  • Hello Friends. ~ I wanted to share my appreciation to all of you for helping me get to this day. As I stand in the back of the room wearing my snug ( non-compression) leggings and a shirt with a message that speaks to a truth we all share, I am so grateful for the accomplishments I have made with your help, love, friendship and constant support. ~ Thank You!!!!! : )

Happy Anniversary!!! You look wonderful and have come along way, just awesome!! I’m 7 years post op and struggling with a 10-15lb regain after losing my dad suddenly on Thanksgiving. I’d love to know what you are eating and your meals, I need help getting back on track. 🙏🏻

I am so sorry for the loss of your father. That kind of saddness would make anyone emotionally eat and gain some weight. That's okay, it happens to all of us for one reason or another. I don't know what surgery you had, but assuming you are out 7 years from DS you should know what to eat...nothing has changed in the food deprtment, but I will tell you what I am eating in a video that I will be positng today. Mostly for me it is portion control. I don't eat a lot of food at one time....I eat a little bit several times a day, mostly protein foods like eggs, fish, chicken and cheese. I love to make chicken broth and sip on a cup of that each day. I still do the sugar free ice pops, low fat yogurt and sugar free jello for snacking...and nuts....lately I'm eating pastachios. I will suggest that you do the pre-op diet (liquids and a few hard boiled eggs or a light salad) for a few days to get back on track and you should see a few pounds lost. Movement is still important, even if it is just a long walk each day. If you are near a treadmill, get on it for at least 30 min. This should get you started losing again. Let me know how you do. Hugs!

Okay, I did post a video today about the foods I eat...just for you. VSG is a tough one to maintain. I struggeled for 5 yrs. with it. I was not always on my best behavior, but I struggeled with stalls and not passing the 240 mark on the scale. Frustrations set in when stalls and no losses happen and at times I handled it with ice cream and cake. VSG offers no consequences when you are bad except weight gain. DS is a stronger surgery that you have to adjust to, but it does help you loose the most weight and maintain better than any other surgery. That is why I chose it. VSG I found allows your body to adjust to less calories and therefore does not go to the stored fat cells for energy. Younger people do better and lose more from what I have seen and several VSG'rs that I know have had revision surgeries due to regains. They got RnY or DS to get them where the VSG did not. I can only tell you that if you can accept being 10 or 15 lbs. up and live with that, then Ok...but if you are not happy, continue to gain and it gets out control, consider a revision. Until that time keep on watching your food and portions, keep it low carb and high protein, drink a lot of water and exercise several times a week. Also, Check out Rock's Kitchen on youtube. He had a VSG in 2014 and cooks up some really good food. Good Luck and thank you for watching my channel. I really do appreciate that. Hugs!

cookielu how did you get insurance to approve a revision? This VSG was great in beginning but now 7 years out I can eat anything, hungry all the time, and not a lot of restriction.

Interestingly, I had my Blackstone seminar tonight. It was only 2 hrs long. She now has a Dr. Lovato partnering w/her, so maybe she will miss fewer appts w patients. Maybe she kept standing u up bc she knew u wanted DS and she wanted to make ur VSG work. Robin mentioned DS at tonight’s seminar, but said it was only for extremely BMIs with Diabetes, etc. I think she does do them, but rarely do ppl in her opinion qualify. Perhaps what happened w ur 2012 VSG was they made ur sleeve too large? Also, have u had ur gallbladder taken out - that can slow things down. I read that Ox Bile can help a sluggish or missing gallbladder. I’m glad Schuster took care of you, and you r almost to goal. I’m glad ur where you wanted to be. I’m glad u outsmarted the greedy pulmonary specialist. But u should get a f/u sleep study someday just to be sure. May I suggest if such a study does reveal OSA that u don’t get a CPAP, but rather see a snoring dentist for a mandibular advancement device (which would be covered by Medicare even though it comes from a dentist). You wouldn’t want to get to your weight goal, only to end up with a bad event from sleep apnea which u thought u didn’t have. It was probably due to ur higher weight, but sometimes it occurs in ppl who had tooth extractions and/or braces, and has nothing to do with weight.
I enjoyed your videos. Feel free to message me as I also live in Phoenix!
