I was born in Sweetwater , this song perfectly captures what it feels like , or did when I was a child. I can almost smell the red dirt when listening to this...brings memories and a bit of a tear.
Wow, a good portion of the people who commented on this video were brought here by NCS. What a good man, because it seems like this song got little attention. But that aside, wow. This song is extremely beautiful! Maybe because it's currently winter, but it definitely places me into a very contemplative mood. Not necessarily sad, but there's some hint of it, along with beauty and just... quiet peace, as if this song is playing early in the morning... I'm just rambling by now...
NCS, or NintendoCapriSun, is a Let's Player on UA-cam. One of his past videos was a song he made called "Hang In There," which he said in the video description was loosely based off of the tune of "Sweetwater, Texas." Hence, the presence of his fans in this video's comments section.
Remembering this song when cds were a main source of music supply brought me here. Reminiscing from a great summer full of memories. Too bad this wasn't a single when the album came out.
Mike M I hear you. Funny thing - I got this album on cassette around 98-99. I remember listening to this album alot while driving to the ocean and enjoying what used to be a memorable season for me - summer. I miss those days. Think I still have the cassette somewhere too. "Fall into the sound."
pineapplepeanuts "The Way" was a theme song for a group of us that summer. Favorite memory was leaving an outdoor concert (storms coming up). Taking back-roads on the way home. "The Way" came on the radio as we all had a beer in our hand, (all 6 of us). Singing the song, drinking, and chucking cans out the window in the middle of nowhere. Would have made a great video...
I love 90s music! Just think: Today you may find one or two good songs, but the 90s offer thousands of good songs. I'm sick of auto-tune. Why can't there be a decade in the future that offers 90s-esque music? I guess we will be stuck with Lady Gag Gag and Justin Boober.
I lived in Sweetwater Texas From 1999 - 2003, is that the same town this song is referring too? If it is Sweetwater had a lot of good people living there. Some of my fondest memories were from the few short years I lived there. Never had better friends in my life.
@PopCulture20 "This is one of those songs not a single but still great. Which is why I love late 90s' rock albums". That fact applies to pretty much every good album ever recorded. It seems silly to use that as a reason to like late 90s rock albums in particular.
@PopCulture20 Well, I was just saying rock started becoming more Album-Oriented then. I wasn't really talking about one specific sub-genre. So yeah, maybe you're right in saying that pop-rock specifically didn't become album oriented until the late 90s, I dunno. But yeah, this band and Extreme are pretty far away from each other in terms of style.
@PopCulture20 What? How do you know what I listen to? Katy Perry, Ke$ha Britney and shit aren't the only musicians currently in existence! Lot's of modern rock is still great! The Von Hertzen Brother's released their new album a month ago or something, and it's great! And the single isn't the best song on it. And I'm pretty sure AOR started before the late 90s. One awesome one I know is Extreme - III Sides to Every Story - definitely album oriented and definitely brilliant!
@PopCulture20 Wow. Judgemental much? I'll have you know I listen to tons of music from a huge variety of genres. Just because I haven't heard of this group before NCS means I like Katy Perry and autotuned stuff? Really? NCS introduced this group to his fanbase though.

There's something about this song that just screams West Texas. I used to live in Plainview and think about it whenever I listen to this.
This song was my motherfucking lullaby when I was in highschool. I listened to it twice before going to sleep every single night.
driving through this town, listening to this, right now!
That guitar and tone at the beginning...takes you to a peaceful place
So this is what I get when I search for my hometown on UA-cam....cool
Carlee Cox you should be proud
Amazing song. Like entire album.
Thanks for posting this song, it's one of my favorite songs on one of my favorite albums!
Am I the only non american/non texan who likes and grew up in this song? Man, this brings back the days with my guitar in my dads garage..

Surprised "Sweetwater, Texas" never made a soundtrack...
I'm actually from the town that this song is about and I think that its so cool for our small town to have a major band write a song about us :)
Still got the Compact Cassete but I don't have the player anymore.. bought the album because "out of my head", but then this became my fave song..
"Life In A Northern Town" reborn. Love this track...
Thanks NCS this song is great!
Love this tune! Thanks for the upload!

the instrumental intro gives me chills
Thank you NCS, you showed me a new band i am really starting to enjoy!
Great song
@megaman1025 It's the guitar melody. It's the same as the beeping in Hang in There.
@rosielover999 I was born in Sweetwater in '67 left before I was 2,I wanna go there someday,I'm curious to check it out.
I have no clue who NCS is...but I loved Nintendo and Caprisuns...but I don't drink them anymore.
J aime cette chanson.
I've been a fan of this since I was 9, but, when did NCS use it or talk about it?
@Omeegia me too! I forgot that I knew this song.
@xKittyKillswitchX I don't see how this song is similar to {"Hang In There" at all
@Omeegia i am, i guess not many people read his discription

Hang In There Baby :)
@PopCulture20
What? How is that exclusive to 90s' rock album?
Modern bands release albums as well...
No, I can’t hear the “Hang In There” melody in this.
Lol, I can hear it..I can feel it
Yes, NCS brought me here too.
@Omeegia nope your not the only one.
