Jeff needs to be knighted. His name should be up there with all the great poets of this world. He is a musical genius, no doubt at all. I thank the heavens above that l got to be here at the same time as Jeff and ELO. A witness to this beautiful, humble, non assuming man's greatness. I don't believe there is anyone better. The mastery is amazing! There is something very spiritual and beautiful about this man. Imagine having the privilege of saying, that's my Dad, my Son, my Husband, my Brother etc. Instead l have the privilege of saying that's my Hero. My Idol, my Mentor and that's good enough for me❣ God bless you Jeff and thank you 😘

I stand to be corrected but l haven't heard him referred to as Sir Jeff Lynne. But you know what, the Brits have a complicated system of CBE's, OBE's, MBE's and BEM'S, whereas in Australia we just stick to our ABC's and award Jeff Lynne the very prestigious title of bloody awesome❣🦘😉

As much as I enjoy the original studio version and am not normally a fan of live versions, I got to say this particular live version rocks. I like the lower key & slightly slower tempo. But the visuals on stage are really amazing.

Jeff is one of the only geezers on tour who hasn't lost his voice unlike Paul, Mick and Elton. This could have been 40 years ago. ELO live is as great as any studio album. Hope they go on tour again after Covid-19, love to see them. And yes, killer bass line,

Don't forget Russell Mael of Sparks ! He is 74 and his voice is as good as it was in 1974 .
No lowering of tone and still gets up to those high notes . Must have singing lessons to keep his voice in tip top condition ? Having never been a smoker would also help .

Incredible how fast the time flew by...nothing wrong with this version especially with the musicianship but most of us fans remember when Jeff's vocals were spot on with the studio version but nevertheless still a job well done and RIP always to keyboardist Richard Tandy.

Oh......I have forgotten this beautiful song for long time.
But I happened to find this today.
While serving my country by way of the United States Navy as an Aerographer (weatherman) in the CB's (Construction Battalion) stationed in Sigonella, Sicily from 1981-1983 and 1985-1987 I went to London, England to an ELO concert and that was an awesome experience.
Really surprised how good this sounds

It is not the sophistication.
it is all about the emotion.
String arrangement is just glorious
it's the song that l Love a Lot, especially the bass guitar.
Another favorite by ELO. Always in my top 5 of great writing and arrangement with the Beatles, Allman Bros, Oasis and lynard skynard!
