc community about this song, the majority likes it while a minority strongly dislike it. It's a song that you love or hate. Some people, and I mean no offense saying this, are not comfortable with their deepest feelings and they don't let to be touched by a love song, I've been watching many reactions and some people's attention is allover the place, those are the ones who claim the song is an overrated drag, however many others like it, they identify with part or all of the story and find it very real and the emotions portrayed raw and sincere. I of course am in the latter group, I love this song, the harmony of their voices literally gives me goosebumps then the lyrics are my death blow. I am sorry that the English translation loses most of the poetry of the original in Italian, the choice of words in its simplicity... As usual on Esc site all mv will be posted and also a translation of the songs that are not in English so by May everyone who is interested will know the meaning of the song, there won't be need to stage any kind of narration because in my opinion two people with their hearts on their sleeves discussing their love and troubles don't need "subtitles" they're already "naked in shivers" as the songs sings and they need nothing else. Salvador Sobral when declared the winner said "music is not loud screams and fireworks, music is emotion", and I agree.
I don't think we will win, it's ok, we won last year and it's ok that other countries have their turn, what matters is to bring a good song, a brave song, and I'm confident this one cheks all the boxes.

Oh yes, a lot of wise and important words from your side. Thank you for sharing all that! I especially agree with the statement that even with no "subtitles" the song is going to be touching because of what you brought up: "music is not loud screams and fireworks, music is emotion".

Thanks for your "beautiful" reaction. You are right: the issue will be transforming the emotional the song is in something visual (shortcuts of their faces, graphic effects, the diamond bike) in order for the tv audience to catch the storytelling

This song is brave, I draw my conclusions from what is told in the video, it is the story of two similar people with the same intense way of loving but also the same problems in love, only that one is gay and the other is not , but they understand each other perfectly why they live the same things, I think that's not all, there are more things that I don't understand the meaning of, the two of them flying together by bike for example. I must say that the song irritates a lot to many, especially to some homophobes and racists disguised as conservatives who even go so far as to affirm that Mahmood (born in Milan, of an Italian mother and an Egyptian father) is Egyptian and not Italian (therefore not suitable for representing the 'Italy, when instead it was voted for by many Italians) and that he pretends to be gay to sell ... here's to me this thing always makes you laugh because if a person is not gay (and would not want to expose himself) he could attract the 100% of the public available, homophobic or not, so it would sell more, especially if the person in question is beautiful and has a voice like Mahmood's and writes like Mahmood. All this to recommend that you pay attention to the explanations of the song or artists that they give you around on the web because it is full of crafty haters. I prefer to wait for the interviews with Mahmood and Blanco to capture something more about the song.

    • @bvrt3069
      @bvrt3069  2 роки тому +7

Thank you for that comment! It tears me to pieces to hear about all the hate! I love Mahmood's songwriting - his songs capture the essence of everyday life in a BEAUTIFUL way making it seem extraordinary. His lyrics are very relatable and the production of his songs is incomparable and I think this is what people should focus more about and not his origin or sexuality.

They faced an important theme, love without barriers, love without prejudice, love that knows no gender, with great sensitivity. It is a theme that can be addressed in many ways, but they have chosen a difficult one. Facing the love of two different generations, and joining in a single love story💘 'Google translation' (Mahmood 29 years Blanco 18/19 years)

    Brividi (Shivers)
Ho sognato di volare con te
I dreamed of flying with you
    Su una bici di diamanti
    On a diamond bike
Mi hai detto: “Sei cambiato, non vedo
You told me, “You’ve changed, I can’t see
Più la luce nei tuoi occhi”
The light in your eyes anymore”
    La tua paura cos’è?
What is it that you fear?
Un mare dove non tocchi mai
The deep end of a sea you never reach
Anche se il sesso non è
    Even if sex is not
La via di fuga dal fondo
The way out of the bottom
    Dai, non scappare da qui
Come on, don’t run away from here
    Non lasciarmi così
    Don’t leave me like this
    Refrain
    Nudo con i brividi
    Naked, shivering
    A volte non so esprimermi
Sometimes I don’t know how to express myself
E ti vorrei amare, ma sbaglio sempre
And I’d like to love you but I always mess up
And I’d like to steal a pearl sky for you
    E pagherei per andar via
And I would pay to go away
    Accetterei anche una bugia
I would even accept a lie
E ti vorrei amare ma sbaglio sempre
And I’d like to love you but I always mess up
E mi vengono i brividi, brividi, brividi
And I get the shivers, shivers, shivers
Tu, che mi svegli il mattino
You, who wake me up in the morning
Tu, che sporchi il letto di vino
You, who get the bed dirty with wine
Tu, che mi mordi la pelle
    You, who bite my skin
Con i tuoi occhi da vipera
    With your viper’s eyes
And you, you’re the opposite of an angel
E tu, sei come un pugile all’angolo
And you, you’re like a boxer in their corner
And you run away from here, leaving me like this
    Nudo con i brividi
    Naked, shivering
    A volte non so esprimermi
Sometimes I don’t know how to express myself
E ti vorrei amare, ma sbaglio sempre
And I’d like to love you but I always mess up
And I’d like to steal a pearl sky for you
    E pagherei per andar via
And I would pay to go away
    Accetterei anche una bugia
I would even accept a lie
E ti vorrei amare ma sbaglio sempre
And I’d like to love you but I always mess up
E mi vengono i brividi, brividi, brividi
And I get the shivers, shivers, shivers
    Dimmi che non ho ragione
    Tell me I’m not right
    E vivo dentro una prigione
And I live inside a prison
    E provo a restarti vicino
And I try to stay close to you
But I’m sorry if I screw up and
I can’t tell you what I feel, that’s my limit
I mixed drugs with tears for an “I love you”
Questo veleno che ci sputiamo ogni giorno
This venom that we spit at each other every day
Io non lo voglio più addosso
I don’t want it on me anymore
    Lo vedi, sono qui
    You see it, I’m here
On a diamond bike, one among many
    Nudo con i brividi
    Naked, shivering
    A volte non so esprimermi
Sometimes I don’t know how to express myself
E ti vorrei amare, ma sbaglio sempre

I am a big time fan of the Italian ballads, and music in general from Italy, but I'm not that connected with this one, I like it but it's not that strong to me, I love the instrumentation but not that much the high notes and the "P" sounds it's kind of annoying to me. It's a top15 for me. Don't kill me, it's just an opinion, a random and personal one.

There was a sunbtitles option under the video :-) Anyway the song is about the representation of two solitudes. An old gay man (mahmood) and a hetero man (Blanco is heterosexual) incapable to express their feelings to the loved one, losing everything. Somehow a message of equality where differences are way more nuanced. If you think about it it is one of the first songs to tear down the virtual wall that separates the sentimental lives of gays and heterosexual men ^^

    English Translation: Shivers
I dreamed about flying with you
    On a diamond bike
    You told me: "You've changed
I don't see the light in your eyes anymore"
What's your fear? A sea you cannot ever touch the bottom of
Even if sex isn't the way out from the seabed, come on
    Don't run away from here
    Don't leave me like this
    [Chorus: Mahmood & BLANCO, BLANCO,Mahmood]
    Naked and shivering
    Sometimes I cannot express myself
And I wish I could love you, but I always mess up
And I wish I could steal you a sky of pearls
    I'd pay to go away
    I'd even accept a lie
And I wish I could love you, but I always mess up
And I get shivers, shivers, shivers
    [Verse 2: BLANCO]
You, who wakes me up in the morning
You, that stains the bed with wine
    You, who bites my skin
    With your viper's eyes
And you who are the opposite of an angel
And you who's like a boxer in the corner
And you run away from here
    You leave me here
    [Chorus: Mahmood & BLANCO, BLANCO,Mahmood]
    Naked and shivering
    Sometimes I cannot express myself
And I wish I could love you, but I always mess up
And I wish I could steal you a sky of pearls
    I'd pay to go away
    I'd even accept a lie
And I wish I could love you, but I always mess up
And I get shivers, shivers, shivers
    [Bridge: BLANCO & Mahmood]
Tell me I'm not right, eh
I live inside a prison, eh
I try to stay close to you
But forgive me if in the end I fuck up everything, eh
I cannot tell you what I feel, it's a limit of mine
For an "I love you" I mixed drugs and tears
    This venom
That we spit on each other every day I don't want it on me anymore
    You can see, I'm here
On a bike made of diamonds, one amongst many
    [Chorus: Mahmood & BLANCO, BLANCO,Mahmood]
    Naked and shivering
    Sometimes I cannot express myself
And I wish I could love you, but I always mess up
And I wish I could steal you a sky of pearls
    I'd pay to go away
