NEW Ford Mustang--WHAT A CAR!

  • The 2018 Ford Mustang is more than a mid-cycle refresh. This new Ford Mustang gets a new front end, including bumper, spoiler, grille, LED headlamps, lower hood and fenders. the back gets new tail lamps and rear bumper. The Mustang is no longer sold with a V6 engine, the 2.3L EcoBoost is now the base engine and the 5.0L V8 is still in the GT trim but now with 460hp, on regular gas. The bigger changes happen under the car with the old performance package becoming the new standard suspension and the addition of the Magnaride, magnetic ride control being offered on the EcoBoost and GT models. There is a new 10-speed automatic that delivers mixed results, rather good at getting the power to the rear wheels quickly but this transmission doe not feel precise. The interior can now be equipped with a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and soft-touch centre console but only on the top trim. The addition of Magnaride and a more powerful V8 makes this car a dream to drive.

    Put the damn transmission in track mode and give it some gas. You're literally the only person I've heard complain about the 10 speed transmission. There's no delay when the pedal is down

    We just got a 2018 ecoboost 10 speed auto. We noticed the shifting when we first got it but after driving it for a while we noticed the sifting is getting better and doesn't seem to hunt for the right gear. After looking into it the transmission learns. It learns how you drive and applies that to the car, specifically the transmission. Overall the 10 speed is more responsive and just faster than the stick at least in the ecoboost and if your like us and in traffic to and from work, its a little more enjoyable than with a clutch car. If we were going to get a 5.0 there's a reason you buy one and that's the power which of course needs the clutch to get the most fun out of it. The ecoboost is a great car in its own right and a great car for someone who has never driven 400+ hp cars before and its a great sports car to learn on.

    Thanks for this honest review especially regarding the 10-speed auto! This is actually the first review that I saw which is critical of the automatic transmission. All other UA-cam channels are hyping it without mentioning any flaws..

      Could they all just be right and this guy is wrong ??
      OR....is everyone wrong and just this guy is right ??
      That is the question to ask yourself.

    • @DiE4AuDi
      @DiE4AuDi 6 років тому

      Strick nine / it's not about who is wrong or who is right, it's about making an objective review without praising every bolt of a car. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE this Mustang but for most UA-camrs everything is just "great" and "the best". The guy from motormouth seems like someone who has driven quite a few cars already and knows how a proper transmission has to behave and by sharing his unbiased opinion on UA-cam he is doing as a favor.

    • @stricknine8623
      @stricknine8623 6 років тому

      DiE4AuDi
      The other numerous positive reviews about the transmission could all have come from honest and "objective ready" minds.....Of course it most certainly IS about who has the most accurate (right) assesment about it...
      Praising every nut and bolt ?
      I was speaking of a certain and specific component,...The Transmission,..just as you were..And many people, while having great reviews about the car in general, cited the transmission as particularly good.

    Thanks for another enthusiastic review on the refreshed Mustang Zack! Clearly you love the car as much as I do my 15 performance pack 6M GT. I’m disappointed to hear the 10 speed isn’t a knock out for the car because it sure does make it fast. Touching on pricing for a moment, I’d agree that the car loaded up is quite up there in price now that it crests 60k but boy does become an amazing deal on the used market. Definitely worth buying CPO like I did. It’s a shame the best features including the softer materials are all optional. The base car feels vastly less premium than a loaded GT.
    Great to see you having fun in the canyons 👍

    Did the price of the US model go up for 2018 model. Here in Australia where it is also quite popular they have jacked it up by $4,000. It was already about $64,000 for the V8 GT here so is nudging $70,000 which I think is a fair bit higher than the US cars.

      F S yeah but keep in mind that 2013 is already 5 years old within the next month. Not to mention the poor building materials ford used when making the S197 models. After 2015, the new gen S550 mustang was completely reworked and finally brought up to date with modern technology unlike the dinosaur that was the 2013. New mustangs of this gen will be holding their value much better than previous models.
