Yes this song was about the Christmas Truce, exactly what you were thinking of. Sabaton makes music about History, moments in history and War. Everything being factual checked and true stories. They always educate on events that happened.
If you want an awesome live song with them you should react to En livstid i krig (a lifetime of war) live Scandinavium Gothenburg. The album Carolus rex that they released during that time is about a part of Swedish history called the era of great power (stormaktstiden in Swedish) from when Sweden was one of the ruling powers. It is the Swedish version of the song (the album was released in both a Swedish and English version) so make sure that you have the subtitles on, I was at that show and all I can say is that you won't regret it.
The Final Solution is so powerful. What just kills me is how relevant it is to the time we are currently in. History is so darn important. We need it so we hopefully don't make the same mistakes over and over again and Sabaton is so amazing in how they bring that history back to us. As the cross "Lest We Forget"
Interesting curiosity: The Part Sung in Opera (credits) is made by Floor Jansen - current vocalist of Nightwish and also wife of Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of Sabaton) , The first soldier to go up the trench unarmed during the clip
just found this channel Sabaton is one hell of a rabbit hole to go down They are Swedish metal band formed in 1999 that sing about actually historical events They also have history channel on youtube called Sabaton history were do the history about the song and don't worry about Sabaton videos being blocked as the group has manged themselves from the start so there not tied to a label
Great reaction 👏 Czech filmakers are very good 😊 and Floor at the and sounds heavenly 😍🤯🎩btw Tommy Johansson (guitarists) is amazing singer and musician and very cool guy
Welcome to Power Metal meets history. Sabaton is the best out there. They bring history to life and in such a way that the newer generation can relate to. You learn without even realizing that you are doing so. If you choose to continue down the Sabaton rabbit hole may I suggest also listening to Sabaton History. They collaborate with a historian where they go into more detail about the history that their songs come from.
If this is your first Sabaton reaction you should check out the anime story for no bullets fly and night witches, also Yarnhub did a animated story video of Christmas Truce as well and well worth the watch.

I was SO moved by En Livstid I Krig that I learned it in Swedish, so I could be a part of the sing-along!

The Final Solution, Cliffs of Gallipoli and 1916 are other tearjerkers

Funny you should mention gospel...
The voices echoing Joakim, in the second verse starting with "madness", were in fact an Italian gospel choir.
Really good reaction

Saboton added Carol of the bells into the instrumentals of this song.
It is based on a true story from ww1 in the early war.
would highly recommend en livstid i krig (live from gothenburg) and there brand new song 1916
