  • Budgerigars search for food and water in the outback of Australia. They fly in small flocks which gradually join other flocks of budgies, allowing their numbers to increase to super swarms of millions of budgerigars.
    Earthflight uses many different filming techniques to create the experience of flying with birds as they encounter some of the greatest natural events on the planet.

    Someday when I leave for the other side, I hope to be reunited with all the family birbs I've lost over the years. These little bundles of joy brought me so much comfort during an era where life almost lost all meaning for me. Losing them all overtime always left my heart in tatters. To this day, I still think about you fluffballs deeply wondering if I ever did enough for you. Wherever you six are, I hope you are flying with with far more freedom than I can ever hope to provide you. I love you all.

      I feel the same way! I've had budgies since I was little. I always considered budgies as "personifications" of innocence, joy, affection - and fragility. A budgie is one of many proofs to me that God, the Creator of everything, has a tender heart. I live in freezing Vermont, and I make sure my two little friends, Petey and Peeps, stay warm and cozy, and have nice music to listen to while the days are dark. They get the best food and care, and lots of love.

      No fear at all. My bird was out and the cat snuck in the room, while I was trying to catch the cat as fast as possible and move him away, the budgie decided that going to him and biting his ears was a good idea. He also loves to tug on the cats whiskers when inside the cage and the cage is looking at him. I'm constantly near having a panic attack trying to get them to stay in two different rooms for their safety

      Can confirm. I had a budgie alone for a little over a year. He was okay, but was kind of withdrawn. I got another budgie this year, and the older one is SO MUCH HAPPIER now. They are inseparable, and he's even much friendlier with me. He now will fly to my hand any time I hold it out, and just sit there chillin' with me. He never would have done that before. He even flies on my head and starts pecking around. It's a completely different, much happier bird. I'd say keeping a budgie alone is borderline animal cruelty.

      It’s not good thoughhhhh they can’t survive because of predators attracted by their colourful feathers they can get Ill VERY easily from dirty water eating poop etc and they can’t find enough food or water and if they get sick there is a chance of them surviving IF they go to the vets but they can’t it’s safer When they are home but you can get flight cages chew toys natural perches and more! You can let them out the cage for two hours (in the house) which is safe unlike in the wild,so it May be beautiful looking at them in the wild but it’s very dangerous budgies can’t survive without food or water for a day

Turns out she wanted to breed and even with everything I did it wasn't good enough to lower her hormone levels. My males were young and afraid of her so I gave her to a breeder friend since she was a mutation he wanted. It took a few tries for her to meet a male she likes but now she's very happy taking care of her babies and I'm happy for her. My other birds are happy that she's gone

      @xStaticSumi 7 років тому +1

      Nothing you said in this comment is scientifically accurate.
      Budgies are parakeets. There are many types of parakeets yes, but it is not incorrect to call them parakeets. Just like there are many types of cats (tigers, lions, bobcat, domestic house cat). These are all different species but they are all still cats.
      Budgies are not a subspecies of parakeet. They are a species of parakeet. Subspecies are something entirely different. Budgies are also parrots. All parakeets are parrots, but not all parrots are parakeets. All budgies are parakeets but not all parakeets are budgies.

    • @xStaticSumi
      @xStaticSumi 7 років тому +1

      caveman Versace dude I have a degree in biology. Are you a freaking idiot. Go read a Wikipedia page or something.

    • @xStaticSumi
      @xStaticSumi 7 років тому +1

      Holy fuck dude... where in the video do they say budgierigars are not parakeets? Is English your second language or something? It's cool if it is but you clearly have some type of comprehension problem.
      All it takes is a 20 second google search, here I'll help you:
      "The budgerigar is closely related to the lories and the fig parrots. They are one of the parakeet species, a non-taxonomical term that refers to any of a number of small parrots with long, flat and tapered tails."
      "A parakeet is any one of a large number of small to medium-sized species of parrot, in multiple genera, that generally have long tail feathers."
      "Colorful and musical by nature, parakeets make up a diverse group of small- to medium-sized parrots that are known for their long, pointed tail feathers. Some of the more commonly recognized species of parakeets include cockatiels, budgerigars and the Quaker parakeet. Parakeets have originated from an assortment of geographic locations including Australia, New Zealand, Central America, South America and exotic varieties from Asia."
      Now let's investigate the definition of species and subspecies:
      Species: "a group of living organisms consisting of similar individuals capable of exchanging genes or interbreeding. The species is the principal natural taxonomic unit, ranking below a genus and denoted by a Latin binomial, e.g., Homo sapiens."
      Subspecies: "a taxonomic category that ranks below species, usually a fairly permanent geographically isolated race. Subspecies are designated by a Latin trinomial, e.g., (in zoology) Ursus arctos horribilis or (in botany) Beta vulgaris subsp. crassa."
      As for my degree... it's actually a bachelors degree in wildlife biology from the University of Montana, which happens to have a wildlife biology program ranked #1 in the nation.
      Parakeets is a broad classification of closely related species of parrots which all share similar morphologies (such as a thin body and long tails, among other traits). One of the species included under this unit of classification include the Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus). There are no subspecies of the budgie... only the domestic strain which differs from the wild-type budgie form. Although the domestic budgie is slightly different from the wild budgie they have yet to be classified separately or assigned different subspecies designations. Parakeet is a term used to classify a subset of species which are all considered parrots. Not all birds considered parrots are considered parakeets for obvious reasons... in order to belong in the parakeet classification the bird must possess specific traits (thin body, long tail, etc.).
      Now that I've finished writing you a mini essay on the topic, maybe you should learn to shut the fuck up about subjects you clearly don't understand and are too lazy to research properly. It's not my fault you're not smart enough to comprehend and understand what is being said in the video you just watched. But let me assure you, you are 100% wrong and you look like a total tool trying to correct people with incorrect information.
