Of all the players I've seen on your channel, Jack is the smartest. He plays the "game within the game" exceptionally. Primarily approaching deep on Nik's weaker side, his backhand.
Bro what the hell, I played against Nik’s team last year in community college tennis, and when I saw him play I thought he was the best player I had ever seen play in my life lol. Crazy to see him on here! Nice job!!
You definitely bring out the best sportsmanship, its a pleasure watch the competitive nature between the two players but equally the pure joy for the game.
Thank you, Winston, for showing us that tennis can be entertaining at other levels besides pro tour. Regards from Brisas del Golf, San Miguelito, Panamá.
Nik is chill AF, looks like he’s a chill surfer. Bro why you going from 2h to 1h when the 1hbh is such a liability on the return. I hit a 1hbh also and I loathe myself on returns
Thanks Jack and Nik for some high quality tennis. Lots we can learn from Jack's effective playing. Nik is very brave to make the leap to one handed backhand, I hope he has lots of fun playing with it, I certainly do. I can't stand two handed backhand either :-) Thanks to Winston for bringing together so many top players for us mere mortals to learn from. My kids certainly enjoy watching these videos and getting a feel of what competitive tennis looks like.
I've been trying a one hander for a few months after being a 2 hander as a Jr and i dont think you can get the same comfort around it if you grew up playing the other way. Jack was pretty relentless in attacking nik's backhand on his approaches to the net.
The problem was his backhand was all arm. Need to get feet set and uncoil from the torso. Maybe nick wasn't used to the pace. That happens to me with my backhand.
Really enjoy your channel. You seem to have a wealth of talent in your area. Enjoy watching great players who are very high level but make a few mistakes here and there like the rest of us. Your channel demonstrates how styles of play match up against each other. Jack is an absolute all-court attacking beast! To play with that much aggression but with very few mistakes was truly exceptional. Very complete game for high school player. Nik was definitely hampered with learning a new backhand but I really admired his ability to move and defend. Coupled with his monster flat serve you can appreciate the teeth in Nik's game. Great sportsmanship by both players!
Jack definitely looks ready for D1. Really good tennis IQ and consistency and is great all around. He’s probably one of my favorite players to watch on the channel
Fun to watch these two excellent players. With a second set we might have seen Nik more dialed in.... it did seem he was just not warmed up yet (too many into the net and long), and it was confirmed in post-match discussion. I was watching follow-through technique on Nik's backhand, and--without watching again-seems he should review his follow-through. Loved Jack's serve technique: I watched lower body and it was super. (With Nik's legs and wings, truly a body made for tennis, he should be able to achieve an amazing serve as well.)
Sick winner at 3:07!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean that is some %$^&%^&%^ pace and placement. Amazing playing from both players. Their movement, shots, etc are all awesome to watch. I love the serve technique by Jack, he really generates alot of coil, you can see his knees pointing to camera and his back is pointing to net, just mind boggling flexibility and POWER!!!
Nik’s Backhand is so aggresive but the thing is, for him it’s an all or nothing shot 😂. Sometimes he doesn’t need to rip it cus it costs him the point but all around he seems like a pretty good player. Super chill guy as well
Jack is how I play when I play against a ball machine , just rip city , but when I play against a human . I play like a 8 year old Swiss girl , no power no spin no nothing , I can’t explain it .
Great match and both are strong players! Some of my students may have played Jack down at Winter Nationals. What camera are you using to track these matches? Love the videos and keep up the great video content Winston!
Is it me of is Hyper-G nearly always the string people use in these videos? Why's it so popular in that area of the US? Or is the sample size too small :-)
Basically is your win rate. As you get better, better are the opponents you manage to beat and your utr keeps rising until your losses balance your wins and your utr stays. And if you keep losing your utr goes down. Don’t think nik still is utr 12.8, he looked rusty. But utr 11.3 is a top division college player and utr 12.8 is at pro circuit futures level
Nik was a good 2 meters behind the baseline most of the time. Does he play mostly on clay? Needs to lower his center of gravity and play closer to the baseline. His backhand switch doesn't help either as confidence is not there. Keep at it and don't give up.
Switching from two-handed to one-handed at this level? Doubt if this will take him back to the level he was at. Guess Nik needs to try something new as the motivation.
I think you have to give Nik more time to develop his one-handed backhand. He was hitting it too flat and made to many errors into the net. I thought Nik's running forehand was outstanding. And his serve was so strong at times. I wouldn't characterize Nik as a grinder, more counter-puncher. He took many risks on forehand and backhand. Jack was solid but if Nik has more time to work on his game, you can see he's got talent and could beat Jack. I would give Nik a rematch in a year.
When I seen the Instagram reel of this match I was thinking Winston had improved so much!... then I realised that it was Jack not Winston 😅 they look similar no?

absolutely insane serve by jack especially with that height, his forehand is a ripper too
Jack the ripper?
How tall is jack?
@@kesun32145 karue is 6ft and winston looks to be around the same height as him. I'm assuming Jack's 5'9-5'10

Hermont vs jack. That's a banger
Jack is crazy good. Love this content, keep it up Winston!
Nik has a good energy to him. He doesn't take himself too seriously.
Jack is my favorite player to watch on your channel. I'm always rooting for you, Winston!

Love to see one-handed backhands at this level from Nik, but too much of a weakness against a player like Jack. It gave him way too many short balls.
The problem was his backhand was all arm. Need to get feet set and uncoil from the torso. Maybe nick wasn't used to the pace. That happens to me with my backhand.

I'm officially in love with jack's serve, too beautiful
That thing is perfect. Looks like it came out of a text book.
Great tennis from Jack. Nik has great shots as well, and I liked his attitude towards the match not going his way. Kudos to both
Fun to watch these two play. I really loved watching Jack look to step in on balls and play aggressive from the baseline!
Oh wow, Jack is soooo smooth and good man..He has a very beautiful game style.

Has Jack played Hermont yet?
These guys are such gents. great game
Jack had the great movement. He knew when to come in and end points. Also very consistent, few errors.
Both are great players and seem like very cool human beings.
The conditions of this match are just so perfect with it being shady but not overcast is the best conditions for a good tennis match.
Hermont vs Jack! 😁

jack‘ racket speed is insane!
this shows how hard it is to defend when using a one handed backhand. Wish I could hit well with a 2 handed backhand, facing similar issues
the serve at 8:54 was in, how could you not caught that?
Jack vs Matteo 🙏
Played nicks team in high-school and in college he always had a reliable two hander especially when returning I wonder why he switched
Hi Winston! I'm not good with these tennis terms, what do these UTR's mean? Like good the level is!?

Winston, I thibk you should match up Rishvanth and Adrian.
Winston challenge the winner? :)
On the one hander back hand it looks like you open up your shoulders to much which makes it bit inconsistent

Yeah, I think their swing motion when hitting the cross-court forehand shot looks very similar.
Im early 😉 nice video winston 👍
Nik played as a 4.5 usta due to many unforced errors
Nik is significantly weaker on his backhand, whereas Jack has the ability to use his as a weapon.
