Saint Anselm of Canterbury was a Benedictine monk and theologian who lived in the 11th and 12th centuries in England. He was born into a noble family and became a monk at an early age, later rising to become the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Anselm was known for his intellect, his writings, and his contributions to the development of Christian theology. He is often referred to as the "Father of Scholasticism" and is remembered for his famous works, such as "Proslogion" and "Cur Deus Homo?"
Anselm's theological contributions were focused on the relationship between faith and reason, the nature of God, and the doctrine of the atonement. He was a prolific writer and his works have had a significant influence on Christian thought and philosophy.
