Has the pleasure many years ago of seeing Debbie Reynolds perform in Annie Get Your Gun when we lived in Houston. What an amazing talent! She was one of a kind!
I adored your mom and sister, and really miss them. Glad you're still here, and your half sisters, too. I bought My Girls when it came out, and I love it.
So interesting to hear you read this, and the discussion! That book has always been upsetting to me. Such a sweet and sad story about Robert Wagner. He wrote in his autobiography of Debbie, "It's fair to say she liked me very much." Aw. I wish he'd said something kinder! She deserved it!!
I'm glad you stand up to your father and stand up for your mother. I can't imagine how carrying all this over the years has been for you, Todd. I think you've handled it well and with grace. I think people appreciate the respect you give both of your parents in their respective contexts.
I had no idea you two had a channel together! I loved hearing this story. I love Catherine’s cosmetic line and Todd, I am so pleased that you are able to speak so candidly about your parents and your upbringing. A lot of people can’t.
*Todd, Your dad certainly sounded like a he was so self absorbed in himself... thinking that he was the greatest lover on earth. But from two of his marriages, he helped a 'little' to produce 4 wonderful kids and they were all raised by two great mothers. So the question is, did he ever improve in the sack... but I guess not, seeing how many times he married & divorced... all short marriages. Debbie 1955-1959 ... Liz Taylor 1959-1964 ... Connie Stevens 1967-1969 ... Terry Richard 1975-1976 .... Betty Lin 1993-Died2001 - wiki is a great source of info.. Upon the book's publication, his daughter Carrie declared: "I'm thinking of having my DNA fumigated. Oh Carrie you are so missed... as is Debbie. You both rest in peace.🙂.*
My Mom introduced Debbie Reynolds to me on the screen in the Unsinkable Molly Brown when I was about 12 years old and I was wowed by her performance. I began seeing other movies that your Mom starred in and loved her performances and energy. I really loved your tribute to your Mom and sister, Carrie when they passed. It was so beautiful and such a graceful way to say goodbye to your family.
Damn!!! So glad I found you tonight. You have a profound knowledge of everything that is your family. You and Carrie tell it so well. I'm obsessed already.
Thank you, Todd and Cat, for sharing! I love and miss your Mom & Sister to this day, had lots of laughs going down a Carrie Fisher rabbit hole on UA-cam recently, great stuff🙏❤️
I am 73 now. Todd's parents were a generation ahead of me but I loved Debbie. Toward the end of her career, maybe 20 years ago now, she was still playing very small venues (Maybe Todd was with her doing her sound). We went and saw her in Lancaster, PA, Amish country. She was still great and doing it for the fun of doing it at that stage in her life. Eddie was really a self centered and awful human being. He was so hurtful to her, and likely to his kids as well. Clearly, Todd does not seem to have any good feelings. When Eddie wrote this book, for money and for his drugs and lifestyle, he was not thinking about the hurt it could cause her but only about himself. What kind of man does that? Not only that, but he was not even thinking that his hurtful words would live on for eternity and affect his kids, grandkids, etc. The public does not need to know this trash and it is just a shame he felt the need to put this all out there.
Todd, you don't need to justify your father's words in this so- called book! Debbie was the class act through and though! Your a wonderful son and brother, Your were raised well by a beautiful mother! I admire your love for these strong woman in your life!
I recall at Expo 67 in Montreal, at the American pavilion designed by the renowned Buckminster Fuller (and the geodesic dome is still on display to this day) there was an over-the-top display of Hollywood memorabilia....and the star piece in the show was Debbie Reynold's bed from the film The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Unforgettable!
The real story behind the stories is a way of protecting the actual legacy of great people... your mother has been one of my favourites of all time, since I was a child...
I ALWAYS thought Eddie Fisher was just WEIRD!!!! What Debbie saw in that WEIRDO IS BEYOND ME!!!! And I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE READING ABOUT MY MOTHER AND FATHER AND SEX, YUCK!!!!
I love listening to both of you. Just stumbled here today. I’ve never heard anyone talk about Debbie , Eddie & Liz’s dynamic of their relationships. More interesting than I expected. Subbed. You both seem to be such authentic people. Love & respect that so much.
Love your honesty Todd😊 wish you and your beautiful wife would do a podcast as well ...always been a big Debbie fan.. thank you Sybil from South Africa
No matter what anyone says Eddie Fisher had the GREATEST singing voice. We met him several times and he always took time for his fans. He made mistakes in his love affairs but we forgive him. Wish someone would release his "Coke time TV Show". They are GREAT. I have 15 of these wonderful shows and would love to have a complete set. Eddie should have stayed single and not got hooked on drugs.
I am Appalled at this so-called son of Eddie Fisher. He’s the one who’s turned out to be such an asshole. I don’t believe anything he is reading…l think he probably wrote this diary himself. Just to be in the limelight is all he’s after. What a Putz! To do this to his dead father is a tragedy!
Eddie Fisher sounds like he was a piece of work. Me personally, I don’t care about how Debbie Reynolds was presenting herself when she was younger and none of EF’s writing changes my opinion of her. If any of this is true, I’m glad to know that she was just another human being like the rest of us.
Eddie deeply regretted his marriage to Liz from his interviews. I always liked his voice and his performances you can see on UA-cam. He is always inrteresting to me and never boring as to the life he led.
Did Eddie ever talk about his regrets in losing Debbie. I always loved Connie Stevens & her daughters also. Loved Connie on HSN Shopping for a long time. She was such a warm person like Debbie. Both so so cute and down to earth.
I read the book some years ago. The opening chapters were quite brilliant. I thought everyone should read this book. Then I read it to the end and thought 'maybe not'.
Oh, hey, liked your book, Todd Fisher. Probably the most fascinating observation was how much her father meant to Carrie and how you could take it or leave it. Probably just a result of when your dad left your life, right? Interesting observation.
I wondered who was taking the dating pictures too! They had to have been posed pictures. My first thought was also that Eddie probably was clueless in bed.
I'm from Southern California I'm 90 years old and Debbie would have been a couple years older than me by now cuz we were almost the same age when we were in our twenties and I always wanted to make my eyebrows like her and act like her the only thing I didn't look like her I look more like Elizabeth Taylor that's weird people said I did anyway. And from what all the books I read and heard that he was well endowed and that could could have been the problem cuz it's not what you have it's what you can do with it without getting to
1) In the intro to Singin' in the Rain, between the star credits and the rest, the three are all walking in downpour under umbrellas with galoshes and raincoats, so Eddie's memory wasn't totally incorrect. 2) Debbie DID make a movie with Robert Wagner but it was in 1959 and when Debbie was 20 it was 1952. 3)The red car in front of which Debbie is standing IS, in fact, a T-bird. Since they married in '55, he probably brought it in fall of '54. 4) Richard Burton said of ET that every night was like a one night stand, so it probably was the same with Eddie and he was probably gaga about that. I remember hearing Eddie in the very early 50s, when I was very young. I also remember seeing him sing on the Academy Awards (I think it was '61 and the song was Tonight). He was a good singer. I actually was impressed with the cut of his tuxedo! I didn't sew then so can't figure out why that caught my attention, except for the camera angle. There was no pucker in the set-in sleeve.
Fred Rogers was not a handsome man, either. He did not use his fame to make passes at women during his marriage. And Mr. Rogers had musical talent, like Eddie Fisher.
Todd has gained weight since I met him, it was either in the 90's or the early 2000's. He had a nice first wife, was the daughter of Stan Freberg. Eddie was 'different', but after getting well from the BETTY FORD clinic, He was like a regular guy and we had fun talking about different mutual interests; BOXING, OLD MOVIES, WOMEN, MEN'S FASHION etc.

It’s cute in an eccentric sort of way and that’s what made her an interesting person.

Todd, I definitely want to read this book!!! Lordy, after you reading it, never mind! Your mama was too good for him.
Eddie Fisher was a putz. Talented but a putz. How he managed to get not one, but three lovely stars to marry him is beyond me.
@chrisn7259 By “putz,” do you mean the laziest white man you ever saw, or the laziest Jewish man you ever saw?
He probably was very charming "! 😂❤😂
Thank you for sharing Todd 🙏🕊️🕯️🙏
Hope some man will learn from this ,no man I know or had relationships with was no smarter than Eddie. He got suckered in by Elizabeth
I Debbie off a flight with SWA. She gave me a hug and we just talked..I love Debbie Reynolds

Eddie's book was oddly mean and a bit sloppy. Why trash the ex-wife you walked out on for her best friend? He never seemed to be very self-aware.
