They used to show this in mexican TV when i was a kid, with spanish voiceover.....because of it, many children in mexico were named Daigoro at the time. Such a great hit!!

No one looks as good on-screen as Tomisaburo Wakayama! Not only is the cinematography top-notch for its day, it's great by today's standards too. But Wakayama? That man knows how to bring a sword to life like no one else! =)

He initiates the high sword bearing of Soryu, Horse Killing Style employed by his Father who then walks into the scene…and it WENT DOWN…Ito TOOK the man’s arm off but let him live…it was excellent combat too👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🗡‼️

@@rumar4u Shogun Assassin came out in 1980. And before that there was another film made from the Baby Cart Series called Lightning Swords of Death, Which came out in the Seventies.
Many tv and movies inspire other movies or tv shows from different cultures. If you watch the Mandalorian you can see similarities in old westerns such as the good the bad and the ugly and old Asian martial arts films such as these characters from Shogun assassins or lone wolf and cub.
there is an interview with jon favreau where he says his approach to the mandalorian was to not use george lucas work for inspiration, but instead to watch the and get inspired by the stuff that lucas was inspired by. so he watched, among other old samurai and western stuff, lone wolf and cub and basically had the underlying dynamic of his series. seems like this is the secret behind the fact, that it feels so unique and fresh and so "Star Warsy" at the same time. I was surprised to learn the child wasn't a genius marketing idea by disney but instead sprung from the real imagination of a real author:D
This is the best action movie of sword play I have seen, but you left out the ninja women that seen is awesome. To be in their presences was death if you could not defeat them, even if was just for a visit to say hello!
With how much training tomasaburo ( I think thats his name) has had, aswell as the practice of slashing at people in the movies, if he went to a shopping mall with a sword... That might even be scarier than a shooter cause u know your gonna get slashed horribly instead of maybe a head shot
