I'm married and we don't believe in 50/50. We believe in 100/100. I pay the mortgage and she contributes to other bills. 100/100 means that there are times when only one can pay a bill or complete a task and it's done so out of necessity. I've been off work at times for situations out of my control and my wife made up for it. We do what's in the best interest of our family. 50/50 is tit for tat and realistically in the real world there will be times when one of the two will be short. A 50/50 structure will only bring in resentment if one can't provide their half. While I do take contribute largely to finances, my wife take care of tasks that I would rather not deal with on a day to day basis so it's a tradeoff but I do them when I have to. Most people never last long in relationships because of the 50/50 mindset. Yeah it works for a bit in the beginning phases but when shit gets real, that's when true colors come out from the other 50% not being met.

The way we see it, is that all expenses come from the household money. If she were to take on a full payment for the mortgage, at some point down the road I'm making up for it. So it's not like just because I don't pay it, I have the extra money for myself. That's not how things work.

It doesn't matter if you go 50/50 or pay 100% of everything, none of it will guarantee loyalty from a woman because there's no such thing as a loyal woman. There never has been. The women in the older days were incentivized to stay whereas today they're incentivized to leave. That's the only difference. This is why it would be wise in today's times to get a woman who is willing to invest something financially into the relationship because family laws are rigged against men. So if she's equally or partially invested into the relationship, she will be less likely to leave because it's human nature to protect your investment.

I got married early at 22 had kids and we did 50/50 or 100/100 but then his family made him feel that he must rule. His logic was he wanted me to get out the military and go back home to a slum for him to feel adequate with no realistic plan. I wasn’t a fool. That led to divorce and I raised my boys alone for the next 17 years. Became a RN after my retirement and I’m at peace with my autonomy. Marriage is not necessary these days and we all know deep within who really benefits the most. My Dad told me to NEVER depend on a man and to have my own because men are manipulative and lazy and desire to do less while watching you really break your back. Men don’t deserve legacy or putting their names on a kid when you’re providing outside the home and expected to do most of the work in the home and with the children. He said a man don’t deserve you having his name. You might as well keep your own name and make your own decisions without putting up with fragile egos.

Although, that is true, they dont wnat that. I took care of my wife for 7 years. Never had to work. We agreed that she stay home with them until old enough for school. Supplied her with what she needed to make it work. When she finally started working cuz I got hurt we have 20k in savings left. She didnt want to save anything. We later fell out due to her mindset. She had problems prior relationship I later found out when she started to get into it bad with her mother.

The flaw in Yada’s principles truly takes away from the valued presence in the home. If the man is labored with providing 100% then he’s out hustling and working rather than having an equal opportunity to actively be there for his family. The father will only be seen for what he provides rather than for his position. Men are leaders, lovers of his family, teachers, givers, protectors, providers, builders, way makers and more.
A family is going to have to work. So if the father is home then the mother works or they are both at work. But its unfair to a woman because she will always do the most with the kids and still have to work. So yes I agree with Yada. A man presence is needed but it's the mothers role to nurture and most mothers want to be with her kids so why deprive her.

I been saying this for the longest. I don't see where a man pay all the bills is a benefit to the man.. That ain't no plus that's a minus. That's black people talk. I don't see that practice in other cultures. The average home today cost 300,000. What average black man make enough to pay for that by himself and save money and maintain all the financial responsibility of everything.
And women say they don't see how paying 50% with a man is a benefit to her. So it's an issue. I can get a roommate if I want my bills to be split. My Grandfather payed 100 percent for the bills. He was barely home in the 1950s and, 1960s by 1980 at the age of 57 he was dead from a sudden stroke. He did not get his pension. My Father held down the family with 3 jobs he died at age 47 yrs. My brother had 2 jobs and plenty of stress He died last month at the age of 50.
