Two things I stopped doing: 1. Dash after 10pm when orders are all long line drive thrus and from cheap ass people living in apts. 2. Dash during peak pay when drivers saturate the area and DD lowers base pay equal to peak pay.
Try walking thru downtown Portland with a sack of DoorDash food. It's a homeless camp. 5 robbery attempts and 3 threts against my life in 2 blocks. Know the good areas, avoid the bad!
Lol I also add an extra word when asking times: "How long is it "really" going to take?" Suddenly their default answer of "It'll be ready in a few minutes" to "Oh um, actually its gonna be like 15."
After waiting between 5 - 10 minutes I get a prompt now asking if I would like to un-assign the order without it effecting my acceptance rate. Are you guys getting this prompt now too?
I’m not calling the lady with a chicken in her house unless I have a good reason. And I never wait more than 10min. No matter what. Good video as usual Zach, thanks!
I want to point out that calling support even for a safety issue is a waste of time. I’m sure if you got attacked and called 9-1-1 and then called support afterwards, it wouldn’t be, but short of that, it’s a waste of time. Just the other day, I took a McDonald’s order and when I got there, I saw that an ex-girlfriend of mine was there being trained. I have a restraining order against this girl and she’s even done time in a psychiatric facility because she tried to run me off the road when I was with my brother, his girlfriend, and their newborn baby. So I called support and since I was saying restraining order, they were only focused on the word order and were trying to help me with my current delivery. I finally got them to understand what I was saying and then was told that my situation didn’t qualify. I basically told them that I can’t go to McDonald’s since she works there. If you don’t know, even if you are the one that gets a restraining order against somebody, you can still be the one that gets in trouble if you know the person is there and you intentionally keep going there. At least in Indiana you can anyway. Anyway, 9 of my next 11 offers were for McDonald’s.
The most aggravating thing I've had to call support for was just couple days ago I got about a $8 order from Popeyes. Got there and they said they were out of basically everything they order like rice, beans , blacken chicken. I was thing ugh ok this is only the 3rd time I've been to Popeyes and the 3rd time there's been a major issue. Contacted customer and told him Popeyes couldn't substitute what he ordered because they said there out of basically everything for some reason and hed have to cancel. He said he tried and said he couldn't because it shows Popeyes are already fulfilling the order so I had to waste 30 min with support so I wasn't penalized and I'd get something for my time which now I realize I should of just taken the hit by cancelling. I felt like I did everything to make it right and help him out and I shouldn't cancel and be penalized when it wasn't my fault but now realize that fairness doesn't really matter when I end up in worse shape trying to make things right. Popeyes I believe was in the wrong because why they put down they were fulfilling the order beats me. The crazy thing is is I've delivered around 400 orders and only been to Popeyes 3 times and of the 4 times I've had these sort of issue, 3 were Popeyes so I've never successfully delivered from Popeyes so now I'm just striking them and just will decline anything that comes from there.
I've stopped accepting Popeyes orders for the same reason. The one in my area always seems to be out of something. Last time I went in there they told me basically they didn't have half of the customer's order. No more Popeyes.
HI Zac. Those were some good tips. I never sit at just one restaurant but where there are a group of them. One note on your comment about going back to a restaurant to get them to fix a wrong order and driving back to the customer. You are right that it is great customer service. I will do this If the distance from the restaurant to the customer is short and it was a good paying order, I have gotten several cash tips when I have done this and you can get a 5star rating, I would evaluate the time of day and distance and order amount to do this and if it makes sense then I would do it, Keep driving,

Waiting: Every 5 minutes you wait, you lose $2.30 in that order. This is based on a person who has a hrly rate of $28.
Do you have any videos advising door dash contractors about the need for business insurance and setting up an LLC for thier business?

I really miss the 2020 GrubHub orders that payed $30+. That was back when GrubHub had much better suggested tipping options to the customer.
Dude..for 6 bucks it all seems desperate.
