    Thank you so much for this. None existent wifi in the garden and upstairs but we have loads of smart bulbs and plugs. You’ve really helped me with what to do!!

    Had similar problem with BT Smarthub 2 and 2.4ghz smart plugs. Could not get them to connect or log in to new router and complete WiFi. I found work around, turn off the 5ghz network on the Smart Hub, so unit is just running in 2.4ghz. Get smart plugs connected, it worked first time. Then turn on the 5ghz again. Now the smart plugs connect fine, even through the Mesh compete WiFi disks. Have also bought additional EE 2023 extender disk and all is working fine. The issue is the combined network when trying to initially connect it seems. This may work for others but suspect it will be smart plug brand dependant also.

    I think the problem is with the TP Link system as I’ve also had a problem with TP Link blocking sky tv. If ditched sky tv and broadband altogether now and gone to EE which at the moment is half price for 3 months AND I got the boaster for FREE.

    This is a long time ago, but a fix for anyone experiencing these issues. If you turn off the router, set a hotspot up on your phone with the WiFi ssid and password (locking to 2.4ghz) as the main hub is setup.
    Then using a second device e.g. tablet or someone else's phone connect to the spoof router and setup the smart device. Once the router is back on and the hotspot is turned off it should work perfectly connected to the router.

      If this works then this is a huge help ! Thing is I’m not sure what you mean about setting up hotspot with WiFi ssid and password locking to 2.4ghz. I know how to set up hotspot on my iPhone but with Wi-Fi ssid and locking it to 2.4ghz ?? Can you please explain ?

    • @TheWrightTimes
      @TheWrightTimes  Рік тому

      You can set it to only use 2.4 ghz in the router settings Web page and that way it won't flick over to 5ghz . That's what I mean by locking it down to 2.4ghz. It's a simple process.

      @@TheWrightTimes Thanks for replying. Yeah I know it’s between 2.4 and 5GHz but how do you set the WiFi ssid and password on your phones hotspot ?

      Tbh. It's that long ago now I would of had to ring the network for technical help. In reality all you have to do is plug the disk in in another part of your house and you should be able to connect to it. Ideally you should anyway. Shouldn't really be any need to touch ssid etc. The mesh network went for instead was far far easier to set up and use

    Thanks for this perspective buddy, we're investigating moving to 5G broadband as we have rubbish broad band over copper and can't get fibre, so considering the TP link Deco mesh devices. Good to know it works well. Thanks

    I added a TD booster I plugged in next to my router and the other part next to the area where signal was poor and now I’ve got a good signal everywhere.

    You go as an administrator on the EE router and change ghz through the settings. You can see and change the settings to all connected devices. I think?

    I have smart router in one room and 12ft away in another room the white disc why is red light flashing on disc yet my Internet is working fine?

    • @TheWrightTimes
      @TheWrightTimes  Рік тому +1

      Not sure but it may be the link between the router and the disk. You good signal may be coming directly from the router rather than the disk

    • @onewaytograce
      @onewaytograce Рік тому +1

      @The Wright Times finally got this worked out, yes it was the link between router and disc extender. Reset small pinhole on both router and disc held in for 30 seconds, then turned off for 10seconds. Turned back on working perfectly again hope this helps others. 👍

    I've never used broadband supplied routers for wifi I've always put them in bridge mode or ip passthough and used my own gear because then you know how you've set it up

    • @TheWrightTimes
      @TheWrightTimes  2 роки тому

      I'm assuming with connecting the mesh gear to the router I'm badicall creating a pass through as I've disabled the routers WiFi output and just using the mesh. Is that a correct assumption?

    • @grahamjones6712
      @grahamjones6712 2 роки тому

      @@TheWrightTimes it's a specific setting if not just disabling the wifi on the isp provided router. Bridge mode/ip passthrough needs to be selected too I assume u must have done this as your using the mesh router instead for wifi. The wifi being disabled on the isp provided router is a just a side effect of choosing these options.

    I had trouble with this when Virgin media updated firmware on their router, all my smart devices couldn't get to work, changed Immersion heater switch to another one that wouldn't work and now on old ticking timer lol all the other devices I gave up. Tried switching the 5ghz off in the router settings and it switched itself back on. Pain in the arse

      That's the problem mine had. Mine did actually have both channels but all the devices could only see the 5 gigahertz one even though both of them were live and active. The ISP could not even resolve the problem so I ended up having to get the mesh system

  • @Bond2025
    @Bond2025 2 роки тому +1

    The main problem seems to be that you have no technical knowledge and haven't looked at how something works or what the terminology means. That has resulted in you and the people you speak to having two different conversations. You are talking about one thing using words that you have heard, they are trying to explain what to do using technical explanations that you do not understand.
    The SSID (name given to Wifi) can be the same on more than one band, I could have "BTinternet=WiFi" for example on 2.4GHz and 5GHz at the same time, the phone or PC would select either the strongest signal, the strongest signal with least errors or clearest band, or even 5GHz if a higher data throughput was required for streaming.
    Some of the Smart or multi-room WiFo devices will not work the way you want them to. For example, the main WiFi device will operate on 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Another unit linked to it might use 2.4GHz to speak to the main router and then only allow access on 5GHz, or the other way around. They usually sort out the clearest band to speak to each other around the house.
    It depends on what you bought and how it has been set up. Some will use an internet over the mains wiring and give you 2.4GHz and 5GHz in every room. It's down to you to read all the information and look at how it works.

    • @TheWrightTimes
      @TheWrightTimes  2 роки тому

      Good info. Sounds pretty much what we tried. Both myself and the ee operative thought it should of worked that way but in practice it wouldn't for some reason. When on the phone with their tech dept, I gave them all info they asked for, also what it was I was trying to accomplish, what I've already tried down to every detail and what equipment I was trying to connect. I'm by no means a tech expert but I do know some stuff so I'm not completely green.
      I've never had any issues with my broadband routers like this in the past. Even setting up my mesh since then was pretty much straight forward. I've used extenders in the past before with no bother as well so cannot see why a disk should of caused the issues that it did.

      Yes, both my smart tv and firestick works on 4g or 5g tethering from a phone as if my virgin ( now changed to EE for this very reason) went down or wouldn't reach even with extender I had to run both via my data from my 5g phone but works with 4g phone too, ironically ee boosted my WiFi data to unlimited through 2020 and most of 2021 when I was home because of covid and when tv didn't connect I only used my phone for everything in my bedroom, hence why I left virgin and went to ee but its good to know!!! Hope that helps 😃
