In case there was any confusion, I don’t condone going all max rarity on everything. The majority of people watched the video, but some people went straight to the comments; so no, you don’t need to. I’d consider it if you were going to YCS’s because the more invested you are financially, the more likely you are to be engaged, but ultimately, you should obviously spend how you’re comfortable spending. TikTok has truly ruined a generation’s attention spans. Anyway, I’ve been experimenting with making the beats for my videos, thoughts? 😅 Thanks, and also I love you 🥰
I honstly think starlights and qcrs look like trash except for some cards like certain traps, fusions, and links. I've seen some xyz and synchros that look ok too but certain things like stardust and red eyes flare metal and apollousa would look better as ultimate or secret rare, and most magic cards and effect monster's look horrible. It's especially the case for qcr's with their gold writing because some cards like ttt don't look too bad in starlight, though I wouldn't consider them desirable, even if they were a fraction of the price. We're screwed over in the TCG though just look at the OCG's new ultimate rares compared to ours and the 20th anniversary rares are on another level...
@@darronpattel i know it will sound weird, but i rarity-coded my decks. Rarity Collection ulti looks amazing for Traps making them somewhat like a metal card. Collector is the best on Xyz (a bit less good on Synchro), while Quarter seems the best on Spells (although to be honest i also dont like Starlight/QCSR). Personally i'm a big fan of the Extra Secret (new platinum secret) because it's just typical secret with some extra shine and makes all staple handtraps easier to identify compared to in-engine secrets.
@@babrad I pulled a tt talent and it looks horrible imo but all the quarter century traps I pulled like feather storm look amazing. Thinking back on it, the two ultimate rare I didn't mind were summon limit and sphere mode cus the yellow and orange on the ra picture didn't make it stand out too much and the artwork on summon limit looks so good in ultimate that I could ignore the rest, but I still think the ocg ulti's are so nice in comparison that they almost look fake in the tcg. I knew when I saw one of the new ultis from Japan a few years ago that they were gonna mess it up in the tcg, just like they did with maximum gold (literally all the cards I pulled and saw for sale online were off center) or ghost from the past (all the blue eyes were misprints)

I felt like this after I spent $240 on snake eyes in YMD. I was like man, someone could’ve really used this for food. So I won’t spend that much again.
@@BanishforCost I like how someone rightfully calls out one of your comments in the video as lacking knowledge and being ignorant and you decide to just double down on it instead lol
Ariseheart QCR holders would like a word, as will Wanted and Black Witch holders in ~6 months. Yugioh's not an investment, and value is so extremely relative in short windows of time. "The Common does the same thing" is something players need to be humbled by. Great video more, players need to think about this
I like playing with low rarity because: 1) "Pro players" might think I am a noob and underestimate my gaming knowledge 2) They might get embarrassed and my win will become so much sweeter knowing my cards are valued less 3) If I do somehow lose them or get stolen, it's easier to get them back. But I do understand the thing with blinging your favorite archetype.
To me this just brings to mind that the more you vest time and interest into a deck & competitive play, the more your play patterns will improve and adjust to win more. It's not the rarity, it's the mindset.
i pulled 2 QCR diabellstar out of AGOV and a bunch of Imsety i now have a full snake-eyes deck and barely paid anything for it after ebay sales and trades, if i went max rarity for it, i wouldnt be anywhere close to actually playing it
only rarity "bump" I have done is with swordsoul where I got every main deck card as an ultra, which meant downgrading some and as many ED cards as possible to secret. The deck looks so clean and it was a cheap way to make my favourite deck by far nice imo. I regret nothing, but will also not rarity bump many things unless there like 40p from rarity collection and I'm already ordering from that seller so throw it in under shipping
Nah, makes no difference to me, just glitter on cardboard. If I want to splurge ridiculously money on pieces of cardboard, at that stage, I would rather splurge the money into my various investment portfolios. Unless I am going to YCS levels of tournaments playing to win, I won’t be spending this type of money maxing out rarities, especially when it comes to the absolute cream of the crop meta cards.
I do the opposite. As expected, I had my branded deck stolen this weekend at the ycs, thank God it was not my 2k max rarity exosisters and and just regular rarity. I didn't know anyone there and the chances of it being stolen and not returned is far greater. At my locals I have yet to have anything stolen I've left my branded and exosisters multiple times there and it's always been returned because they know exactly who's it was.
Big question: If im at a ycs and during the middle of it, My expensive versions of my cards tank in price, do I just scoop and panic? Or will I be okay because you mentioned Patrick Hobin and Kanye West
I have only maxed out rarity a deck once: Orcust. Seeing an ulti playset of dingirsu and galatea makes my brain happy. However, when getting a new deck I'll always go for low rarity unless the max rarity is cheap anyway
If there is a reprint from super rare to secret rare for common/rare cards I have, I'll upgrade usually cuz I'll be bound to get nostalgia for past pet decks.
max rarity in mtg -> alt art max rarity in pokemon -> alt art max rarity in one piece -> alt art max rarity in yugioh -> the same card in ugly glitter that will definitely never be reprinted in this form again...
I max rarity exosisters I didn't do it to be a better player I did it because it the only deck I ever wanted to bling out. Everyone should try to bling out their favorite deck. I can believe it should make you feel better in every way. I played my branded deck during the ycs it was not max rarity at all. However I was stolen this weekend. I'm so glad it was my branded deck not the exosisters. If I ever go anywhere else I'm leaving my max rarity deck and using my cheapest one. I will bring my max rarity to locals. I have never had anyone steal it if I leave it somewhere.
Most people max rarity for pet decks, which they are usually good at playing. Not vice versa as the video suggests. If you're good with a deck, you tend to bling it out.
I think i disagree with this reading of the pygmalion effect. Rarity has no functional difference so should not actually change your expectations, i think a better reading would be something more like if you have bonfires in you fire king snake eyes deck but never draw them the entire tournament you will still perform better then if they were not in the deck at all since you have more faith in the build. Great video overall though
The only exception to rarity affecting how good/bad you can perform is about bending and thickness, leading to having cards distinguishable from the rest. At least in the EU, both DuDe Ultra Rares as well as FuEn Supers bend in a way different compared to Ultras/Supers from other sets. I didn't know that until I saw a ycs champion say to his opponent "nice strike there" (Solemn Strike from DuDe) and beat them over 3 turns of direct attacks with Salamangreat Falco. BTW neither player was cheating, I was watching that match and it was a friendly locals game (the pro player even went out of his way to allow takebacks, even suggested better lines to the point of revealing Nib at some point encouraging the opponent to not overextend by keeping will instead of making a dweller... then lost because of it). I went to my Salad deck and tried to cut it nonrandomly and I could always cut into Strike. I asked other people as well and the only one I couldn't always cut to the DuDe staples was a HERO deck having a Hobby league ROTA (thickness issue, same with Platinum Rares) and a FuEn Polymerization, but after a few tries I found out which one it was by touch. So I had 3 choices to top deck into. While the opponent gets the final cut, it's easy to unconsciously cut into those cards. And this can be easily abused. Fun fact, that same player told me the reason he's always using Commons or Ultis is because they don't bend. From that point, I always try to avoid deck-checking because proving this to be intentional is a bottomless rabbit hole, sticking to solving ruling (my favorite) or policy issues.
First of all I would consider their to be no pro players and Yu-Gi-Oh because because you did not have no tournaments with people can make money and make a living off the game to me a pro is somebody who makes a living off the game and it's living
If this Patrick Hoban is the same clown that did that stupid gentleman's agreement sht then I can't take what he said seriously and it sounds like he's working on a new scam to help resellers drive up the price of qcr's and it sounds like a bad troll almost.
